Anyone who did not get on there bike today truly missed out on perfect riding weather low 20s and no dust.
We met at the DSE unloading area at 7.30 and there was a deffinate chill in the air so no one was rushing.
We decided to take our time getting ready incase some were running late but after the pre ride talk we were on the bikes for 8.15.
I decided since we had a small group that as well as check out new areas we would also check out some of the HTFU ride tracks but in reverse.
We were disapointed to find that Nathan and the fun police had been there with a grader and have graded Lizards Tk and Sawdust Heap Tk and one other well rutted HTFU track in that area and taken all the fun out of them.
We made our way towards the bog hole section at the end of Whitelaws and had lots of fun getting from one end to the other, but everyone got through eventaully.
We then headed into the forest of Carrolls Tk and found lots of disused over grown logging tracks and had lots of fun riding around them with some great unused overgrown 4wd tracks thrown into the mix.
We did one track which was clearly an overgrown logging track which went on and on but had to go over lots of logs and branches and through the over grown weeds etc and eventaully coming to a very large downned tree. Frankie spotted a great way around so we followed Frankie in and around but we got held up when Rossi decided he needed a lie down, but then his bike ran out of battery whilst he tried to restart it, so we had to push him out of the scrub first so the rest of could get out.
After around 10 minutes of kicking on and off the honda eventaully fired into life and we were of again deeper into the pigmy rain forest which was getting so over grown I had to park the bike and walk the track clearing the weeds for around 40 meaters to find the end. We all pushed through and into a bog hole near the end and then a log hop out onto a main track.
We eventaully made our way back to the latrobe river road and decided that we should head for our disused tracks near sawdust to make sure that they are intact.
As we headed down beards we found a track which we had not seen before, so we headed down that over grown one and where hooting along nicley to find it was a dead end.
U turn and back to Beards and up another which I new was a dead end but is a great track to ride and once everyone was up we were heading back down and onto Beards and up to Memory, were we then headed back to Sawdust Heap and then down one of the disused tacks to the end, were we had some fun as Mark entered the wrong bog hole and sank his bike to the rear gaurd. A few of us dragged his bike out and he eventaully got it running again after a few of us shared the task of kick starting it.
We then headed back down sawdust and into one of the other overgrown tracks and did that loop then headed for the starecase.
This is were the real fun started, and the men were sorted from the girls.
My first attempt was a bit weak hearted getting to within 3 feet of the first landing. Off the bike and a carefull reverse back down the stairs for a breather, whilst some others had a go.
Tony made a good effort a couple of times but only just got past 1/2 way of the first section.
Mark made a great effort and got to about 1 ft from the first landing and managed to stay on and then get going to the next section but whilst we had our back turned he syked himself out of it and turned around and headed down.
Frankie made a girls effort at having a go and had a little lay down on the side to recover whilst I got his bike back down.
I was well recovered by now and remembering everything pommy Mat had taught me and seeing his favorite line up I decided I was going up. Second gear and big revs and using the clutch from bottom to top up I went to the top.
Standing at the top looking down I started calling them up, Rossi could not take it anymore, so he went and hid in the scrub, Frankie would not even look at me as that would mean he would have to read my lips. Tony and Richard were spent and Gary was holding out to see if I was coming back down.
Eventually I heard the 2 stroke fire up and he headed up the LH side first to get to about 3 ft from the first landing and having a little lay down. Back down for a try of the RH side were things almost got very ugly for him as he headed across the stairs side ways and lucky to fall into the hill.
Back down again for some more determination and up he came.
Mark was next to follow and up onto the first landing and ran out of traction and balance on the next set of stairs, so down Gary and I went and dragged him and his bike up the last few meaters. We then directed the girls to were would meet them, and we headed off in a overgrown track loop frenzy and back to meet up with the other four and headed back to the cars, including doing the warm up track in reverse which always manages to catch a few of us out in the odd spot or two. We got back to the cars about 12.30 with just over 60klms on the speedo, we made a quick change and headed for the Neerim Sth hotel for lunch and some serous poo stirring.
A big thanks to the other six guys who came along and made the day what it was, a great day on the bikes with lots of laughs and fun. Will
P.S Guys please feel free to add your bit of bull dust on the ride.

So sorry i didnt make it yesterday! I was working late on friday night so i could take the saturday off, and while rushing on a worksite, thinking about riding in stead of work, i stood when i should have ducked.
Put a rather rather large hole in the side of my head with the underside of a scaffold, then spent the next few hours waiting in emergency to get it stiched up.
The doc also said no ridning, and feeling the way i did it was hard to disagree!
Sorry again, and i look forward to the next ride

Perfect bike riding day. No dust and not to hot. That staicase is a slippery sucker and some of those bog holes are treacherous. Thanks Will for leading the ride and Gary for doing the tailman duties. Good lunch and just all round good fun day. Cheers Mark
