Where do I begin, another successful AMTRA ride, another successful fund raiser and just a bloody awesome weekend with some of my AMTRA Family.
The weekend started for me early last week when I realized I had not finishes building my new double bed in The Kennel Camper. A few late nights and a quick check over of the 300 and the ute and I was good to go.
Met a few guys at Traralgon for the convoy to Woodside.
Ken R was the early entertainment with him arriving at 8.09am for a 8.10am departure and all he was worried about was were can I buy a coffee.
You will have to wait Ken till we get there and aunty Bob will make you one.
The Davey's arrived and we hit the road for the long 40min cruise to woodside.
Gary and the kudz arrived and got busy setting everything up for us whilst we all got ready to go riding.
I gave a quick debrief on the fines and raffle and fund raising antics and on the L1 ride and the corner man system.
I then handed over to Johnny who gave a good debrief on his L2 loop.
It was time for the L2 group to leave, mmmmmm one of the first fines went to ride leader johnny when his trusty old KTM would not fire after cutting out. They kicked it, pushed it, towed it to no avail.
It was decided that everyone would tag along on Bobs ride whilst Johnny and Mat and Gary had a go at getting the 525 to run.
We headed of on Bobs first loop and did tracks with the following names, Bobs Track, Zebs Track, The Ferral's Track,
Hamishe's Track, Goanna track, get the idea if yu ride with Johnny and Bob eventually you will get a track named after you or something you may see out there.
Ken R got a fine from me for the following advice of a couple of teenager's who sent him off in the wrong direction as he thought they were corner men, Bob got fined for being to fast in a straight line and too slow going around corners and lots of other fines.
Some got fines for coming off, or just cause we could or looking for there glove when it was on there hand.
The riding was awesome, but have never ridden in so much dust, Johnny met us on Mats bike at around the 2/3rd stage of the loop and took some on his L2 loop whilst we continued on and back to the cars for lunch and the raffle draw.
Even though it was only a L1 loop there was plenty of tired looking body's at lunch time and some dissapeared.
The lunch was sponsored by Pommy Mat and and Johnny and Sandra sponsored the refreshments , once lunch was done we played slide the coin to the bottle of scotch which raised $118.00 and was won and then donated back into the raffle.
Some of the prices we had this time which were all donated was slabs of heavy beer, bottle of whiskey, Pens, coffee mugs, wind cheaters, F1 promo stuff like hats, shirts drink bottles, signed V8 posters and T Shirts, oils, Grips, riding gear and other clothing. The Echoe Brush cutter which we will finish auctioning at this Wednesday nights end of year club meeting which is currently running silently on this website with a current bid at 12.30pm sunday  25/11/12 with Phil Randall at $300 and has a retail over $500 so there is still a bargain to be had here .
We must thank out sponsors, Redron. Dec and Allpower, Johnny and Bob, Gary Clarke, Pommy Mat, Gourmandale Village Shop, Bairnsdale KTM, Motorcycle Repairs Traralgon, cause with out sponsors we would not have had anything to give back to all our attendees. I hope everyone left with something to remember there day out at Woodside with some real crazy Mothers and Grandmothers.
With the fund raising proceedings out the way I decided to hand my bike over to Johnny so he could do his afternoon loop and then I proceeded to have a look at his Kato.
Before he had even geared up I had it running once again so it was a quick re gear up for me and we left the L2 bunch to screw Johnnys bike back together and the L1 arvo loop was happening.
More sand, more dust, more stutters, more erosion mounds, more trees to wind in and out and duck under, more overgrown unused tracks to explore, more passing Bob as she was a little slow in some of the sandy sections.
It was all going great till near the end when at a regroup I went to start the old 300 and the kicker broke off, Oopps
some suggested we push start it, that wont work I have an auto clutch, Pinch James kicker of his kato Al suggested so with that get out the way James with allen key in hand it was soon off, getting the rest of mine of was a little difficult but with enthusiasm from Ron H and Phil and myself it was soon off and I started bolting it on, James commented that perhaps I should not bolt it on, why James your bike has a button, yes Will but it does not work, Fark best you give yours a push I said and not before long we were all under way once more , not long and the arvo ride was all over and done with by about 4pm and most headed off and some hung for a bit of bench racing and lots of laughs.
Myself, Mat and Debbie and Johnny and Bob where camping the night so we had a few adult refreshments and it was decided that about 8pm might be a good idea to cook some dinner as it was getting hard to laugh at the days tails on an empty tummy.
A big thanks to Uncle Phil for Tail duty's on the L1 ride and to Al for afternoon point duty and of coarse to the wonderful Bob for leading the L1 ride and to Johnny for his 1/2 day L2 ride and all who chipped in to run the days events like cooking, cleaning up, picking up rubbish, raffle, counting money etc, route planning you know who you are cause you know you put in  Wink Grin
It was so nice to see everyone smilling all day long, it really makes a big difference to the day when everyone is having fun.
Thank you all Very Much
and to all who came along and supported the day cause with out you lot it would not have been successful.
this time we raised $700 from Fines and donations plus the $118 from slide the coin and we still have the brush cutter to come on Wednesday night.

