Wow what a day, started early by meeting at 7 and were on the bikes at 7.40 with a total of 14 of us. After 4 days of 40 plus degrees it was a pleasant 25 degrees when we took off but before long my temp gauge on my bike was continually swapping from 26 to 31 depending on our elevation. The dust really slowed things but at the end of the day we all went home in 1 piece and we all had big smiles at the end of the ride as we all headed to the pub for lunch. Neerim was in its usual well used condition but we had trouble finding puddles but it was ace riding through bog holes we normally avoid. It was also nice to find that Paris had been reopened by some nice peoples. With the recent harvesting of the plantation there is lots of disused no longer over grown trails, we did one short one which was awesome but the aim was to keep of them incase someone dropped there bike and started a fire. We did end up on 1 or 2 by the end of the day after missing a turn on a planned track and no option but to see it out to the end as turning around would have been worse but most enjoyed it as it was a nice little challenge. The Pub was awesome with lots of cold refreshments available and Rib Eye on special, mmmmm yum. A big thanks to everyone who came along, I hope the 80 odd KLMS we did was challenging enough for you all.

Thanks Willbur for a great day out, seems you forgot Rossie's flat tyre and DNF from the ride report , even after the overnight cool change it was still a bit dusty and hot but pub lunch solved that one cheers Gary.

Thanks Wilbur for putting on this ride. It was a good ride and my first one to start the year. It was a bit different to see Neerim so dry and dusty as I usually ride there in cooler weather. Overall the day went well. The group flowed nicely despite Rossi getting a puncture. A big THANKS to Rossi & Gary for sharing tailman duties. The day ended nicely with a good meal at the pub with some great company. Cheers, Adam

Thanks Will & Co for a good day out for my 2nd ride of the year and it's still January.
Got excited on the way out with some wet bitumin before Neerim but it was all a con, lots of dust was the order of the day. Not too bad with a mostly sensible group who left a gap to enable safer and faster riding with the track being visible.
The biggest dust storm all day was created by "Flapper" zooming in when we were all stopped waiting for Rossi who had just cracked a flat.
6 two strokes on the day, and yes, it's just as good as smelling the roses.
A good mix of tracks selected by Willbar with ruts of many shapes and depths to fall into. Chris managed to bury the front wheel in one on a down hill and then proceeded to gracefully roll over the handlebars onto his back thankfully with no damage. Some of the narrower tracks had the perspiration flowing but with relief being available thanks to that cool change.

No worries about the dust really Flapper, we were in and out of it most of the day, but it did look a bit like a mini tower coming down.
For the boot it's called Shoe Goo, made in USA, thru Rebel sport or your local boot repair shop for more dollars.

Thanks Will for putting on the day my first summer ride for a while, the early start was a good idea. Nice photos Flipper I think there's actually one that shows both of the DRZ's wheels off the ground at the one time.Wonders never cease.
Cheers Michael.
