Title: Re: Places to RIDE and STAY in VICTORIA ???????? PLEASE HELP Post by: DanJ on July 19, 2011, 02,16:12 PM Starglen is the only place I know of where you can stay and ride on the same property, but if you're prepared to put up a tent for the night then there's heaps of places.
Whilst I've not been I hear Lorne, Wye River etc are good when the tracks are open, if your bikes have full reg then you can stay in town and ride to the tracks as they're close. Goughs Bay is a top ride when it's drier and again if you have full reg, you can ride from Goughs Bay to the tracks which is only 10 minutes. But for me, a tent and a fire with riding buddies is the way to go and means you can camp right in the middle of some great riding areas. People do camp out at Neerim Sth which is good riding but crappy camping, most of the camp spots have been trashed. Have you bought the Weekend Warrior 1 and 2 books? Heaps of riding ideas in there. Enjoy ya riding, DanJ Title: Re: Places to RIDE and STAY in VICTORIA ???????? PLEASE HELP Post by: CHOCK on July 20, 2011, 10,57:22 AM Thanks heaps Dan,

Title: Re: Places to RIDE and STAY in VICTORIA ???????? PLEASE HELP Post by: DanJ on July 21, 2011, 01,26:42 PM The books are available at most bike shops, some camping stores and Information Victoria which is where I bought them. AMX Outlets stocks them as well as Shaun who's in the book is now the manager of their Lynbrook store.
http://weekendwarriors.com.au/books.php http://www.bookshop.vic.gov.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=weekend+warrior Book 1 is for mainly local rides, book 2 is by far the best and covers rides 2 hours plus from the CBD and the maps are far better. Just photocopy them and chuck them in ya pocket when riding, I've used them heaps and their suggested loops are good. They provide a grading for each ride so you know if it's Beginners or Extreme before you get there. And get ya mates to pull their skirts out, camping with a roaring fire is the best way to end a days riding... Have fun. |