Great days riding with a great group. Shaz and i had a ball and was very nice to see everyone show the L1's respect on the morning loop with some quicker riders. Had a fun day, with a variety of speeds from flat out blasts to thermo fan running duties. Bob did well and was under the pump with the pace picking up in the arvo. Good job grasshopper Grin
The dust was a big issuse, yet caused none. Noticed when i farted this morning though, i had left a dust cloud? Thanks to Johnny for the short blast at the end of the day to finish off any left over energy. And sorry to the logs around the car park for log hopping practice whilst i waited for someone to get back to the car park to play with. Shaz, would like to thank Ron, Uncle Phill, Ted and anyone else who helped or gave encourgement on the day, she slept on the way home Tongue Thanks also to everyone that helped the day work and attended.

LEVEL 1 RIDER LEADER DUTIES FOR ME : Oh wow, I had so much fun. My day started with popping into the Gormandale General Store to fine the owner Greg (as he wanted to donate).  As I pulled up at the store...Father Ted pulled up too.. I got out of the car to say g'day to him..then went back to my car to get money to buy some ice..and Ted fines me for not being organised enough to have my purse in my hand before I got out of the car. So the antics started early.
Any way Teddles and I convoyed together to our meeting spot. Matt, Debbie and Ron were there as they had camped the night before, Al and Shaz had got there not long before me. So we stood around yabbering (well i did)..before we knew it we had 21 keen ready to go riders all willing to go out and get hot and dusty and filthy, but for a great cause...FOR CATHY  Grin.
I was shattered for Johnny as his KTM which was the back up plan as the Berg was out of action had broken down. So after a bit of a discussion it was decided that we need to get the riders going as it was getting warm already...see ya later Johnny, Gary and Matt..im taking the gang for a squirt.
I must say, I was packin it...i couldnt believe I was leading all these people, including Level 2's...We had a great morning loop, sand and stuff just for something different at Woodside. Even the L2 guys seemed to be enjoying themselves, so I was wrapt as it was a last minute change of plans..but at least we were riding ha.
Lunch time was very relaxed and no-one was in a great hurry to get back out there due to the heat, but we all seemed to still want to ride anyway...so at 2.00pm we all set out again after Johnnys bike finally was fixed..(well done Will). Al had replaced Will as point man and the lovely Phil Randall stayed as tail. There was no water around due to the time of year..but this track called Goanna Track (refer to Wills naming of tracks sentence)..has got a nice sized puddle that you just dont see coming as you come round a bend...I decide to be a lady and go through gently..oh no not Will..he just comes right up next to me and just cracks it on...I was soaked...but it was nice and cool anyway and I will remember this  Wink. So we got through all the tracks for the afternoon without anything major happening..I set the gang free on quite a few tracks to let them have bit of a blast due to it being hot..poor Shaz did have a bit of an off in the sand...I would have helped but I was going too quick as I was trying to keep up my  momentum and knew if I tried to slow down in the sand it would end on tears for me..so it was quick yelling out of Sorry Shaz..as i kept flying along but i knew that Phil was tail so she would get help...sorry Shaz xx. As we were on a short road leg to our last track before home..I had Will as usual, along side Gee-ing me up..we were so busy annoying each other (well he was annoying me)..that we just slightly overshot the turn off...as someone (I think it may have been Ron H) said later as were laughing about, well that caused a bit of a scramble didnt it. Was funny. So we got back to the cars, very hot and dirty and dying to get the bike gear off, get cold water on the face and chill a bit.
I just loved all the bantering between everyone wether it be on the ride..at lunch time or after the ride..everyone was so happy and smiling.
We had a successful day raising the funds we did for Cathy and her family. This is probably the last big group ride out our way for a little while now as summer approaches as its just too dusty, so Im pleased we were able to show a few more people our playground and to be able to welcome back those who have ridden here before. From what I could hear and what I was told the L2 riders were still happy even on my L1 ride in the morning, and I just want to say thanks to you guys for being so kind and patient and going with the flow of what needed to be done.

