I can recall the day Australia went to the dogs...

The mystery KTM rider was (Blow-Me-Away) Ray.  He is a mate of Alex P's.  Ray was amazed at how that many blokes could sit in a pub hanging crap on each other without anyone getting offended!

That's what it's all about.

Big Al’s Desert Ride - Friday

Steve, Tafun and I arrived at the Ouyen Pub just before 1.00AM, just in time for last beers before closing time.  We dragged our heels a bit Friday morning but ended up driving out past Underbool, and met up with Alan and Alex who did the “right thing” and rode out!

I hadn’t ridden for ages but figured I’d be ok taking the 640 as Alex was also riding one so the tracks shouldn’t be too bad.  So when we get on the bikes Alex gets off the 640 and gets on his bloody 450 which Ray had kindly trailered out there for him!  I ask him what’s up and he says “I’m not riding that big thing down the Tank Track”.  I figured he’s just being a whose, we’ve never found any really bad tracks in the area, had we?

We left the cars and worked our way down a few nice tracks.  Tafun was the first to have an argument with a Mallee root but it didn’t slow him down for long.    Milmed track was excellent as there had been a bit of rain and the sand was not too loose.  The big Kato loved it and Jake and I had a great run to Milmed Rock where we stopped for lunch.

After lunch we shot down to the Tank Track where things got a lot more interesting.  This track is approx 40k’s or single lane with woops spaced about 1 meter apart.  It started out great but after 20k’s with around 80 kilos too much motor cycle my arms and legs felt like I’d done 20 rounds with Mike Tyson and no guess who’s losing.  By the time we got to the end I had a new name for this track and can’t print what I was calling Alex!

It was getting late so we made a dash to the cars and made it just on dark, not a bad warm up of around 180K’s.  Alan and Alex rode back to Ouyen but Alan’s chain decided to self destruct on the way.

Thanks Big Al for as always putting on an excellent ride.
