For any new or non members on this ride who may be starting out with the club please note:
•   To go on a ride please ring the ride leader, mention you are new to the club and he/she will assist in helping you chose a ride Level. Rides are listed in the club newsletter and the Calendar on the website. Please familiarize yourself with our web site rules and regulations.
•   It is recommended to start out with at least one lower level ride and work your way up. If you are new to riding then we suggest a Level 1 or Level 1/2 ride to begin with, or if you have a lot of trail riding experience then consider a Level 2 or Level 2+.  Jumping into a clubman or expert ride straight up is not advised, as it might be too hard a day or difficult terrain. This may then spoil your introduction to riding with AMTRA, cause problems for the ride leader or with other members on the ride.

Folks,
Had a few calls about fuel for the 100K ride and remember its best to keep some range up your sleeve. Fuel will depend mostly on the size of your tank, the size and type of bike (2T or 4T),the way you ride(throttle) and the terrain which is open flow with some narrow tracks.
If you are in doubt suggest you get one or two 1L fuel containers which are available at most outdoor shops like Rays or Aussie disposals and put them in your backpack.
If you are carrying fuel there will be a place that it can be carried two on the bike and dumped for the return trip which is about 15k's from the cars and mostly uphill.
As a guide most 250 4T's with and 8L tank will make this trip. Its the 2T's and bigger 4T's that you need to be measuring fuel consumption. For example on the last ride a CRF450 had a 3L top up (don't know the std tank size)and ran onto reserve when we hit the cars at 115Km distance which was due to exploration and detours on the pre-ride.
If the issue becomes serious there are ways back on the roads which are shorter or allow for your car (2WD) to go and pick up the bike.
It is good to work out what your fuel range is and write it down somewhere.
Also if you have a portable UHF radio bring it along as I plan to use them on these rides to assist with splits and grouping.
