Hi everyone,
Welcome back to Chapter 2, of another epic adventure with Peg Leg Pete with the gummy back & the AMTRA crew...
20 of us arrived bright & early at the famous Golden Trout Pub at Eildon..will he lead the ride or won't he? was the question on everyone's minds. Peggy roles up fashionably late & to everyone's amazement, say's he'll be leading us out there...It's amazing what a few pain killers can do or is this guy truly mad?...good-onya Pete! Huh
We were lead on a reasonably fast paced ride through some great undulating and hilly countryside...I say reasonably fast, because I can never catch up to those front runners & who was on that orange bike that kept flying past?.. Nothing too extreme, for say, us less experienceing riders, but enough challenges to keep us on our toes or our arses depending, which way you hit the deck (only 2 stacks for me this time round). We did creeks, we did shaley/gravelly stuff, we did more up hills & more down hills, but suprisingly, no logs (for the morning ride crew anyway). The uphill to Mt Terrible was a fantastic run & going downhill, not as hairy as I thought it would be (maybe all the coaching from the tailmen over the last few rides is working...it's actually becoming easier for me?).
We cruised into Jamieson around 1ish to recover & have some grits at the pub...really nice food there, worth checking out. A few of us who were quite happy to chill out after a 1/2 day's riding, headed back to base via the Eildon-Jamieson Road on a 60km road ride (only about 15 k's of gravel on it these days)....very cruisy.
The rest, well, lets just say, they arrived back at Eildon around 5.30ish, had done 140k's for the day in total of bushbashing...& as to be expected, because girly didn't join the afternoon crew, the lads had the pleasure of experiencing "The Goaty From Hell" Lips sealed....at least there were no bowling balls on this one, I was told..but everything else...let's just say...all sorts of other challenges.
Thanks Pete & AMTRA for once again, another great ride & to tailman Rob who had the lucky experience of not having to help me at all; looking forward to the next one...
Cheers,
Marls Grin
