Gotta say it was a long drive, so I was hoping this ride was going to be worth the trip. Nice easy run though, so that was a bonus. Arrival saw me pull up with Pete R & John T already parked & seated enjoying the arvo sun. Slowly the numbers built and by dark I think most people had hit the motel. Dinner at a local pub was an adventure, as 30 people rolled in & saw the publican ringing for help to prepare meals. The usual bullpoo stories floated around, jokes & various attacks on peoples sexuality etc were the order of the night. Most uncouth, particulary Serges joke about the crotchless knickers! LOL Sat morning saw an awsum day, the early light fog lifted before we were off & it was warm, dry & sunny all day. Tracks had been watered down for a couple of days prior, so dust wasnt an issue till late in the arvo. ( I can testify to the dust as I lost the group I was following in the dust. Only to find a rider pointing to slow down for a log! Haha too late & I was splashed all over the log !) The ride was very well run with 3 cornermen used due to the large group size, it worked perfectly & the whole lot kept up a good pace for the day. Lunch saw some weary riders recoup well. After lunch the pace seemed to pick up as the interstate rivalry seemed to seep in. Plenty of spririted riding & the KM's flew by. Riders briefing & we were warned of sink holes in tracks due to the wet weather. Dodge them at your own peril! These were a real treat as they form anywhere on any track & sometimes were big enough to swallow a 4WD. But I think the ride leaders plan to put caution riders just before these hazards worked a treat! The views were great from the lookout over Holbrook & northwards. Fantastic bush & ruins. All in all a great social ride I recommend for any of the members wanting to ride in a different area with some great company. Day 2 at the Holbrook enduro track saw many of the day 1 riders back out, I'm not sure but I think only 7-8 riders completed a loop of the track. More a tecnichal loop, with plenty of rock beds, ups, downs, ruts etc. Which I personally thought was a highlight of the weekend. Despite my sore ribs telling me one loop was enough! I think Nath, Al & a couple of others continued on for another! All in all, this was a great ride, I thank all the organizers, helper & people who did all the work to make the weekend so enjoyable. Special thanks to the CHEFS over the weekend. Breakfasts, dinner & ride lunch on the trail! Well organised and top food. What more can I say but Thanks!!!! Thanks to Shaz & Sam for the trail lunch & fuel DROP! Awsum weekend. Thank you everyone. If you signed up & didnt go you LOST OUT bigtime! DONT miss this ride if it is run again!! I have untold hours of video to edit into several videos of the ride. Please watch ride video links later in the week. Cheers Pete ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: AL on September 05, 2011, 03,00:04 AM Thanks Pauly for the arranging a good weekend. The ride flowed well and was a very quick pace i thought with that amount of riders. Enjoyed our Amtra's crews alot, with a very social weekend. Pat got to video me doing the walk of same, in what should have been my fortay. And then later got to see me hit the ground the hardest i can remember in a long time. Thanks also to the helpers on the weekend.
Cheers Al Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: Peter Monty on September 05, 2011, 03,11:38 AM Careful Al, people will think this was a hard ride. LOL

Thanks Paul, for putting it on mate, Don't know what happened to the cheque, it appears it never got there & wasn't cashed, all fixed now, money should be in your bank now. Seano & Rossi picked me up a bit before 11 a:m, it was nice to get driven for a change, thanks mate, on the way we stopped at a BP road house for lunch, we hadn't even got out of the car when Serge & Pat rolled up, after lunch Serge had to pick up a tank I think, so when he turned of the Hume we were back on our own again, we arrived at the Motel around 3:30 pm, Paul, Peter R John T & a couple of other fellas, sorry I've forgotten ya names, were already there pissing on & feeding their faces ;D After brecky we heady of for the unloading area, I was wondering how it was gunna go with 40 odd riders & new area for us vic'os, it turned out perfect, very well organized & great tracks, 3 ppl marking a corner worked very well, only one flat tyre for the day, most of the tracks were dust free, after a great bbq lunch the tracks were a bit more dusty, it didn't bother me that much, the pace picket up a bit more, it reminded me of my enduro days, riding the 300 on the main jet was a blast, I was enjoying it that much that when I saw the cars I was a bit disappointed that the ride was over, yeah I could have kept riding for another hour or so bloody top weekend, thanks to everybody that made it one of the best ride weekend away, if there's going to be another one next year, count me in. Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: Peter r on September 05, 2011, 07,53:33 AM Thanks Knackers for organising a ripper ride, same time next years sounds like a good idea !!
