    Glenaladale 23,24 & 25 March  2012-03-26

Friday 23 March:

Zeb and I arrived at Glenaladale at 9.30 am Friday morning, started the fire as it was a bit cool up there but perfect weather for riding, bikes and gear unloaded we then drove 35km up  Dargo road to drop off the fuel for the Saturday ride ,

After lunch Fred, Marles, Nigel, & Chris had arrived so we all headed out for a ride, checking out the creek crossings for both rides, back to camp at 5:30pm and ridden 85km.

The day finished with dinner, beer and a few laughs sitting around the fire.

Saturday 24 March:

Easy Clubman

The day started off smoothly, taking my usual tracks out to Dargo road then following the power lines for a few km, then in to the Mitchell River National Park, it had rained all of Friday night so the first creek crossing was a bit higher than the day before, so with another 20 + to go we were in for a fun day. We then took some of the ridgeline tracks to Peels Gap, Crossed back over Dargo road and re fuelled, 60km down and 100 to go, at the bottom of Black Range trk Mike’s front brake had locked on due to heat, quickly fixed and we were on our way.
Stopped for a late lunch at the start of Lees Creek trk, about half way along Left Hand Branch trk, with the creek crossings getting deeper Mike’s bike needed de watering then about 5km further on it was my turn, after a quick run up Freestone Creek trk we headed up one of Zeb’s favourite track called Bullant Ridge trk, then back to camp at about 3:30pm, total distance 167km.

Thanks Zeb and Matt for tail man duties,

Riders:
Gary, Mike, David, Zeb, Geoff, Chris & Matt.

Level 2+
Thanks Fred for leading this ride, Paul for a bit of local track help and Ted for tail man.

Will leave the rest for Fred.

Riders:
Fred, Nigel, Peter, Ted, Colin, Paul

Late afternoon ride

Paul took a few of us out to do a bit of single track “ on private property” we had gone through creeks, over logs, up and down hills, Colin drowned his bike in the creek so we de watered it but couldn’t get it started, it was pushed and dragged 500m up the creak to the end of the track, then tow started in the grass clearing, going up a rocky hill Nigel broke the sub frame mount off the KTM, with everyone looking a bit worn out we returned to camp, it took 2 hrs to do 9km !

Riders:
Paul, Colin Peter, Nigel & Gary

Dinner was home made wood fired pizza and apple crumble for desert made by Ron and Anne, ended the night sitting around the fire with a few more drinks and laughs about the days events.

Sunday 25 March

Most people left in the morning so there were only five for the AM ride, so we headed back out towards Freestone creek, finished at lunch time with another 80km

Riders:
Gary, Paul, Chris, Geoff & Matt

If all goes well I will run this ride again next year,

Cheers,
Gary.

G’day all,
Thank’s Gary for putting on your ride weekend at Glenaladale; such a great part of the world to ride in, in the foothills of Dargo.
Frog & I arrived Friday lunch time, geared up, keen as mustard to hit the trails as well as try out my new steed on some hills. Soon the lads who had already been out on a quick blast returned & we headed out to explore the great mix of tracks & creek crossings. The recent rain, magically disappeared, which made for superb, dust free, flowing, grippy riding. All went well all arvo, until a minor altercation with a creek bed & some football rocks, that my head decided it wanted to use as a pillow…mmm… ouch to the knee as well but I’ll survive…gotta love that body armour! It was at the end of the day anyway, so we cruised back to base camp & got stuck into some good tucker & a few quiet, finer ales of life, waiting for the later travellers to arrive.
Saturday morning was one of those days, where you just weren’t sure how the weather was going to pan out. Grey skies, a bit of rain, blue sky & sun all mixed in one. With Gary's group already out there at the crack of dawn, I decided to sit out Freddo’s level 2 loop which he & all the boys all had fun on…nothing too testing & no carnage to report.  From what I hear, Master Ted decided to check out my creek rock garden too! ..exact same spot!  I know Ted, you did it out of sympathy…really  Wink .
Once the guys returned, they were soon off again for more exploring & Freddo & I went & did a bit of exploring of our own in the pine forests on the property…some great stuff in there!!
As the light grew dim in them hills, we were spoilt with the wood-fired pizza’s & a few more chardy’s & amber fluids…ahhh…a perfect day.
Thanks to everyone who came to this weekend & made it so special…great, bunch of blokes & gal & we’re both really  looking forward to riding there again, minus the face plants  Roll Eyes
Here are some pics of the day’s & a link to the album for some more....
