Title: Long Cane harescramble, Abbeville SC 7-2-10 Post by: OZinUS on February 09, 2010, 05,04:03 AM Third week in a row for racing.. This time just over the Georgia border in South Carolina. We have had a wet six months or so. The ground is saturated and it rained last Thusday and Friday, about 3-4 inches. We knew there wasnt going to be any dust.
Senna raced at 10am. He did well, he got a bad start but came through after their first five mile lap in first and stayed there until the the finish, 3 laps later (http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e50/OZinUS/P2070133.jpg) (http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e50/OZinUS/P2070138.jpg) His bike was very muddy after the race (http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e50/OZinUS/P2070150.jpg) I raced at 12pm. We had a nine mile loop and it was nasty slick. Mainly clay and it was slick as pig snot. In the open pines you could hardly ride the trail so many alternate lines started to appear between the tree's. I fell down once by myself early. Then ran into another fella who dropped his bike right in front of me, I ended up with my bike laying on top of his bike. Got untangled with that and pushed or skated or paddled on as best I could. Even on the first lap the ruts were becoming huge. I got back to scoring to discover I was in 2nd, I grab a drink from my camelbak take a breather for about 60 seconds and head into another lap. You would look for arrows on the tree's as far away as you could see and ride towards them, trying to avoid the trail. I got tangled in vines and blackberry vines several times. There were bikes and people stopped everywhere around the trail. sore people, steamimng bikes etc. At the end of the 2nd lap I was still in 2nd place about the same time behind first. I called it quits and made it back to the truck, exhausted. I still finished in 2nd place for the day. Tough race, Bike before race (http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e50/OZinUS/P2070132.jpg) After the race (http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e50/OZinUS/P2070142.jpg) There is a front sprocket in here some where!
