The old Murrindindi, as I remember it, has not changed much. Most of the tracks came back to me, though there is considerably more ruts to contend with and the major roads appear to be more rocky than I recall.  Mind you I had the map out a bit more often.  There were a lot of other bikes about and a number of 4 x 4's.  I think it is a pity the four wheelers insist on following one an other like trains on rails, digging continuous trenches.
We worked our way around from the carpark via Wee Track, Flat Track, Gutter Track and Ridge Track and Dawson track up to the power lines lookout and down via Horseyard Track, always a good hoot. Aeroplane Track and Lukes Track took us to Two Hills Road. These two strokes Huh, they should be dragging their own fuel tanker Grin Grin.  Ted and I needed a coffee at Glen Burn while a couple of them fueled up and back for a last loop on the way back to the cars.
Not Much Help Track lived up to its name. Fortunately we got almost to the top before my bike decided it wasn't going anywhere, engine running but wheel not turning, and we had to push it the last couple of hundred metres.  What to do!.  We were a fair way from the cars and with the tracks full of bog holes and ruts towing it back was not an exciting option. The road down hill to Toolangi was a good option so we did that and returned to the cars leaving Greg sitting on the side of the road contemplating his exams he had the following day, today Grin Good luck Greg. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes.
So all in all it had been a good day. Glorious weather, mostly good tracks, though some of the wet ruts were a mystery as to the depth of the bottom.
Thanks to all for your support.

On the way home I considered so many possible scenarios of what my bike was trying to tell me, and by the time I got home had almost convinced myself to throw it in the bin Angry.  However in the light of day I realised that the clutch was simply not engaging.  A quick investigation  revealed that the adjustment of the internal pushrod was too long and did not allow the plates to close completely.
I punish the clutch considerably on these boggy and lumpy tracks and had simply worn enough of the plates to stop them engaging.
All is well that ends well,  have ordered new friction plates. See you next ride.

Thanks Phil for organizing yesterdays ride. It was a perfect day for it and great fun. According to my odometer we rode close to 130km and I'm feeling a bit bum sore and stiff today but both Greg and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Glad to hear your bike will be a simple fix.
