Fantastic company. thanks guys and wonderful, enjoyable tracks very well done, you have set up another great ride for the participants.
The BBQ lunch was a treat with the company from the extended families who are a real treasure.

Glad you had a good day Brad, and thanks for tailman and some track direction duties for the day. Also thanks to the rest of the riders for the help in exploring some more tracks to add to the list. (2 or 3 day Fumina ride getting close!) Sorry for some of the boring runs in between exploring. (think some enjoyed the rest though!) Was impressed by Zeb and Lefty's riding for the day, that was a sold clubman in spots. (see talk to the ride leader, instead of listening to b/s from people who have never been!)Even though i think Zeb may have been wondering what the hell he had put his hand up for when we hit the first track? Zeb seem to enjoy the Fumina mud as i saw him laying in it a lot for the day. Lefty, you held your own for the day with no assistance need and held a steady pace all day. Was also good to see how much Eric had improved since the last time i rode with him. Had a great (long) day and acheived alot, thanks boys. Al
Ps. Lefty dont forget your on ride report dutie!!

Thanls Al ,

Even though i didnt even have the strength to hang onto the pressure washer trigger this morning i am still so glad that i came along. Was a great leaning experience for me and you certainly helped me unlock some of the mysterys that have baffeled me about why i seem to have completley stopped progressing with my skills.

For anyone that reads this Contrary to popular belief Als Fumina ride is not a death mission , sure its extremley hard work and the terrain ( all of it ) is very tough stuff and the only breaks you seem to get are transport sections between tracks , if you are a level two with a base skill set and some serouse heart and dont mind hitting the ground a few times ( or in my case many times ) give Al a call and chat to him about getting on on one of his rides it may hurt a little ( lets face it alot ) after but you will begin to understand what you are and arent doing properly - I sure learnt alot ( Thanks Al i really enjoyed the day ) Wink

BBQ lunch was fantastic thanks for feeding us its a nice touch.

Zeb
Thanks for the good wrap Zeb, you would be welcome on my ride any time. And for any skills you have not mastered yet, you syre made up for in determation. One other tip for you! "When trying to climb a small teflon clay hill? Remember if you dont keep falling on it and spilling 2 stroke all over it! It would be easier!" See you out there soon Zeb.

Tim.
Still no onions! But we did have some very nice beef kerbas!

Miss understood or not? You were the one who called my rides only for people who want to put their necks on the line and not attend work on monday. Every off riders had on my ride were low speed drops, no broken bones or lasting injurries. Zeb went home buggered from picking his bike up all day, but improved all day as he was shown some of the finer points of riding. He even knows how to de-water his bike now. So as for the level of my rides, if AMTRA want them as Experience instead of CLUBMAN? I dont have a problem with that. If someone wants to question the safety and risks my rides puts the riders in, I do have a big problem with! Al

Hey AL it was only a figure of speech,I should have chosen my words better, I didn't realize that you were so sensitive.
It wasn't my intension to put poo on your rides, it's what you made of it, that's all I'm going to say about it.

Thanks Al for the reminder, I think I was nominated but wtf here goes. Preconception plays mind games with ones self in choosing what rides to go on and the areas you haven't been to. It's with this trepidation I first contacted Dr. Brad ( I've been on 3 of his rides to date) to see if I would be up to scratch to go on infamous Al's Fumina rides. "You'll be fine, but it's Al's call" was the reply. I called Al and the day is history. Arriving at Longwarry servo I hooked up with Brad and Zeb and followed them to Fumina. At the unloading point was.
Me wr250
Brad wr250
Eric wr450
Nathan Hussie 310
Al wr250, nearing 11K !!!
Zeb submarine
the usual took place and off we go to an area I'm not familiar with. The first hill was describe as formidable and difficult. Well, it was that and got the heart pounding and the blood pumping. Forgive me if I can't remember the names of the tracks but they are just a blur compared to the adrenalin rush I had for the day. He's a great bloke Al, checked on my welfare a couple of times throughout the day. "I'm good mate, but please check on Zeb !" The day started with me thinking I should pack my spray jacket just in case, gotta love Mel weather, but I didn't and at the end of the day the sun came out. Perfect. First hill was a slippery sucker with "a mine shaft at the bottom" this is where I made a mental note to avoid the mine shaft. After a regroup the pace picked up and the tracks varied. Tight, fast, technical, glass like and a combination of the above. We rode into an oasis around 12 midday where two lovely ladies were cooking a bbq, kebabs and snags with a variety of condiments and a cold soft drink. I had plenty, but that's me. A good chin wag and laugh at lunch and we were lovin' it. Gotta love it when a dad takes his 4 year old son, Cooper, for a ride around the lunch spot on his steed. The smile on the kids face was memorable. Good on ya Al. We only had 40 k's under our belts at this stage but a refuel ment longer stints we expected. More tracks of varied difficulty were introduced and all coped well given the wet conditions and unfamiliarity with the area. First river crossing came as no surprise as we were told to expect a couple, thigh deep and we all made it through except for the 2 banger. Drowned it up to it's chin did young Zeb, good learning experience, in Eric's words "could be worse, could be me !" Dewatered and off we go, pace picked up a tad as the tracks we drying out, encountered the steepest downhill I've ever seen (help me Al with the name) had to walk my bike down the 800 meters. Never done that that before ! I think it was called M F'er hill. I'll now make it quick as the clocks ticking away. One more river and most had issues, not serious, but helping each other and the bikes. Some narrow stuff and a quick blast back to the cars and f me its 6.45pm. 132k's on my speedo and a great day, only one front flat with 20 minute to go. I got home at 8.30 and headed out to meet my family at a 50th. People kept saying to me "whats wrong with you ?" I just replied,  "I've been ridin' with Al Mason !". They gave me a high five and left me and my smile alone. I was still on a riding high. You know, I've got lots of mates but this club introduces me to self minded people who make who I am. I don't want to get all teary and precious, but Saturdays ride will go down in my book as a great day. A great day for all the right reasons. A day that allows riders to do what they love, just ride. Anyways, good on ya Al and the other boys for the day. See you soon.

PS. Al, thank the girls again for the petrol drop off and the bbq. I'm sure Cooper had a long bath !!!

PPS. Zeb, I didn't crack on too much about you learning on the day did I mate ? If Saturday was a learning experience you should now be Julius Summner Miller. Ha Ha Ha.

PPPS. Peter Monty, you missed a great one, and I remembered all their names !!!

Cheers, Stuart. AKA Lefty.

Stuart,
Good report mate, from the heart and called is as it was.
Also carried my spray jacket, and turned out to be unnecessary although in sub alpine conditions who knows?
Lunch was a real treat, like being in a Cafe in the middle of nowhere!
You rode a great steady pace all day on a Clubman ride in many area's and yes Al is a caring soul.

Cheers Lefty. Glad your fears were unfounded and you stepped up to take on the challedge. You made that first hill like it was nothing, and beleive me it has claimed some of Amtra's finest. From that point i knew you would chug alone fine, as you did. Glad to have you along on any of my rides if your game? That hill you speek of is marked on the map as "a nasty bike eating hill" and we rode it after it had been graded!!  Coop slept on the way home and had a shower before Nath and i got back, and was ready for Daddy's attention once i walked in the door. Got to love kids, he didnt care i'd been on the bike for 9hrs. Thanks for the good report and good rap, Al
Ps I will post a few picks soon.
