No ride report up yet ?
Oh well, here goes.
Around 14 riders turned up at the Big River campground for an early start. Most of the bikes were big 4 strokes, with the new Husabergs being well represented... (3 of 'em I think), lots of Yammy 450's, a couple ktm 2 bangers, 1 x 250 Yammy & my lonely 250x honda)
Anthony led us on some ripper trails, some of which were new to me. I had a stint at sweeping early on & nearly got lost ........I was behind the last rider ( obviously !) & we came to a small wet / boggy section. The rider in front was cautiously finding a path through when I spotted a little side track....... you know the sort of thing that skirts around the bog & then meets back onto the main track................so I darted down this  "little" side track. Well, it speared off right away from the main trail & I ended up bush bashing for ages to find the main trail again.......... Not a good look if the sweep rider gets lost !
One of the blokes took some good vids of water crossings & hill climbs........ hope they put 'em up.
Toward lunchtime I was having a bit of a crack along a prime section of smooth forest trail, I thought big Johnny on his berg 570 was right on my tail ( turns out he wasn't !) ......... didn't see the short sharp erosion hump 'till the last instant...........brake hard lose some speed, throttle on to lift the front......... phew !,  I think I saved it........WHACK.....The back end kicked up so hard  it sent me flying over the bars doing a "horizontal Wilbur".
Message to self : Tone it down a bit you old fool, you're 53 not 23 !!!
Lunch at Woods Point Pub was exellent, we even had a visit from the local Policeman, but he wasn't remotely interested in us or the bikes.
The arvo consisted of a further smorgasboard of excellent trails. Anthony was keen to include another 1.5 hours of "tougher tracks",but most had had enough for one day so we motored back along the road for the last 15klm
Well done Anthony, thanks for a great day out.
