Title: John's Daylesford Beginner/Lvl 1 Ride Day "MX Style"
Post by: SCHEVY on October 02, 2011, 02,08:19 AM
G'day all,
Good Fun, was the order for the day & once again, John T & the weather gods, have delivered the goods, to what was another fantastic beginner/Level 1 ride day  ;D
Freddo & I had our usual 3.00am start, to the sound of rain on the rooftop & rain all the way on the drive to Daylesford..but then, by some divine intervention, as we approached the town, the clouds parted, the rains cleared & we were welcomed by blue sky & sun ??? (thank you)
After a quick brekky in town with some of the punters, we headed out to John's property, to help set up the shelters.
Soon the keen as mustard beginners & not so beginners arrived & they were split into two groups; one's that wanted to get stuck straight into it & the others that wanted some tuition,to learn some basic skills.
The first session of bike set-up, riding position, tools to carry on the trails & first aid kit was explained by AMTRA's own Peter Ross..job well done, who then also gave us some demonstration on the importance of clutch & hand control & riding techniques  :D (along with other body techniques, very funny, you just had to be there  ;)). John T took the other group out into the bush, to carve up the trails for some lessons of their own. Big thanks to all the helpers there too.
By lunchtime we had all regrouped & got to practice our skills on John's new MX track which was absolutely awesome...full of ruts, berms, jumps, tabletops, drop offs, muddy bog holes and little down hills...some great fun to be had by all, to practice a different kind of trail riding skill... Top Track!
Lunch was catered for by master chefs Darren & Seano, who were also the resident child care workers... You's two did a great job playing Mr Mom as well as feed the troups.. The food was yummo, the natives were satisfied & you wore out the little crusty demons, who all flaked it by the end of the day.. Can't ask for better than that!
After lunch we split into 2 groups again & headed out on the trails.  Great fun was had by all. Freddo & I did the beginner run with Pete & Al, with the guys & gals & we got to experience some interesting little downhills with rocky creek crossings..everyone rode really well in these tiny test sections.
All up another great ride day & as always, am looking forward to your next one already.. Thanks to everyone who came to make it such a great day...
Here are some pics of the day, quite a few as usual, but that's Life...
Until the next ride...
Marls & Freddo

Great report a pics as usual Marl's and Freddo!

Big thanks to John for the use of the property and all the work bringing it together. And to everyone who came to ride, help and watch. With Daz, and Tickets cooking up a storm and watching the future hero's. Had a great day and felt a little more comfortable with passing on advice and knowledge to the beginers, this time around. The tracks were in great codition and are rated perfectly by John for their standards. I managed to rack up 123ks for the day, so i must have cut a few laps? Felt bad about loosing Nic after a communication error, but quickly found her after a flying loop. (Sorry Nic) And to Bob, im glad the pics show me running to catch you so you know i put in an effort. Till the next one, from Al

Shaz..
Thanks to everyone in the Amtra family for a great day and help, support and s$*t stirring. I had a great day on and off the bike.

I had a great day at Daylesford..Johnny has done his report..so pretty much what he said..but I would like to say my own thanks firstly to Darren and Seano...thank you so much for keeping us fed...champions...and i loved watching the little guys too...very cute and great to see kids out havin good healthy clean fun and not stuck inside infront of some computer game.
Peter-Thanks heaps for everything from the bike education (quite an education-you had to be there...every 21 seconds hey guys) to the clutch control learning and then helping to put me back to together again on the track. And i will be getting some steg pegs (wonder if they come in pink).
Al..thanks heaps again for picking me up dusting me off..again....and sorry for the tears...again, and yes the photos do show you tried to catch me ..but next time-try harder lol.
Fred...thanks mate..for caring and helping me...that bloody tree just jumped out on front of me...didnt it? :)
Girl Power was evident on the day which was really nice to see...Sharon (Shaz)..great to meet you and loved your encouragment..look forward to riding with you again.
Marls..as usual, loved riding with you and learning from you.
Nicole...im gonna have to try the 250 next time ha...nice meeting you too mate.
Jess...your a great kid...thank you for all you did to help me and thank you for nearly being my twin.
The day was so valuable to me as a beginner..I really learned alot about clutch control and going around in slow circles to maintain balance both sitting and standing..i have done a bit of practice again today..only had 1 little tumble but was really starting to get somewhere.
I have pulled up sore today but i really got something out of the day , so the pain is worth it.
These learning days are fantastic and i wll be along to the next one..All the people i have met so far through Amtra have been a great bunch and only too willing to help...so from me..a beginner, I thank you all for the support and ecouragment and the suck it up princess mentality..its great. A really big thanks to John for letting us tear around and play in the paddocks.
Was absoloutley exhauated after the 3 and a bit hour trip home but cant wait for the next beginners day.
A big thank you aswell to my fiance Johnny for coming with me to help and support me and others. I have tried to put photos with this post but it didnt work...so will look into it.So until next time folks..take care and have fun riding where ever it takes you..From me Bob (Sandra)