It's good to catch up with the AMTRA crowd and hang sh!t on each other. The ride: What could i say that fella's haven't already said, the speeds on some trails were right up my alley, nothing like drifting into a corner on full lock sideways at warp factor 9, them just missing a tree by a bees d!ck and back on the throttle all ubove 80 k's hr !!!! What a hoot. Rode Pauls TE300 for an hour or so, a bit too much power for me on the corners, but it has set a seed for a new bike next year, "TE250". Thanks everyone for a grouse ride, and especially to Muzza who was riding like he stole his own bike !!! Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: seano on September 05, 2011, 09,11:00 AM To pauly ,luv ya work sweet cheeks ,i have very sore face from smiling and laughing all weekend. To the rest of the boys from the new south of wales it was a pleasure to meet ya,s and fantastic to ride with ya,s .To Muzza and the holbrook gang awsome, awsome, awsome ;D ;D ;D ,a very big thankyou for putn up with the AMTRA crew an absolute pleasure to ride with you guys and gals and hope yall will have us again. To mother nature ,what can I say she turned on a beut day for us ,thanks baby.To all my victorian counterparts well get stuffed ha,ha,he,he,only 364 more sleeps to go.To the trails ,luv riding you guys ,sorry about punching into you guys at warp speed there a one stage but if its any constalaion I'm suffering some soreness today. To sundays single ,how fuggin good was that, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D.thats how fuggin good

What a great weekend! I picked up Pat at 10:30, and after a quick stop at the post office, we were on our way. As Frankie said, we met up with them at Glenrowan Maccas, but we headed off to Carboor to see Robin at Safari tanks, who was doing a repair on my PE tank. After our visit, we got back onto the highway and pulled into Holbrook around 5:30. A number of the boys had already arrived and were enjoying some fizzy, adult refreshments, so we joined them! Off to the pub for dinner then back to the motel for more libations and banter before bed. The day dawned to a picture perfect morning. We tucked into a brekky of bacon and eggs, and were then met by Murray (our guide for the weekend). Introductions complete, we headed down the road to our start location and we were off! (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/61_05_09_11_5_18_57.jpg) The handsome, well dressed AMTRA VIC Crew. (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/61_05_09_11_5_19_55.jpg) The Rif-Raf! (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/61_05_09_11_5_18_33.jpg) President Paul rearing to go Others have mentioned the tracks (which were fantastic), but what surprised me was the lack of traffic they seem to have had! They were in top condition, the only ruts we encountered were from natural water ways, rather than thousands of bikes! And they were varied. Some 'high-country' tracks, some sandy/granite tracks, some speed sapping boggy tracks, you name it, we had it. The views from the lookout were stunning! (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/61_05_09_11_5_21_09.jpg) (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/61_05_09_11_5_20_45.jpg) (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/61_05_09_11_5_20_21.jpg) Lunch was dished up by Shaz, Daz, Sam and some of the Holbrook crew. Thanks guys, top job! Coops was having a ball tearing around on his BMX, and Ya Dick was happy that he was happy! It was hard to get going after lunch, but we did. More great trails, in and out of pine forests with some St thrown in for good measure. One puncture slowed us up a bit, but it gave Murray a chance to chat with the ranger who had heard we were out for the day. We got back to the cars around 4:00, having knocked up around 130 k's Back at the motel we were settling into a few bevvies and more banter. The fire was lit, the barbie on and we were set for the night. Murray had heard that it was my birthday, so he'd organized a cake and the crew did the happy-happy thing (which was nice), and the night flowed on. (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/61_05_09_11_5_21_47.jpg) Pat looking a bit knackered after the ride. Sunday morning was a bit cooler and grayer. Some guys pulled the in and went straight home to Melbourne. The rest of us went out to the enduro track, where most rode (and some just sat and shot the breeze, pigging out on Sam and Shaz's lollies!) Pat and I (and Pete and John) said our good-byes (when the guys got back after their first loop) and we convoyed to Glenrowan for lunch. Just as we were getting ready to head out (after lunch)Mat and Tim arrived. we yaked for a bit and then started the homeward stretch. As everyone has already said, it was a great weekend. Thanks to Pauly (and all those involved) for organizing it. Book your spots early for next year 'cos it's gonna be a cracker! Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: john t on September 05, 2011, 10,50:15 AM BIG thanks to Paul L for setting up the event could not of asked for anything more.
