What a great day for a ride,, rain over night left the mornings tracks in excellent condition,, an off by Greg left him chest sore ,, so he decided to pull the pin after lunch and head home---- hope the injury was'nt as you thought Greg and the ribs are ok, .... A more detailed report to follow , but everyone left on Saturday afternoon  somewhat fatigued but with big smiles on their dials,,,,  160-170 km for the day and only the lack of fuel and day light stopped us.     More to come......................
 part two...........
 Ok ,back to the start- With myself and eight other riders all revved up and keen to go and a brief ride briefing done with, it was time to get this show on the road Cheesy,,, my biggest piece of advice was to not sway to the temptation of going hell for leather in the first hour or so,, as this place just begs you to get on the throttle ( note to self---take note of your own advice  Tongue ),, a reasonably quick blast to the first curve ball -a bloody hill, cripes where did that come from?? well not really a hill, but in this area they are few and far between, then a quick zip to what I affectionately call the "death bowl" ,, I am assuming everyone went through it and not around, nothing technical just a fun thing with a chance to demonstrate ones crusty demon side on the exit  Grin Grin. From here it was into the first bit of narrow stuff with an unexpected deep rut or two thrown in for good measure  Shocked, on the exit of this a quick chance for a photo or two from our fabulous support crew, Al even managed a mono for the camera, didn't you Al?
 From here it was a short road leg to the first of the sand and the first of the woops, not that there are many of them  Wink Wink Wink , well actually there's more than one or two or three  Grin . This section led into what I have been told was part of the A4DE back in the nineties, to me this part is riding heaven,, tight, twisting, a woop or two, an open section, a tree, oh that's right that's the one I ran into, got a bit keen there,- great, no one was watching  Cheesy-, I got the feeling that everyone else was enjoying this section too, as there was talk by some of certain parts of a males anatomy being hard, but it was only talk, and no proof was obtained., From here it was a quick blast to what I call the "Sandy wooped Track", this track you can absolutely hammer down, throttle pinned, a blast!!!!, just not long enough Smiley, We passed another group of riders who had pulled over out of the way and as it happened they were also fellow AMTRA members and friends, ( Paul & Annie, Mark,&Steve), a quick zip along "bog hole track" and then a really neat track that I have only recently discovered -awesome- narrow, trees to jump over, fast, did I say awesome?.  Lunch time...............Our fabulous support crew were patiently waiting at the Big Tower for us, the billy was hot, the welcome and smiles were in abundance and the sh*t slinging was in full force. It was at this point that Greg said he was a bit sore and would like to sit the afternoon leg out-our support crew led Greg back to the cars but only after another photo shoot of us playing on the exit of another new track I have only recently discovered, affectionately known as "Coops Track", which is a super fun narrow track to ride,,,from here was into the "gully System", we had also picked up Paul Bryce for the afternoon leg as he and the others were camped at the lunch spot, this area has one main gully that runs through it and the track criss crosses it several times,the interesting thing here though is that the area is basically flat and then all of a sudden the track just disappears -sometimes vertically 4-5 metres into the gully and pops out just as quick, I really like riding here and did a sneaky revisit a couple of times, somehow I think they were onto me folks Grin, the DSE had burnt off part of my ride earlier in the week,but thankfully it hadn't affected the tracks too much, mind you a loaf of bread and a dozen snags would have gone down a treat, as by this time the sun was getting a bit lower in the sky and it was time to think about heading back to the trailers Sad . Zebs track, Steves track the dragstrip, Bobs corner and back to the trailers right??, um no, Tims outa fuel,, luckily Pauly was also on a 2T so a quick decant from his bike and into Naths containers and lets go, The dragstrip says it all ,just a super quick ride, oh hang on it's dusk and is that a Kangaroo- no- it's 6 of the buggers, ok get off the throttle Johnny and use your head, so a nice sedate ride back to the trailers, but not before a "crikey" moment when I nose dived over an erosion mound, complete with feet off the pegs and a this isn't going to end up well feeling, but it did,,, "did you see that" I said to Nathan, "yep, I did the same thing"  Grin Grin, funny as! and so did Karl on that bloody great DRZ400 he was riding as though it was a 250 crosser Smiley Smiley . So just a quick blast back in the fading daylight to be met by Shaz, Coop, and Bob, who I must say made this day so much easier, by carrying the fuel and lunches and by just being there, awesome job.  So there you go- Stradbroke and surrounds........ come and see for yourself  Wink

Great ride Johnny!! Thanks for putting it on. I will be on the next one for sure! Thanks to Bob, Shaz and Coop for the support crew and carrying lunch and fuel.