Well Daylesford L1 beginner Day No 3 done and  No dust

But the dirt bike gods did not let us down and the rain held off all day,
Big thanks to Darren and Seano for the BBQ they work flat out  in the big shed prepping meals and manning the kettle
Thanks to Peter Al and Matt for leading ride's as it would not be possible to run this ride with the help of all the AMTRA people
Thanks to Fred and Marls for the great pics

Good to see AMTRA Kids ( under 250s ) alive and well

Its all good Nic, i will take you around for a couple extra loops next time solo to make it up to you.
Al

Yarra Valley
Nic and i had a miss understanding weather she was having a rest for one more loop or heading out. Nic didnt make it to the gate with the rest of the group, so i left. Nic run the short loop, where her bike stalled and the flat battery wouldnt start it. When i got back with the group to see no Nic? I went and rounder her up. My fault as ride leader! Hope that clears it up.

Thanks Al - promise I won't make u dance :)

Yarra Valley - was as much my fault mate - I should have waited at the gate for the next loop, I saw the last guy go so I thought I'd be right.

Prob enough said about a simple mix up now.

Cheers

Hey Al I don't think it was anybody fault as she was not at the gate when you left.
As it is an arrow course and she has done it a number of times Nic was  comfortable to go on her own or she could of come an got one of us to go with her as the  loop  would only been 4 to 5 klms around I don’t think she was in any major danger of getting lost .

So as not to steal all the thunder from Darren ,I did only help cook and keep an eye on the little ones,it was Darren who prepared food ,put on the kettle, bring bbq (in witch fell out the back of his trailer on the way up,brand new mind you)AND set up table ready for every one to eat and so on and so forth. So 90% Thanks to Darren and only 10% to Seano  ;D ;D good on ya Dazza

Thanks again John and family for making these type of days possible.
It was a pleasure being up in that part of the country and cooking up feed with Seano on the super-fast BBQ (you cooked more than your fare share Seano)
As for my 65 mile an hour BBQ at least it went for a ride down the freeway witch is better than myself, as for my boy Kody he cannot thank you all enough and with his new ridding buddy they must of clocked up some km’s on the loop the boys made up 1 ½ tanks of go-go juice (not bad). ;D ;D
And a big thanks to everyone else that made it there for the day as it looked pretty bleak leaving home and then the gods were on Johns side once again when you got to Daylesford.
Thanks heaps Darren  :) :) :)

Thanks to everyone from AMTRA who was involved in putting this ride day together, especially John T, you own a very nice part of the world.
This was my 3rd ride with AMTRA and each ride has been a big learning curve. The wealth of knowledge shared has been greatly appreciated and I feel I get a little better each ride. Its also nice to know there is always someone there to help pick you up after you eat dirt.
I certainly hope there will be other rides like this one, I had a ball, thanks again to everyone.
Neil

Thanks John for a great day out. That grass track is coming up well and will be a good track to build some skills on.

Thanks to all that came along to enjoy the day.

You came on my Reefton ride ... I had 43 people turn up for it ...  As you can imagine -  I meet so many people out there and forget who is who in the crew.

I am easy to remember .... sometimes that is a bad thing  :o

I will be running another Reefton ride - duel level later in the year - have a friend to take the L1&2 and I will be taking the L3-Clubman out.  A great chance for riders and partners to get out in the same area and meet for lunch but each group to be happy and confident with what thay are riding.

 Cheers

Em.
