What another ace weekend @ the yard, I picked Frankie up just after 11am on Friday and we headed to the northern suburbs to do some deliveries for work before hitting the Highway around 1.30pm picking up lunch on the way and do my banking in Myrtleford and arrived at the yard just after 5pm. It was hot and dusty, and thought if this keeps up they are going to have a ripper of a weekend. When we arrived we were straight into the socialising and went on long after I went to bed around 11pm Well as per usual the weather at Abbeyard never failed to disappoint with the rain starting around 9pm on Friday night and continued on and off at different intensity for the rest of the weekend. The party started around 5.30pm with dim sims cooking on the barby for entree followed but burgers and lamb chops and a variety of different flavour sausages and cheese and onions and bread and sauces followed by some christmas cheer with mince pies and of coarse every one kept themselves well refreshed along the way, which once again went on well after I had gone to bed. We had 4 different rides from the property over the weekend but will leave the ride reports to the guys who went riding. As it was still rainy this morning most were gone early and Frankie and I hit the road at 8.30am and arrived at Frankies front door at 12.20 and then at my place for 1pm. I think most had a great weekend , I know Ted and Frankie and myself certainly did and look forward to the next social function, the chrissy party. A big thanks to everyone who attended and made the weekend what it was. Will

Being a first timer to Abbeyard ( Wiggy's probably hoping it's my last after an afternoon "incident"! ) and knowing that i was going to arrive late on friday night, I had to rely on wiggy's directions he'd posted on the forum for finding the place after dark, and while they were excellent, there was no fail safe included for if the shed lights were "off"!! Dark is an understatement! i couldnt see the gate thats less than 20 feet from the road!! so a couple of hours in the car at camp creek untill day break was required, but i think i was able to sneak in and set up camp before most were awake, so no one was to know any different! Headed off with Ted's group in the morning up to lake cobbler, while the morning was a little misty at times, the rain wasnt an issue, the tracks were great, and only a little slick at the very begining, a very enjoyable loop of around 73k's. Disscussions over lunch and a loop taking in camp creek, buffalo ridge and schultz was decided on. Mist, rain and fog made for a very interesting afternoon. Getting wet didnt seem to bother Rob, untill he and bike went for a swim 5 minutes into the ride! After 15 minutes of trying to revive the ol' girl, it was pushed back through the river and up to the main rd for retrival. Fog along the ridge trk was an issue, would have liked a little extra pace for the terrain, but visibility was reduced greatly. Nigel's ktm required a rear tyre change after a rocky flogging across the ridge, Fisrt time track flat for Nigel but Zeb and Gary's assistance made short work of the change over in the rain, only to discover a front wheel bearing was shaged! On to shultz for the downhill run, i was given plenty of warning about the track down, and with the added rain, i assumed it was going to be a challenge....but i had no idea what i was about to encounter, Wiggy led off followed by Ted, then myself. I soon found myself picking up a bit of pace, caught Ted in no time (certainly not intentionly!) It was about here i relised things were going a little bit pear shaped! I could hear Ted thinking "Jesus christ Thats quick" as i sucked his goggles off as i flew past! I was just hanging on, trying to ride this one out but i was catching Wiggy quicker than i Caught Ted...(i was at warp 5!) Wiggy had no idea i was coming! I had it all planned in my head....stay to the right and i'll fly right by. Wiggy was standing on the pegs, and as i got beside his rear wheel, i bounced left, and whacked him fair and square in the back sending him straight over the bars. The collision took all my pace off, steadied my bike and i pulled up in no time only to turn around to see Wiggy motionless, face down in a rut full of running water, 20 feet from his bike! i wasnt feeling real flash right about now! After being given the all clear Wiggy's next concern was his bike, all ok, But god help me if he'd squashed his ciggies!! He was complaining of a sore arse, he reckoned he must have landed on his bum bag.....But i say have a look in the mirror Wiggy, is the word "bark buster" imprinted on your right butt cheek?!! SERIOUSLY THOUGH, i hope ur still doing ok. Overall i had a great ride at Abbeyard and a big thank you to all who attended to make the weekend what it was. Thanks Ted for the am ride, To Gary and Zeb, Thanks for the arvo advice and assistance. Cheers Neal.

Good story, Neal. Wiggy is a tough ol'coot! He'll bounce back. You need a memorable first trip to Abbeyard, it makes it easier from now on!

Amtra Club HCR Ride Report PM ride 18/11/2011
Even though the temp was about 32 degrees we were all keen to go riding so the four of us headed off just after lunch, crossing the Buffalo river at Camp creek, getting wet boots at the start of the ride wasn't such a bad thing after all, turned left at the top of Camp Creek track and headed back towards lake Buffalo, then on to Buggery track, crossing the Buffalo river again at Durune track, a short run back towards Abbeyard and then up Worseldine, then Buffalo divide track and back down to Abbeyard on Cobbler track, arriving back at camp a bit hot and dusty but still a good 80km ride.

Amtra Club HCR Ride Report Clubman AM ride 19/11/2011
Well with a bit of rain through the night only 4 people put there hands up for the ride, decided it wasn't worth Will and Frankie doing a fuel drop so we carried enough fuel for 140km , crossed the Buffalo river on Camp creek tk then Scotchman's creek tk and then up Paddys hill, riding through light rain and some low cloud made things a little slick but still more than enough traction on the rocky hills, had a quick stop at the top of Paddys Hill then took Pheasant creek tk, Chris got a puncture and split his rear tyre open on a sharp rock 20min later all was fixed but with a gash in the tyre it was decided to head back the shortest way, Mt Selwyn rd , Twin creeks tk, Shults tk then Buffalo River tk back to camp, 95km later, thanks Dave for the local track knowledge. Cheers, Gary.