Great company and the riding was some of the best around it had a bit of everything. Muzza's three corner man thing is a good idea you get time to meet other rider's and it keeps the ride together. This should only get bigger and better which would be hard to beat. Thanks again to the Holbrook gang for taking the time to show us around great bunch of guy's and girl. ( they even stop traffic when you are down and if you run over them and they don't get upset I tried it ) Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: AL on September 05, 2011, 10,59:39 AM Hears some pic from the weekend. Also would like to thnk everyone for looking after Coop. He had a ball and loved been able to part of the trip. Cheers Ya Dick. (if you were not there then?)

Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride VIDEO PAYOLA Post by: Peter Monty on September 05, 2011, 11,33:08 AM 8)
I have just had a look through a heap of video footage of the weekend, there is lots from 2 cameras. So time for those who came to grief & havent owned up to do so. LOL Because there are quiet a few bits of adventure riding to be had. But as the videos will be lengthy to put together, time now for bribes to ensure I loose the footage! LOL As there is heaps of footage do you guys want just 2 GREATLY shortened videos to summarise the weekend, or would do you want to see more footage to cover more of the whole ride. Let me know Cheers Pete Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: Serge C on September 05, 2011, 11,41:23 AM Pete, If you have the time, it would be great to see a 'highlights' compilation for the web and perhaps, a longer video that could be burned to DVD and shown at a meeting. Don't want to make too much work for you, but just a thought. Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: Tim Dykes on September 05, 2011, 11,50:01 AM Thanks to the AMTRA people who had the vision to put this weekend on, it was a great event.
Had 129km on the tripmeter after Saturdays ride and was surprised that such a big group, 33, travelled so well. 33 X 129 = 4257km and only one puncher ;) Only one loop for me Sunday, and injured arm from a get off Saturday was giving too much grief. A fantastic loop, wish I was able to ride it more often. Big thank you to Murray and Ben (Murray's son) for showing us their part of the world. (http://www.vinamtra.com.au/forum/gallery/18_05_09_11_7_29_38.jpg) There was one bike there I was desperate to ride but the bloke who's it was wasn't keen at all on the idea! Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: boots on September 05, 2011, 12,02:46 PM Top effort Mr Paul, thanks for all your hard work, it surely paid off judging by the all round smiles. A big thanks also to the Holbrook crew for hosting the event, couldn't have asked for a better mix of tracks and terrain to blast around on, yes Seano I did have a squirt every now and then.
Oh yeah Frankie, your snoring did eventually drown out the noise of the trucks... Top blokes, bad jokes and sad porn, what else could you ask for. ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: Frankie-boy on September 05, 2011, 12,39:11 PM Hey Serge, I'm sure I was lined up in the second photo......I said I was sorry for roosting ya with a rock that landed on ya arm.

I think I will have to post that bit of the ride complete as it was a stopper for quiet a few. LOL Cheers ;) ;) ;) Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: Ken R on September 06, 2011, 08,51:28 AM Wow - 1000ks for a trail ride - was it worth it - YOU BETCHA!!!
It was more than a trail ride, it was a meet and greet and eat the meat. Nothing better than waking up to the aroma of eggs and bacon on the barby. Actually there is better - somebody doing the cooking for ya. Thanks Paul & crew. The motel had a good covered BBQ area to keep the morning dew of the chefs, and a fire pit with a good supply of timber to keep the evening dew off the punters. The motel also supplied pick yourself oranges fresh off the trees. On Sunday morn I asked the caretakers what they did with the oranges, "pick em up off the ground and bin em" was the reply. Helen now has a nice bag of oranges to make more of her superb marmalade. Havn't slept in a motel on the Hume for yonks. It was grouse to see the big rigs lumbering slowly thru Holbrook with many lights blazing as we walked down to the pub for dinner on Fri night. The BBQ on the Saturday trail was good, but the BBQ on Sat night was Bonza including the onion and tomato thingy? by Seanno. Hey Serge - are we getting old - only 1 1/2 bottles of red? The Sat ride was a smorgasbord of pine trails in the a.m. including my lay down in the gully, and the p.m. was very much like the Strathbogies complete with granite boulders and slabs to ride over. At the lookout we could see Mt Kosiosko in the distance with a white cap on. So is NSW connected to Vic via the granite? I'd say yes especially if this event becomes an annual - and why not? Thanks to you all for a GREAT weekend. Title: Re: Holbrook Combined NSW/VIC Ride Post by: Peter Monty on September 06, 2011, 10,00:43 AM First video posted in the Ride Video section