Had a really nice night camping with Matt & Deb, and Will. I think we all slept like babies...ahh what a day out on the bikes can do to you ha.
MY THANK YOU's...
Will Munro for hosting another Cathy Ride. And for being morning pointman. And for all that you have done Smiley

Al Mason for being there as sweep in the morning and then my pointman in the afternoon...  (to the helipad it or not  Grin)..love what you do, and as usual, so supportive of me. Thank you Smiley

Gary Clarke for the bbq and keeping an eye on the camp site and for helping to try and get Johnnys bike going.

Jordan and Hunter -  for being such great kids, helping, chatting, laughing and just being there. Thanks kids.

Helen Davey, as ususal is there to do what she can to help..this time she got everyone to sign the ride list for us, thanks a bunch for that.

Jeff Davey (for reminding me everyone was riding, so dont worry that their on L1..that made me feel better  Grin) oh and its 1/2 sugar,,not 2 sugars  Tongue

Phil Randall, for being tail and wearing everyones dust ...all day...what a terrific man he is to just plod along. Thank you so much Phil, you really are a great man. Grin

Ron H. Thanks for being so encouraging..glad you had fun Smiley

Matt Creasey for working on Johnnys bike and giving up your bike to him and sacraficing your own ride to allow Johnny to catch up with us and snaffle the L2's from me so they could play a bit harder.

Thank you everyone who travelled to our playground for a really worthy cause, for your donations and contributions. I think nearly everyone has a travel mug or 2 dedicated to Mastitis..in cows Huh..and no excuses for anyone not having a pen at the next ride  Shocked.
I had a ball...and hope you all did too...until next time..take care and stay upright...Luv Bob

P.S Greg at the Gormandale Store was very touched when I dropped off his prizes from the raffle on my way home today. He said to say Thank you to you all.

Pity Johnny's Kato played up, however I had a ball on the L1 ride. Great job Bob and to all involved.

Yes I was impressed with my start timing. I have had a bit of trouble with my timing in the past and to be so spot on was just total - - - AR$E!

The drive out from Taralgon was very pleasant until we hit the dust. Gary pointed out a different drive home with a lot less dirt rd but a bit longer overall. Left out of car park and then straight down to the bitumin and turn right. Not complaining but may be an option for the bigger crews driving in.

The hardest part of the ride was getting Phil to wait a bit longer to make sure the dust was gone before we followed the ride. It is just so much more fun and safer when you can see the track.

