Arrived at the start point at 7.:45AM with Ted already there, pretty soon all the others had turned up, couldn't have asked for better weather for riding, quick ride briefing letting every one know I was now leading the ride as Weak Knee Willy had torn his AC. We all headed down Wild cow track making our way towards Blue Rock Lake, then right at Merv Track, found a couple of good hills and with the usual AMTRA spirit we were all at the top. The plan was to head north and have lunch at one of Al's river crossings near Tangil, at the last re group 3 riders had arrived , 30 min passed without any more coming through so I decided to slowly back track picking up the corner men on the way, 45min now and still no riders then I came around a slight RH bend in Burns Track and met Frankie !, woke up lying on the track looking across at Frankie still unconscious on the ground, with my marbles well and truly rattled all the other riders quickly stepped in calling 000 giving our exact gps co ordinates, Frankie was out for about 5 x min came two but still not looking good, after about 20min he started to smile at a few of our bad jokes, he is a tough old coot, I asked him his pain level from 1 to 10 he replied 3, 1.25 hrs later the helicopter, ambulance and police arrived , Frankie had a short ride in the ambulance to Blue rock Rd was then flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital, Trevor and Nick rode out and came back with a 4 x 4 and trailer to take me and both our bikes out, not exactly what I had planned when we headed out in the morning .
Late Saturday night it was confirmed Frankie Boy had a separated pelvis, he had an operation on Monday to fix the break with a plate and some screws, the next day he had already taken a few steps so hopefully he will have a speedy recovery and be back on the trails soon.
I ended up with a cut on the back of my hand, a few bruises, sore ribs and shoulder.
I would like to thank all the riders for there help and assistance given to both Frankie and me.
Frankie had a can of baked beans in his back pack, think he could have found an easier way to open them !
Gary.

The question has to be asked: "why?"

So, was Frankie's separated pelvis a result of the crash, or,from eating too many baked beans ?
