Marysville Ride
04/03/07
Report by Rod Wainwright

I had not been for a ride at Marysville for yonks so I thought I would give it a go despite not being used to riding with 28 riders or so. The weather was looking good and as it seemed not much dust.
Apparently, Phil knows these tracks like the back of his hand and believe me he does. Went passed a couple of fires caused by a lightning storm a night or two ago one of them was still going strong so close to the track you could feel the heat as you went by. The other fire had just been extinguished by the CFA and a DSE dozer, man they do some damage to the tracks. Traveled down to a intersection myself on the corner Mark ,who was tail man rolling towards me with his motor not ticking over trouble with his carby I think so back to the cars he went. Down this tight track plenty of traction and in the end quite quick what a blast. Off to Marysville for lunch a nice healthy salad roll, Gatorade and an apple pie, good stuff. Left the cake shop heading back past the cars via tracks much more dust now time to back of from the rider in front. Got to the turn off of car park where there was a corner man sitting there, People followed his bike direction down to the cars but no Phil, apparently he decided to end his ride there and was waiting for someone else, any way things have a way of sorting them selves out and we were soon following the leader once more.
The dust now was thick I thought I might get away without cleaning my filter for a change this was not to be “Bummer”. Back to the cars around 4.30 happy with the days ride.
One thing that did concern me a little was the lack of protective gear some of the guys were not wearing. For example: Half face helmets, runners, jeans and no gloves. I cannot understand why when they are riding four to six thousand dollar bikes and cannot afford competitive priced gear to protect themselves from injury.

Think about it.

Anyway thanks Phil for the day.
