Due to seasonal track closures etc I could not do this the way I quiet wanted to do it but not to worry it was still a great ride.
Well we started out with 14 names on the ride list which over the last couple of weeks quickly dwindled down two 6.
The weekend started on Friday night when we all met at the bunkhouse in Blores Hill caravan park in Heyfield.
Pommy Mat and I and Colin were the last to get there and as soon as we arrived the usual shut stirring started which like most of my rides was the flavor for the rest of the weekend.
We started heading for bed at around 11.30 and was woken at 6.30am by the alarm clock, we had brecky and some had to fill there spare fuel containers and organize them selfs and we set of at 8.15am for the DSE unloading area at Cheynes Bridge.
It was a bit over cast but warmish, we left the unloading area around 9.15am and straight into an over grown unused track and I got to the end to find no one behind me, waiting, waiting, and waiting for what seamed to be for ever I started heading back to be met by the group, Rossi who had decided that strapping his 5 litre jerry can to the back of his bike via duct tape was a good idea found out straight away that it was not as the first incline and of it came.
Anyway once we regrouped we headed of up and onto Burgoynes to Mt Margaret with the rain now just starting where we headed south to Golden Point and onto the Avon Rd and onto Ben Cruachan to Tackle the 16 or so River crossings.
All bar one went well and lucky me found the deep end of one with the bike flaring out as the cool river water was lapping at my testies. Push the bike out as far as I could and then Rossi and Colin coming to me rescue getting there feet wet . A quick dewater and we were off once more heading to Huggets for lunch arriving there around 1 ish.
We had a good laugh when we noticed Frankie was eating a can of Snappy TOM CAT FOOD, apparently he had picked the wrong can up out of the pantry, but as he was enjoying eating it so much we figured it must be on his stable diet, maybe thats why he can still ride like a demon.
Anyway we headed off over the Avon at Huggets and we headed up Huggetts Mt Angus Tk with the rain really settled in for the Arvo and with 80 odd Klms to go I had to set a good steady pace and onto the other end of Avon Rd and more river crossing. We went through one fairly narrow crossing but boy was it deep and had a regroup but no Pommy Mat who was our tailman, so we waited and waited and eventually Colin headed back to look for him, still waiting for a while we decided that we should also head back to find out what was going on. Mr I like standard tubes had got a flat on one of the many rocks and stones which the rock fairy had left out for us to play on had to fix a flat front tyre. Once again we were back into it with time quickly getting away so it was about the next 70kls of no rest stops just quick regroups along the way, we headed back up mt Margaret in the opposite direction with poor Dexter starting to loose feeling from the cold and wet. by this stage the trails were truelly wet and getting slippery with Pommy Mat sliding right past me, down one hill, and pushing me out of his way on his way past, I was having so much fun just trying to keep my wheels turning, next thing I was just trying to stay on my bike, thanks mate.
We eventually made it back to Burgoynes and headed back down the stair case and back to the unloading area arriving at around 4pm with 153 odd klms under our wheels we were all looking forward to some adult drinks. Quick load up and change and back to the caravan park to hit the showers.
Rossi organized a bus from the pub to come out and pick as up and take us all into town to have dinner at the pub then the same bus brought us back to the park for a cost of $1 per head each way, what a bargain. As everyone was getting into the shut stirring some more I headed for the hay absolutely knacker ed by this stage so I left them to it.
What a great weekend was had by all and thank you to the 5 who joined me in what was a great adventure.
After lunch we all made sure we stayed up wind of Frankie and out of line of sight of his Fish breath. Apparently he was having trouble breathing last night due to a Fur Ball problem, not sure what would have brought this on, LOL

Thanks for the ride Will and everyone else. It was a great ride and l had a ball! can't wait to do it again. It's been so long since l had any steady rain on a ride that l didn't even think about bringing the jacket. l had a thermal top, t-shirt, body armour and jernsy on and l was soaked to the bone.
Cheap helmet cameras aren't woth it l only got about 90 seconds of good footage.
p.s l drained my tank and still had 5 ltrs in it!

sounds like i missed a top ride but i broke my finger the other day at work so i had no chance of this one.i'll still see you boys at htfu 3.5 broken finger and all.

Another great ride Will, I love the high country, much better then Neerim me thinks,yeah it was a good laugh when we saw Rossi's fuel container hanging off the back of his Husky, it lasted until the first hill climb Grin

ya not gonna live that down mate Grin

the only tricky hill was the stair case on Burgoynes track. As Will said it was wet, but plenty of grip even with half worn tyres,we only had one drowned bike, I'm happy to say that it wasn't me this time Grin

round about 10 km to go we arrived at Huggetts for lunch. It was time to put my plan into action,while I was waiting for the rest to arrive at the caravan park, I got this bright idea to play a trick on the fellas on the ride, I drove into Hayfield & bought a tin of snappy tom cat food, then removed the label & stuck it on my tin of vegetables & sausages, Mat was the first to notice it, you should have seen the look on his face, he said something like,....ooooohhhh no your eating cat food, I said what! he then said it again, then the rest of the fellas heard it & looked at me in disbelieve, I then said, bloody hell I've picked up the wrong can, I then said I'm very hungry & it tastes good I'm sure it won't kill me & kept eating, the blokes were laughing & shaking their heads, I can't remember who it was I think it was Mat that offered me a can of tuna, that was the high lite of the day for me, I still had to laugh to my self a few times on the way back to the cars.The good thing about being in a club is getting to know ppl & having a good time, it's not about only riding bikes, it's having fun with ya mates.
Back to the ride, it rained the last bit of the ride & the tracks were getting wetter,riding along the flat tracks between the river crossings with a few water holes, I came around a bend straight into one of em, no time to do anything I couldn't see anything for a split second, glad I had a water proof top on Grin

it was a great weekend had plenty of laughs, looking forward to the next one.

I spent Saturday up at Mt Big Ben near Yackandanday, nice wet and greasy ride there too.

WARNING
Duct tape aint what it used to be. Not suitable for attaching 5 ltrs of fuel to rear guard, but will cause hysterical laughter from fellow riders. Grin