Well if Johnny had scripted the perfect ride, he had only missed two things of the list.
1.   About seven more hours of day light
2.   Two more fuel stops (three for Timmy)


     What an absolute blast Johnny, nothing hard other than bike fitness and how hard to hit the woops. Started the day smiling and finished the smiling bigger. The group flowed very well and at a good pace. I hung back a bit in the morning to keep an eye on our tail man for the day Lefty as this was his first trip to the sand and woops of Woodside. The first real sand hill caused some grief for a few of the boys with it two foot washed out ruts randomly placed up its climb. I did walk down half way for moral support (and helmet cam footage) but after a few runs got to the top. The tracks kept coming until first catch up with support crew and photo opportunities as we missed the girls and Coop at the first spot due to Shaz driving to slow. (A first) And for me my first brown undies moment as whilst Bob took my photo, I thought I would show a little extra flare and as I exited the quarry wall by loft the front wheel as I headed to the regroup. Only issue was I got a tad excited with throttle hand and found near vertical very quickly, followed by stepping the rear out a foot or two as well. As the situation got worse and all I could do was pull on more throttle as the bike got further away, I actually have a brain wave. (Been a while) Bike have clutch and rear brakes for something, so I will give them ago. And low and behold I landed it, stayed upright and stopped in time all whilst deafening myself from my laughter. (Been a while also)
After that excitement, it then was back out to play in the woops and sand. After checking with Lefty and short chat. I thought, well I’m still alive and I’m still smiling and I love this place, so it was time to turn up the wick and have some fun. (Well my wick anyway) I just had an absolute ball up to the lunch stop making corner man quite often and even overtaking my way back up to corner man again. (Been a while) I even let Row passed in one of my favourite tracks, just so I could chase him! And I did well at it to, as he didn’t shake me.
After lunch and fuel stop by Bob, Shaz and Coop, Greg decided to pull the pin after an earlier over the bars dismount and subsequent sore ribs. We were soon back under way into some more favourite tracks, where we popped out at a fire dam to play on some jumps. As the group took off one by one to have ago, it soon was my turn. And no I didn’t sit on the side lines as usual and watch my mates have all the fun, and I went in search air time of my own. I didn’t break any records or do any heal clickers like Row, but for my mates there they could tell what sort of day I was having. (Been a while)
After some more pictures Tony decided the ride was running a little late for his family dinner so he would follow the support car back. The rest of us head for the sand and woops. As the light faded but not the enthusiasm the ride just flowed on and on, until Nath and I came across one stopped Timmy with his bike on the ground. With Timmy standing I figured a small drop, or he had trusted the KTM side stand? Instead it was his enthusiasm with the throttle he had emptied the fuel tank. Nath took off at Nath speed to track down the other two stroke on the ride as Lefty arrived, and I hooked up the tow rope to start making progress towards home. It wasn’t long and Nath met us along the trail with two more litres of fuel for Timmy and we were once again off for more sand and woops.
As we rolled in to the car park I don’t know what time the clock had stopped on, but the day light had! With a car park full of smiles and the support car and trailer unloaded. Johnny, Pauly and myself got an extra half hour (cold) night ride in till we got back to our camp spot to set up camp. Flanked by Bob and Shaz in the cars, thanks for the extra headlights girls and Nath for the lend of his enduro jacket we rolled into camp around 7:00pm.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support Johnny’s ride, I know the effort he and others had put in to make up this loop. (I was in the others group) Thanks to Bob, Shaz and Coop for support vehicle and lunch duties with camera duties on the side. Big thanks to Lefty for tail man all day, big effort mate for your first time out there. And most of all huge thanks to Johnny for leading a truly awesome day.

Great day out Johnny, the tracks and speed did push me at times but I had a ball. As I said to you and Al on the phone there were a few 'GUNS' going and I didn't want to slow them up all day. But, you guys were right and it turned out to be a great day. Man, 165 on my clock and I felt it the next day. Loved the couple of hours in the gully system before and after lunch. Well done to the lunch brigade, all smiles and banter and catching up with porky Paul and Annie.
Its a fair indication of a great ride Johnny when riders roll back to the cars and hang around till dark still talking about the tracks and stuff.
Well done. Its shows you put in a fair bit of planning and recon into that ride.

Top ride Johnny, thanks for letting me join in at lunch time.
Had an absolute ball on some fantastic tracks with a great bunch of guys to ride with. I gave Al a lesson on how NOT to do a log crossing which I'm sure was very amusing and had a fair bit of poo stirring banter with Lefty who did a fantastic Job as tailman.
Look forward to the next one.

Dear god the smile is still on my face from Saturdays ride it was actually THAT GOOD!!!

Thanks for the fuel support guys I honestly didn't think i was going to get close to the bottom of my tank considering i took and used 18 liters but alas I ended going through exactly 20 liters in the end... Undecided must of been having too much fun. Grin

I wear my jim jams so if I fall off I can say I was having a nap. Nothing wrong with been mistaken with Nath out on the trail, my riding has really improved.
