Title: Eildon - Woodspoint Wed 2/1/13
Post by: Peter r on January 03, 2013, 03,06:50 AM
Darren ,Steve and I took off from my Joint around 3.30pm on Tuesday for the trip up to the Eildon Taj Mahal, we arrived to a fantastic late arvo with the sun shining and soon established our selves in the Deck chairs with a few ale's, then of to the Pub for Dinner and back to the Deck chairs till 11.30pm.

Wednesday morning we all met at the Eildon Pondage, and i decided to drive out to the 15 Mile Rd Starting area, this takes out some average tracks and makes the ride home a bit easier.

We mounted the bike around 9.30 and Quickly headed for the Narrow trail and them Headed south towards Stockmans Rewards, the temp was quite nice and the tracks toward Stockmans are grouse.

On the way down i passed the Track that Nathan broke his leg on back in 2007, so as you do we thought we'd have a bit of a Memory moment and relive the Track, i got to the end and waited for the Boys to arrive. Nathan was the next to arrive " THANK GOD" and had no problem with the track this time. Not long after that Darren had some front tyre issues and Nathan found a good Narrow trail out of the blue, so yes we all had to investigate this hidden track which came out about 1.5 klms later.

We got down to Stockmans Rewards and with the Bushfires in 2009 the way into Woodspoint the scenery was a bit different , so i had to consult the Map for conformation on where we were heading.

we arrived at Woodspoint around 1.30pm and we all ordered Toasted Ham N Cheese sangers, Chips n Garlic Bread. We fed our bellies and refuelled ($2.75 Ltr)then fixed darrens front flat and rode up old Coach Rd and onto German Spur up Moonlight and back into Stockmans Area.

I thought i might take the same way back, but thought i would try a new track " Old Reefton Logging Rd" and onto Dray Track, "what a blast". From Dray it was onto an over grown track that i haven't done for about 4 Years, the first 1 klm was covered with 3 ft high Blackberrie bushes, as i was riding through the vines they managed to get wrapped around the bike and throw me off  ;D ;D. This track comes onto another track which is know as Leaf Litter track, it's about 6 " deep in Leaves in some spots and a real hoot at around 40 deg climb.

Back onto Dray track and down the gully on Bull Range Rd and then into 15 Mile for the speedway sliding corners and flat chat straights back to the Cars.

We got back to the cars at 7.30pm.

Thanks for tailman duties Boys

Had a ball and thanks to all making this ride another 10/10 ride.

0 injuries, but many sore Muscles and aching arms !!!

210 Klms for the day and only one puncture.

Grouse ride. Good company, great tracks and perfect weather.
Thanks Pete for putting the ride together and also to Darren and Wade for tailman duties.
On Leaf Litter Track,  if you are behind or passed by another bike the roost off the back wheel is different to see...it doesn't come at you like rocks but flies high and quickly drops.
Pete - I'll check my camera....it might show the blackberry that grabbed you.
And Serge...I saw you sneaking around the Woods Point pub looking another glass of Tear Ars.. Port.

Once again Pete you provided a top day out on the bikes!!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane on Femur track!! must admit i was concentrating a bit harder than usual riding that track and over and over in my head i was saying " Don't crash, Don't crash, Don't crash " i passed the spot where i crashed and lay in the dirt for three hours waiting for the helicopter, breathed  sigh of relief and turned the throttle a bit more and got to the end without incident!! ;D ;D
Luckily darren had a front flat or we wouldn't have found the hidden technical trail, make sure you mark it on the map so we can ride it next time.
How good is German Spur that would have to be one of my favourite tracks, it just flows so well for so long with erosion mound after erosion mound and with the mother of all down hills at the end..it is heaven.
Old Reefton Logging Rd was a good blast and blackberry track was a hoot finishing with a blast up leaf litter track, so much fun blasting up a steep hill covered in 100mm of leaves.
the dustiest track of the day was behind you on 15 mile road, you must have been having a ball, all i got was a huge cloud of dust and when it did clear there was power slides and fish tails out of every corner.
Thanks for a great ride, can't wait for the next one!!
