Haven't been for a ride at Mt Dissapointment for a while, so it was good to get back and see how the recently Burnt out forest was doing. Last time John & i went for a ride there you could ride where ever you wanted, there was nothing but sticks for trees and nothing on the ground except ash.

We all met at the Shack at 8.30 " Bar one" and took off around 9 ish, we rode around the south side of the forest looking for tracks that i use to haunt years ago, but DSE had managed to Dozer them into the next century, i decided that it was pointless hahging around this area just riding the main tracks "BORING".

It was raining on & off and i knew there was heaps of good tracks to the North, so off we rode to explore the north side of the forest, we popped out on a main road that was unrecognisable to me and my internal Compass go a bit outta sync and yes "I was lost (sort of)" john thought he knew where he was but he didn't really have a clue. With that, Darrell Clark showed up on his WR, you gotta be joking i thought, "How the hell did find us" anyway with Darrell now with us it was off to Strath Creek for lunch & refuel.

After waiting for the rain to stop we hot tailed it outta there and back into the Forest for some more Trail finding. We cruised around looking for some tracks and ended up on the North West side where the hills are Pretty step, Dave had a few goes at the Widow maker and after a few attempts tamed the beast, all us over 40's old blokes sat at the top on the hill and gave Dave some encouragement like " come on it's a Berg, it,ll go anywhere, it'll be dark soon & I've done it before so you can do it!!.

Once Dave had had his fun it was time to start heading back to the cars, but i decided to take a Narrow trail short cut "WRONG" the track is Fabulous until you near the bottom of the Hill, and have to descend into the Bog hole rutted hell of Death, and then through the creek and into another Bike eating hell hole, i was first to concur the bog hole but only by starting off in 4th with full throttle and slaming the clutch lever open, i was thrown into the sh!t and out the other side with a Mud Roost 3 stories high " there's Nothing like the 570 grunt". Dave took the RHS and got stuck in some pretty thick mud but as AMTRA members, we all pitched in and got the rest of the bikes out and onto dry land.
Off we go again with the sun going down, i thought I'd throw in one more Narrow trail "WRONG AGAIN" started off unbelievably good, but i turned right at a Y intersection and started going the wrong way, the track was so good i just kept going, and Yes, down again into another Creek and up the other side with 5 ruts wide and just deep enough to case out i knew this was gunna a be a Massive struggle to get up this Bog hole hill. I got off and walked around the corner to see even more land destruction and a bigger climb, so back up the other side, difficult but there was no other option. John made it over the Narly Rut with tree root and up the hill, good thing he walked back down to help me and the others, "cos i was going nowhere". We helped all the riders at the narly bit and regrouped at the top of the hill, with that we'd had enough and made a B line for the cars with main roads only, taking us back with ease.
It was a good days ride and we all worked well together and hang sh!t on each other for most of the day, thanks to Dave & Meathead for helping outta some boggy moments.

I will be putting on another ride soon, and i won't be going anywhere near the rutted bog holes from hell.
So it will be a Level 2 ride.
It took me hours to clean the bike and gear, and every muscle in this 40+ body is aching. " I must be getting to old for this Sh!t"

Never been there before but i think ill be back for the next one.

Id like to give that hill ago again with the right gearing.

Thanks Dave you can front up at the next ride to get me outta the Sh!t again!!
I forgot to mention you are running a 14 front, and that hill would of been easier with a 13.

Great ride with a good bunch of blokes. The look on your face when I suggested an alternate short cut back to the cars as  the sun dissapearing was priceless.

Took me a while to coax the mud off the Kato too but it was all good underneath except it's time for a new chain.

Good ride Pee Air, 136ks and you did say exploration and that's what we got with a few U turns - no probs. It's great to see the bush looking so green, a lot better than black.

It was good to catch up with Mark Salter after a few years.

Its has been a while since I have been to Dissa as Peter said the last time we where there it was all black,
Mother nature has sure done a bit of work.
you would be lucky to see 1 mtr off the track the undergrowth is so thick.
The day went well, recognised a lot the tracks we were on but they have all changed a bit no longer do you know where
you are all the time as all the land marks have gone or been over grown.
The rain held off for most of the day, no dust gotta love that as it won’t be long till its back so live it up now.
All in all good day out no major offs good pace, laughs what more do you need on a ride not even a flat.
