How great a day was it !!
Arrived with a little help from Marls, thanks, as I would have been hopelessly lost if you hadn't waited for me.
Arrived to find a fairly sizeable contingent of new and old, male and female, all riders really happy to be there.
Great job Bob getting it all together. 
Didn't know what to expect as the area is new to me and was keen to get into it. The ride briefing said it all, some sand, some water, some dust, some whoops but most of all some smiles and some fun. The flow of the ride was excellent with John co-ordinating the corner man positioning. 40ks in the morning with everyone getting through unscathed, one dead bike and a sad end to the day for Rocket. The afternoon saw a change in leader/tailman but it didn't change the flow or the fun. John, how on earth did you find time to have a lie down. Emma thought it was funny though. Can't remember the last time I laughed and smiled so much over a ride day.
Well done Bob, Marls, John, Paul for lead/tail duties. Well done to all the ladies that rode, great to see you on the trail.

Picked Rocket up at 6, in car park at Woodside by 8.30 after stopping for a coffee and chat with Marls in Yarram.  All excited to get going, Rockets first ride on the Drz, is trying it out before purchasing , come on Bob, stop all this chitty chat, let's get ridding... 1st corner said Drz has had enough, refuses to start with the button, maybe something to do with the size of the rider in the saddle, so a push start is the way, boy, that was hard work says me, I give some ridding advice to Rocket, try and keep the front wheel on the ground, Peter R, I think I've found you another rear wheelie freak!! Any way the Drz refused to play nice so a lunch time finish for us today.
Summary,, another well organized day by Bob and Johnny, the level 1 pace was surprising fast, the group of riders was the right group for this ride and we need to get another one in before Woodside dries out. Thanks to Marls for doing tail, who would of thought?? and to Al for the use of the tow rope to get the Drz back to the car park.

The Ingredients for A Perfect Ride at Woodside
A Tail Woman’s Story:

1. Early starts or distance do not matter, just set the alarm clock for 4am but get up at 4.30 & always run 5 minutes late.

2. Compulsory bakery stop at Yarram on the way through for brekky

3. Arrive right on time to pick up stray punter alias Oobgolfer at check point 2.

4. Set Temperature to a perfect 18 degrees, in a slightly cool to warm forest, partly cloudy with plenty of Sunraysia!

5. Try to arrive way ahead of start time, so can have compulsory gas-bag with fellows AMTRA Riders, take the usual paparatzi shots, unload all the shizen & then pile on all the 20kg of protection gear & bling, oops….can’t forget the first aid bum bag & of course, I am NOT  ready in time…20 pairs of eyes are watching…the natives are getting anxious.

6. Sandra aka Bob our fearless ride leader for the day, like a seasoned master chef, has a preach & dishes out our courses for the day, yum, this is gonna be one hell of a ride 
 
7. Ladies & Gentlemen, start your engines……Al, my shadow Tail Man, brings my Black Beast to life, while I’m madly trying to get it all together…the smell of gasoline & distant 2 smokers fills the air & we are now ready to hit it…....the sand that is.... the wonderful sands & woops & bog holes & tracks of Woodside….Your Dinner Is Served….

Now that I have the tail woman feather in my helmet, I must say it is a very rewarding experience to help people where needed; for once I’m at the back for a reason ..…hey Rocket, bet you didn’t think I ‘d have a tow rope or the WD40 on me ha ha..  Thanks Paully though, for for taking over the tail duties in the arvo loop & allowing me to unleash the ‘demon’ in the bike & ride “like a cut cat”
Thanks Sandra & Johnny for leading & organising the ride; I had a Jam ‘Ball’ Donut of a time & here are a few early morning pics of the day.