Thanks to all concerned I had an enjoyable first time at Woodside, and Will obviously gets a big kick out of being there Grin Grin

well where do i start i would like to say a big thankyou to everyone who organised this ride and made it a huge success.I would like to say thankyou to Bob and Wilbur for everything. It is great to see all the support off friends and strangers who were just willing to help it is great to see so much support and i cant say thankyou enough due to fundraising we have just about payed for all cathys treatment and released the finacial burdens they had hanging over there head she is doing well and has returned to work last week and back to her studies. Now we just need to wait and see if she goes into remisssion so fingers crossed for the end of January. We had so many prizes donated i think everyone must of ended up with half a dozen prizes i think i even ended up with a set of travel cups thanks Ronnie.I also need to say thankyou to Declan i never even relised he had donated a second brush cutter as im only just back onto a computer. And i would also like to thank all my friends who came and helped out and to all who travelled down to woodside its a shame we didnt get rain as this realy is a excelent place to ride when there is rain so dont let the dust deter you from returning.I cant tell you much about the first loop as i done a grand total of 500 metres towing a trusty Kato lol.The afternoon loop was a bit of a blur to me lol except for one section that was as clear as a bell i knew i was going in the wrong direction but the air was so clear i just kept going just for a rest from the dust.On my return i found the corner i had gone past and rejoined the group.I was realy starting to get worn out by the end of the afternoon and i realy noticed how much i havnt ridden in the last twelve months so i think its about time to get back into it.I did have a  moment of brilliance jumping out of a gully i had been to before with Nath last time we rode there where i witnessed him flip his bike so i softied it and went round but not this time (i teach you next time Nath  Grin).Apart from the dust i do believe most enjoyed the day and id like to thankyou all for coming.

Matt, always happy to help, well done Bob and Johnny for putting the 2 x ride loops together, Hunter and Jordan had a ball they loved the raffle and both went home with  a few prizes.

As I was not riding we left after lunch going home via Port Welshpool to cool off and then had a look at the Agnes waterfalls just out of Toora.

Cheers, Gary.

I must first start by saying that in the space of a week Woopside has changed again, it was admittedly dry and dusty the week before, but the dust this week was pretty bad, well now that i think about it- it didn't really bother me too much either time Grin,
How embarrasing for the ride leaders bike to decide not to play ball,, I had ridden it the week before, ridden it at home during the week , it started fine on the morning of the ride, it made it all the way out to the road and that was it -kaput! Angry, all things pointed to electrical and that's what it turned out to be. Matt offered me his bike as pin pointing the problem wasn't a five minute fix -or was it? Smiley. I met up with everyone and took the level two's on a quick, short burst back to the trailers, couldn't have timed it better as Bobs group had only just arrived too. I don't know what Matt and Gary had been doing whilst I was gone but the Kato was still in bits Sad, massive thanks guys for having a go. The BBQ lunch, banter, fines and prizes was a fun time,, laughter was most definately there in abundance Grin Grin Grin, .
Will decided to have a quick look at the Kato -and that it was -quick that is, not even two minutes and he had it running -thanks mate- so c'mon guys lets go, I think it was around thirty something km's until the heat was starting to have an affect on me, so time for a regroup, still no dust though Wink, after a bit of a breather it was into the "gully system" I find this to be a real fun stretch, a great interesting track that criss crosses an, in places quite steep gully, not very deep but none the less a nice break from what is in essence a flat area to ride. A quick fang back to the trailers and that was it,, a tad over sixty something km's. Still no dust Wink. Al had'nt had enough yet -nor had I for that matter, so c'mon mate lets go  Grin Grin., We weren't gone for long but it was good, hmmmmm still no dust Wink.. So there you have it a half-a-day Johnny ride.
I think Will,Bob and Matt have summed up the rest of the ride well, I too would like to give thanks to the very generous sponsors, who made this ride even more fun, the drawing of the tickets was a heap of fun. I would also like to give thanks to everyone who donated the much needed money for such a worthy cause, an AMTRA mate of ours needed a hand and we were there in spades, well done!
See ya's on the next ride Grin Grin Grin.
got to love dirtbike riding hey  Smiley Smiley Smiley
