Again it was an early start for all 7 of us. We met just after 7am on the moe Erica rd with perfect weather ahead we were on the bikes around 7.45am even though the intention was a L1 L2 ride it soon changed about 1.5hrs in when I took a wrong turn and before we new it 7 of us were sliding down this marble lined 60 degree hill thinking I hope this gets better but to find a dead end. Well an hour or so later we had all 7 bikes and 7 bodies back up the 100 metre steep section climb. Rest and recovery time with the promise to make the rest a bit easier we were of in a north west direction to do a couple of unnamed tracks and then up to Mervs and then back to Tanjil. Time was getting on so I took a chunk of the Northerly of Tanjil out and started heading sth east again and did some further exploration taking in a trail that follows blue rock dam with a wonderfull view at the end of teh trail and eventaully we got back to the cars about 12.30ish with just on 100klms covered and was now starting to get very warm we packed and headed for teh Erica Hotel for some much need social time and cool drinks and lunch. It was great to be met at the pub by Johnny and Bob for a much needed catch up.

Thanks for a another well organised ride Will - it was a great bunch of blokes to cruise around with.

Thanks also to Steve for doing tailman duties - hope the new toy is run in now.

I think we timed getting back to the cars perfectly, as the heat certainly settled in after that.

Husky TE 310  a 2012 model.

OK, so I traded in one of my Husky 150's... Why ? Well, I wanted something a bit less frantic, with a good fuel range, that could handle the transport sections more easily, yet still nice & light. The 150 is the sort of bike that you just cannot potter along & look at the scenery !! It is a hoon machine ! it just puts you in race mode & demands that you have a crack, wether you like it or not !!! . At the end of a ride on the 150, your body feels fine but your brain is fried !!!

So far the 310..........

The suspension is outstandingly good.It soaks up the bumps & steers exactly where you want it to go.

The motor has more mumbo than I was expecting.... I briefly rode a 2011 310 without the 12 hole injector & upgraded ecu (that comes with the 2012). At the time, I thought my modified crf250x would run rings around it...... not so with the 2012 310, the mid range is just a delight, dramatically more grunt than the crf 250x.  I can see myself becoming addicted to it very quickly.

It was just starting to loosen up & rev more freely toward the end of the ride.

I did notice the effect of a bit more weight , especially when braking compared to the 150 two stroke............but anything will feel heavier than one of those !

Access to the airfilter & oil drain plug is a bit spastic, but I suppose if you are not in a race situation, a bit of fiddling around is not the end of the world.

With the current pricing,$10,500 on the road + $500 rebate from Husqvarna +  a pit tent (yes a good one) + goggles + some other useless crap ,It is very good value.
