Title: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: Brad on November 13, 2010, 09,16:28 PM Yep, it was a wet ride the rain and fog lifted on occasion and it was still warm, made it hard to work out what to wear.
Twenty eight brave souls turned out for the day and after the rider briefing we headed off around 9am. The tracks were OK, not water logged and the group moved well despite it being difficult to see through ones goggles. Got to the first corner and ripped of the rain jackets as a few folks were overheating. Due to the weather, kept the ride moving with a few L1 and L2 splits, which all worked out pretty good. Down to the Tanjil river for lunch and then up the slippery staircase which was an absolute hoot! Davids bike did not like this hill and wouldn't start so it was towed for a while and I brought the group back to see how we could help. Folks worked on the bike and just when it was time to get moving it came back to life and off we went on the return leg which by now was water logged making the L1/L2 ride into something allot harder. It was a challenge for the L1's getting out of Fumina up a slippery hill which was managed with low tyre pressure and assistance. As we had lost some time changed the route back to aim for a 4pm finish. We traveled well however Davids bike stopped again and the tracks had gotten worse. The ground could not hold any more water as there were small rivers now running down all the tracks. Jarrod towed David (and coated him in mud)like an expert and was diverted around an ugly hill on the way back assisted by Simon and Fred. Al and I took the group back until we hit as Paul called it "A Hill to Far" (great name) which was super slippery with about a third of the guys making it up. We needed to get back people were wet, tired and running out of fuel. Those who made the top were sent to the cars and Al and I headed back down to regroup and go the long way around. On the way back down a orange clay section there three 4WD's stuck (looked like they would be there all night) which we all got around and rode the road back arriving at the cars less three riders. Nathan took his car and trailer to have a look (thanks mate) and Zeb arrived informing us Stan had run out of fuel and they couldn't get it started once some more fuel went in. Al dinked Stan back with Zeb then Jarrod assisted to taking his ute (and Stan) back to get the bike which they got started and we were all back at the cars around 5.30pm. My odometer showed 115K's however each persons will vary on this ride due to loops etc.. The ride list was saturated and I have done my best to get each persons details down, sorry for any mistakes. Looking forward to seeing peoples photo's? Thanks to everyone for their company and patience. cheers for the day put me down for the next one. ps. buzz not going tail man on the next ride.. Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: AL on November 13, 2010, 11,14:15 PM Good ride Brad in those conditions. However you needed to lift your game, i showed 133ks on the clock? (you must of slacked off somewhere) And as i predicted the Fumina clay played a very big part in how the group traveled and the fun it caused.(love that stuff!) But in all the group and yourself moved well. A few of the newby's could do with some info and help with what their bike need in the way of maintance and what to carry. (which does come with experance) Also was good to have a ride with no cornerman issuses, just a few with courtsey issuse towards tail and corner men? (never a good idea, when you may need their assistance later?) Had a good day and got to ride a few diffderent bikes for the day. Was also good to see the level 1's fist pumping at the top off that hill as they managed it. (level 1's, you were no messier than quite a few of the level 2's on their hill.) GOOD EFFORT!! And apoligise to anyone i kicked out of the rut on the nice clay hill when i was getting to the top as tailman to inform Brad of the dramas back at the bottom! Cheers Al
Ps. How many clubman points can you get for one ride? Duties. -assistant ride leader -tail man -bike picker upper person -fuel delivery person -taxi Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: Brad on November 13, 2010, 11,29:54 PM Al and Jarrod, thanks for all your assistance.
Tailman is a rotation duty so it shouldn't happen twice in a row. The L1's yesterday afternoon were really all L2's in those conditions. Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: Wade E on November 13, 2010, 11,35:11 PM Thanks Brad for a great ride. Heres some pics of day.

