Title: Mullungdung social ride
Post by: sandra(bob) on October 26, 2013, 09,01:17 AM
Johnny and I camped at the off loading point on the Friday night joined by Bob Duckett, Rossi and Caroline, Al and Shaz and Phil Randall joined us for dinner and entrusted us to look after his bike and trailer while he drove to Yarram to get a goods nights sleep.

Saturday morning saw us all up and about and breaky over and done with by the time the gang arrived...

Lots of chit chat and socialising saw us ready for a ride brief and take off a bit after 9 with me leading my first group (and Al being my point man  :)-thanks ) and the ever reliable Freddo as my tail while  Johnny took the level 2's off through the gully system to meet up with us level 1's along the way.
So of course as the ride leader...I know nothing...so may the stories begin by anyone who was behind...
The weather was so perfect...sun was out, blue skies, 17 degrees...apparently some people were put off by the weather wherever they live....but let me tell you - it was spot on at the fabulous Mullungdung State Forest  ;D, so that was a shame for those folks.
We had a light drizzle of rain at one point in the afternoon which lasted all of 5 minutes then the sun was back out.
A slight bike issue held us up for about 20 minutes or so...but that sorted we were on our way again...onya Bill ;)...oh and Bill...its called a kick start-there is no button for that :P.
The rest of the morning loop ran well  :P( after an issue with a corner man or should I say NO CORNER MAN)...Unfortunatley this was a problem as we (Johnny and I) had stated at the briefing that when we were all travelling together that there would be 2 on a corner....for some reason this rule was abandoned at a particular corner hence some riders went straight instead of left...causing about a 1/2 hour hold up...fortunatley due to hand held radios we had contact with different people and we were all back together again....after I think what must have sounded like me as a Mum telling the kids off, reiterated once again what the corner man system is - we were back on our way... suffice to say there no cornerman issues after that  ;D
After this a Non Amtra member (so new to the whole system) apologised and explained how the mistake happened (poo happens) at least he put his hand up and accepted responsibility - he now he knows exactly how it works  ::)-

Lunch back at the cars...
but not before Mick (new nickname Gerry - theres a story there  ;D) ran out of fuel - bring in the tow rope and a helping hand - cheers Freddo & Gary- The afternoon loop saw Lefty run out of fuel too ??? ??? ???....What happened mate  ;D
Anna took a tumble and banged her bonce..but got up and off she went again...
I dropped my bike trying to take it over a log...Shaz laughed...then she got stuck...on same log....so I laughed "Onya Shaz"
Johnny drowned himself in a huge puddle - but it wasnt through falling off  ??

Al Mason, falling over his own feet, twice, in about 30 seconds...Hes gonna have to explain that one  ;D

I found my self hugging a tree and going splat - putting my day to an end about 1/2 hour before the ride was finished with a sore hand (maybe a broken finger)to be checked out tomorrow...and may I say...ORGANISED RIDES !! This is what makes them so good....
I did have a nasty one...I came over an erosion mound and on the other side is a bit of a spot where water had run down the road and to me appeared to be a bit if a rut...so as I landed in the rut - instantly sat down on the seat (first mistake) powered on to get out of said rut...this lifted the front wheel and caused me to go trekking across the track...somewhat with not all the control I would have like....this is where the tree came into the picture....and I went bang, bounce, crash, ricochet and then ever so elegantly go splat on the track....this is where it is great to be part  of an organised ride...I had 2 Tailman as in Freddo and Gary  Clarke and Al Mason was Cornerman who was right there aswell who just kicked into action straight away and looked after the situation and again the radio came in handy as the guys were able to let Johnny know what was going on - oh and this is the part where Al fell over his own feet but I sadly missed it as I was too busy bouncing around on my arse on the track. ;D
So my thanks go to everyone who came on the ride to once again support Level 1 rides and just to have a fun day on the bikes.
Big thanks to...
Rossi, Gary, Al, Fred, Grandpa, Gary Barnes, Menace ,Bill (no start) Toan, Bob Duckett, Lefty for going above and beyond to help...and for the Woo hoo's .
And to anyone else who just stepped  up when needed.
Tail Duties...
Gary (cupcake) Clarke
Freddo Flats....thanks guys for this awesome task done by you both ...all day - you rock. ;D ;D ;D

Dave: For the shower  :o

Caroline and Christine and Toby: For looking after the camp site and keeping the fire going  ;D

Marls: Huge thanks to you for cutting your ride short to road leg it back with me after my spill - thanks mate ;D ;D ;D

Phil and Rossi: Floating through the pack and just looking out for people that might need help and just being there.  ;D

EVERYONE: for being there and enjoying the day and the laughs and the poo stirring and just everything that everyone did to make for a great day.

Al, Freddo and Gary Clarke: Major thanks for looking after me  :-*

So long for now.....love Bob

Hey Bob, once again thanks to you and Johnny for organising the day. It ran smoothly, as evident of the constant high turn up to these rides. Well done to all involved. Next time we are going to stay the night. Do you ride on the Sunday or just pack up and go home ??
In relation to running out of fuel with 4km's of the ride to go. I have been in touch with the Chief Engineer of Husqvarna and he advises me there is a world wide recall of TE449s. This is due to a fuel blockage to the main feeder valve locator electronic sensor control computer electrode (more technical terms) panel and he was glad I brought it to his attention.
See ya next ride...

