You would hate for a young person to get hurt doing something a dangerous a riding off road? Better let them get a junior gun license instead? Ow, their lack of body weight will only let them fall on their arse and hurt or kill someone else! Or i suppose they could get a junior fishing license? Ow, no wait their lack of body weight may mean they a swept away in the river and drown!

Yes you can see how the lack of body weight hampers riders like Merriman and Stoner.

So, who has a good riding area in mind where this could be trialled?

What risks do people see in permitting a 12 yo to ride in a public area?

Do people think the ages being proposed and the reasons are valid for motorcycling?

What motorcycle standard do you think AMTRA should encourage as a minimum? The proposals talk about daylight hours only to remove the need for lighting, but we all know how things work and that you can be coming home in the dark on a day ride (especially if Tim is leading Tongue)

To support this and have a reasonable expectation it is possible needs rational thoughts backed up with some evidence. There are at least examples of licencing at less than 18, and other "risk" activities that persons under 18 can participate in.

So put your brains in gear and put the results down on paper.

Please check this link out and give me your thoughts

And junior / Rec license

All,
The Country Alliance has only been around for a few (less than 10) years and has always been generally on our side in making the use of the bush equitable to all, and for $20.00 a year membership we could all do a lot worse things in our lives than being a member.
We have State elections coming up in the future and we need to consider on which side our bread is buttered!!!.
Ultimately, if this is to happen it will require a motion through state parliament, and perhaps we should start there with an approach to the minister to seek out his views.  Hopefully a letter from a Registered Association with a few hundred members will receive some consideration that we can follow up on.
I have discussed this issue with the DSE in the past and at that time they expressed a lot of interest.

Food for thought,
Phil r.