Confusiouse says when your extremley out of shape going up a hill sometimes its not a great idea to gunn it ( still have visions of the tree i just missed ) ... :o
Had a ball especially trying to chase Mark down and yes Al the fist pumping was appropriate another good lesson about tire pressure for us newbies . >:( Another great ride and with a great bunch of blokes , I will never forget the state of poor old Dave when Jarrrod towed him mack to the re - group he looked like a clay sculpture :D DAVE WE FEEL FOR YA ! Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: MarcL on November 14, 2010, 08,29:17 AM Great report Brad, But i noticed you left out the part where you borrowed Nathan's bike...... "You popped his cherry"
Zeb, your tree was only an inch from introducing it's self to you, I had a great view of it & I was amazed on how you missed it ! See you all on the next one (or at least once I get the radiator straightened) Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: SCHEVY on November 14, 2010, 09,39:18 AM Hi all,
Frogman, Bob & I arrived at the Noojee unloading area in rain, fog, drizzle, hurricanes, cyclones etc.. After a bit of encouragement from the lads, we geared up and got ready and after the rider briefing, Ted & I decided to split from the group to do our own minus level 1 ride...(no-one else was interested) ???. We rode up the road for about 10 k's, rode up a track for about 200 metres which was like a river, was thinking hope the boys are enjoying this, fell off into a rutty boghole, got soaked right through, Ted asks me have you had enough, I said yes, so we headed back to base camp after about 20'ks on the clock. Sat around and chatted all arvo & got attacked by Yabbys, unbelievable but have the photo's to prove it below. Frogmans's view of the ride.... I took Wingman duties for the level 1 group for the day & Jarrod K was Wingman 2. as well as Bob the Medic. These were tough conditions we rode in compared to last time and everyone handled it pretty good. If anybody wants to learn some good pre-loading & jumping over obstacle skills, watch Jarrod K, some impressive pre-load jumps. Also well done to David who had a few bad offs, good to hear you're ok & kept at it. Also I nominate Jarrod to be our tow-out man "legend" for future rides; no one else saw what we endured to tow David out and those big roostings we copped on those greasy hills ::) Chinky our new AMTRA member, well done, didn't have to look after you at all ;D Brad, thanks again for a great ride...."Book Us In Danno" for your next one. Here are some pics from the end of the day, including some yabbby shots :) Cheers...Marls & Freddo BRAD'S NOOJEE FUMININA RIDE 13TH NOVEMBER 2010 (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3436.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3443.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3445.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3446.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3447.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3453.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3454.jpg) "David copped a roosting" (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3448.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3449.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3450.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3451.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3452.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3456.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3457.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3458.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3459.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3460.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3461.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3463.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3464.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3466.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3467.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3468.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3470.jpg) (http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/MARLSFRED/BRADS%20NOOJEE%20FUMINA%20RIDE%2013TH%20NOVEMBER%202010/IMG_3469.jpg) Until the next ride...."The End" Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: flipper on November 14, 2010, 10,14:38 AM Thanks for organising a great ride Brad - Now that I've sampled the Noojee mud, I'll put my name down for the next one.

"You popped his cherry" Zeb, your tree was only an inch from introducing it's self to you, I had a great view of it & I was amazed on how you missed it - :o ! See you all on the next one (or at least once I get the radiator straightened) Markus I think missing the tree was due to me closing my eyes. kinda thought if I close them then the impact would be a surprise and would not hurt as much .... Kidding it was pure skill of course :o Hope the radiator doesnt hurt the wallet to much :o Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: David on November 15, 2010, 02,19:30 AM well yes another great ride - and one where I got more than I bargained for - although as always a great learning ???
the bike is now well and truly ensconced at boltons with a view to a recovery this saturday - and after a bit of a look on sunday appears the issue was the "button behind the button" on the electic start was also broken - hence the issue - but brad - i have also asked for a new spark plug, a removal of the cutouts and the replacement with the various cable ties with something more akin to what came with the bike {michael i'll get the rim locks when the tyres are next done - at this stage about a fortnight!] also sincere thanks to all for the patience and good humour, to michael , simon, fred [and one or two others - names escape me] for the assistance with the bike - and also to jarrod for the tow out - now the ride itself was great but in parts paled into insignificance compared to being towed down the main road at 65km an hour :o [with no apparent control] now to get through a day at cobaw with Mat on the 28th.... finally thanks to Brad for leading and arranging the ride and Marls who can always be counted on to come up with a flattering photo...... Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: Brad on November 15, 2010, 07,16:45 AM David you keep going and two words come to mind persistence and encouragement. On that hill when you asked me if you could go around Saturday, it was possible. However it was very important to try; which with your bike concerns was even more difficult. The elation people feel when they do something they think they can't is fantastic for oneself and the group. Look at yourself going downhills now without issue, but awhile ago you were walking down, it's a big change in confidence and with more practice with get you to level 2 in no time. Well done!
Title: Re: Noojee to Fumina 13/11/10 Post by: Lefty on November 15, 2010, 03,28:33 PM Well done Brad, another great day. It was evident by the numbers how much we like your rides and riding in general even though the conditions were pooty.
PS. Thanks to all the Yammy riders who rode Paul Bryce's KTM up the hills for him. Well done. Stuart. ;D ;D ;D ;D |