PS. What is the forecast for weather at Woodside on the 29th of January, 2014. We plan to ride and camp for a few days...

Thanks Bob and Johnny for putting on this ride, I had an awesome time. It is deffinatly the biggest ride ive done since I started riding and I am feeling the after affects at the moment. A big thank you to the guys that helped me pick my bike up and get me going again after I dropped it a couple of times trying to get up the other side of the gully's (not sure if I thanked them at the time as I was completly exhausted and a little frustrated with myself).
It was great to meet some of the members and put some names to the faces. I really enjoyed myself and look forward to the next one.

Cheers

Great day and ride Goey's ;D ;D

Shaz and I rolled into the car park around 10pm on Friday night, after driving in rain the whole way down.  :-\
After setting up the bed for the night and a bit of a chat with everyone it was off to bed. Waking in the morning there, rather than driving 3hrs first was great!!!

Bob had asked me if I would do point man duties for her to replace Will who was no longer coming. The bonus to this just is on Johnny's sections you get to do point man for him and just have a great time chasing the ride leader ::)

The day flowed very well, with minimal hold ups for such a large group, and the group mixed very well for such a large skill range as well. I had a great day, and after lunch got to ditch the vest and ride around with Shaz. Well when I wasn't racing Row  ;) I raked up 125ks for the day and Shaz 133.

Shaz had a great day and was very pleased with all the comments on how much she has improved in both pace and skill level. She also want to thank everyone whom help along the way with standing the Yami up :-* She did an awesome job finishing the whole day, including Johnny's tracks. I got the impession on the way home she had had big day out on the bike once the snoring started from the passenger seat on the way home  ::)

I manage to have no problems staying on the bike all day. But standing on my own two feet, proved a bit more difficult. As I stood on a corner late in the day, I watch Bob come over a large sandy uphill whoop. When she landed in a rut she powered on, and on and on. And with the front wheel aloft, she found stearing and braked were affected enough that a large tree would have to suffice for brakes. I knew she had given herself good reason for some clean under wear as I could see the whites of her eyes as she saw the tree coming. In my hast to run over, I dropped my bike and pinned the back of my boot under the exhaust and fell flat on my face. Once I drag my boot out and started to run over to her, I made a calculation error on how fast legs will moved in bike boots compare to my upper body. Yep, flat on my face again  ??? Once up, I made some more progress in her direction. Well before another calculation error in the height required for my boot to clear a tree root  ??? Yep, flat on my face again ??? However, close to giving up I did push on once more and swooped it to save the day, which I did  ;D

Thanks for the day Grasshopper and Johnny.
Thanks to everyone who came to enjoy the day.
See you on the next one, Al and Shaz

Once again a very well organized ride, thanks to Bob and Johnny for putting it all together and to pointman Al and tails Garry, Freddo. This time we decided to hitch up the swag and camp a couple of nights, sure beats getting up at 4 am, riding all day, then getting home at 9, highly recommend the camping option. looking forward to the next one..

Did Lefty run out of fuel?

It was an awesome day. I do love riding at wood side and I even enjoyed the woops for once. Was great to catch up with everyone who was there.
And to hang pooh on those flaccid few that weren't. Haha
Teaching Bill to start his bike again was easy once he learned the first lesson...... Listening to what I say!!!
Who says you can't teach a rabid old dog a new trick ;D

I want to thank all involved for a top day, especially Bobbo for the cuppa!
I made a dash home early to get to a party which ended up being perfect timing.
I am still sore all over from riding which means it was a good day and my head is still sore from drinking which means it was a good party.

Thanks groovers, need to do it again soon :)

A big thank you to Sandra and Johnny for putting on a really great fun ride (Bob, hope the hand heals quickly), the woodside area was a real surprise for riding enjoyment. A great bunch of people to ride with on the day. Camping will be the go next ride, even though the camper trailer won't be up there with the Rossi standard of swag. cheers

Another Mullungdung ride done and dusted,, Thanks for all the positive comments on the day and here in the ride reports.,
Apart from the cornerman hiccup as previously discussed the day went well, a couple of bike issues but that stuff happens.
A stand out on the day for me was to see the Husband /wife interaction whether that was on the trails or at the campsite, nice to see the shared interest. Another standout was the father/son combo, good on you Lefty and Sean.
thanks every one for coming along and making the day what it was, cos with out you it wouldn't happen.
Now last but certainly not least I would like to make a special big thanks to Gary Clarke, fred Shenko, and Al Mason, who were there when Bob had her off, I think we all know how it is when its one of our mates lying on the track hurt, but when it is your best mate, love of your life that is the one that is down it is not a nice feeling at all,, so to know I had these three guys looking after her it made (what seemed like a long ride back )the ride back a bit easier.  So once again, thanks guys, to know it was you three made all the difference. Turned out to be nothing more than a broken nail a few tears and bent pigtail but I didn't know that at the time..
Catch you all on the trails soon  ;D

Johnny, looking after a fallen Bob is all part of the Amtra family working as it should.

I know im enjoying my chosen sport a lot more now that im sharing it with Shaz and Coop. And on level 1 and 2 days when i put my hand up to do point dutie, tailman or goffer on the day. Its the fact that i know Shaz will be looked after and the assistance given to her just as i would, in my absence that lets me do those rolls.
