What a great weather report, Low 20's no rain & great sunshine. Traveling through Powelly the fog was laying in the valleys, as the sun broke through you could see it was going to a pearler ride day.

Parking at Als elected point was fun as some campers decided to beat us all there. Let them have the mosquitoes I say. ( Fumina is ancient aboriginal for air of biting mozzies! I dont think I ever have been bitten before, except for every time I go to Fumina!) Brief meet up with all the riders, the obligatory paperwork, riders briefing & on the road. Ha ha nice warm up up a slippery track hidden off the road. By the first stop we had lost a rider due to prior medical condition. The sun was shinning & we were into it.

The tracks were great, on the first forest road (transport section I call them) I waited as corner man for a while. Enjoying some tunes provided by campers there. After some time & concern I was relieved of my post to head back & find Lefty fixing a rear flat. Gaz & Lefty were enjoying themselves so much that it felt wrong, very wrong to interupt so I left them too it! ( Na they were nearly finished)

The up hills were fantastic, some water bars if picked on incorrectly would send a rider & bike some amazing distances into the bush.

First river crossing saw 3 bikes washed all over, as well as one rider given an excellent spa bath all over. ( Dave I know the bike is new, but trying that hard to clean it is wrong!) Even our intrepid leader Al, decided to ensure he had the full Fumina experience & was found dewatering with the best f them. I came within a bee's penis of washing the internals on my bike here too, but as luck would have it I managed to rescue it!

Lunch break was just after, Als family had brought in the fuel supplies & set up a BBQ with Snags & Onions was well as cold drinks. Many thanks Shaz & dad for doing this for us all.

At this point those with funny coloured motor oil or concerns about their bikes after hitting the river returned to the start. Al handed over lead to Dave  & we were off again, as we moved further north the tracks changed again, with a couple of slippery long tracks that would catch you out if unaware.

The arvo section was a treat and we all enjoyed the mix of tracks & fun. I tried to impersonate a Kebab at the local cafe! By picking up a stick in my left shoulder, as I tried to stop after it hit me I thought I was in trouble because I couldnt feel anything & the stick had broken off & was still hanging out of my armor. Luckily it had only caught up in my riding gear, no serious damage although it did rattle the rest of my ride. Thanks to the guys who came to my assistance.

On a nice little slippery downhill one of the riders caught a rut a bit wrong & pulled the handle bars off his Berg, Luke was heard to offer of assistance by cable tying the bars onto the tripple clamp! The reply cant be published here! LOL . Well done to all those who fixed this problem as it was seriously looking like a big headache to extract the bike.

Some awsum memorable hill climbs with even larger water bars were to be had on the way back. I think we hit 100k for the day, which ment no one was really worn out, but everyone was happy with the awsum day.

Special thanks to GAz on sweep for the day, well done mate. I know we all appreciate the job done.

I look forward to the next Fumina ride.

Cheers Pete for the report. A mixed day for me. Very happy the way the morning loop all linked together and flowed. (apart from bike issuses?) And the look of total confusion on peoples faces with the direction from where we had come to where we were was cool. Going down Telcom Track after the que jumpers bet me was fun to, as local knowledge let me pass 3 or 4 down the nasty hill in the correct rut! As soon as i entered the river before lunch i knew i was in trouble, as i was a foot to far left. And the current was going to turn me, and it did!! The de-watering was quick and easy for me and was not expecting the oil to cop that amount of yuck? Dave has done my ride a lot and it a trusted hand at being a ride leader. Tim also offered me his bike to finish leading the day (Thanks Tim), but did feel right to me. I hope everyone who attended the (short)ride enjoyed the day and was what they were expecting? Till the next one, thanks to the riders, Gary for tailman and dave for taking the lead, Al

Great report Peter,

After I saw you come down the first hill for second go I thought what am I in for? After inspection of the Husagerg at home I found no water in the engine Grin Grin go the two bangers.

Thanks to Gazza for the tail duties and to AL for organizing and leading the first half of the ride.
