As the Weather Forecast was for Heavy Rain up to 100mm in some places i decided to go to Jamieson rather than Woody as it's only 70 klms, so we could get back to Eildon Easier.
I drove up to Eildon to the Taj Mahal Friday night and was expecting heaps of rain over night and a Wet Ride to Jamieson.
I woke around 7.30 to an overcast and Humid morning, with a slight shower over night which settled the dust for a Quicker Ride. I drove into Eildon around 8.00 and sat in the Car and waited for someone to Arrive 45 minutes later, Gerard B rode up on this Husky ready to go, he was up at Eildon for the long Weekend with his Family and was eager for a Ride. After putting on rides for Many years in the Club, it's the only time i have had one punter turn up for a ride. Times are changing in the Club with Most riders opting for the lay back social and Bench Racing Rides, my rides are a  bit different as you never know what i'll throw at you and what time you'll get back to the cars, this puts people out of they're comfort zone and most steer clear. But it turned out to be quite a ride with only the Tailman to worry about. The Weather was Perfect, Overcast and a light shower for a Minute or so around 10 oclock.
We headed to Mt Terrible where the clouds had taken over the mountain and you couldn't see 2 feet in front of you, it was FREEZING in the clouds and we thought it was going to p!ss down rain, so i Keep around the Eildon Area so we could make a dash back to the cars if it Hammered down.

We rode down Newmans Track and back onto Eildon-Jamo Rd, where the Sun was poking it's head Through the Clouds, "Still no heavy Rain" we had a break and took off up Dray Tr and down into Second Creek and back up Bull range Rd and on 15 mile connecting to Eildon - Jamo Rd. Gerard and i had been on the Gas for most of the ride and i Knew that it was going to get a bit tight on the Fuel situation. I ran out of Fuel just at the corner of Mallets Tr and Eildon - Jamo Rd "Lucky", i usually get around 130 Odd but not Today 115 and the 570 was dry as a Dead Dingos Donger. Gerard had enough Fuel to get back to the Eildon and Left his Husky at the Pub, and then drove back in my Van to pick me up.
After that we rolled into the Pub for lunch and headed back to the Caravan Park to Shower and have a Beer. Meanwhile Serge "Club President" was on his way up to Eildon for a Pub Dinner and back to my joint for some more Cans and a chat and stay the Night. Serge and i Woke around 7.30 had Bacon & Eggs, packed up and Headed home. around 11.

NOTE: Never listen to the Weather Forcast, it was P!ssing Rain in Melbourne, but Perfect riding Conditions in Eildon!

To all the Rides that decided to Put Their Wives Blouses on and whimp out. "Sucked In"

The support for me putting on rides has just about run it's Course, the time has definantly come for me to pursue other riding Associations.

Toughen up Princess, I, like the others on the Tallarook ride, had a great time you put on a very organized day. I'm up for a rain check on the invite to the Taj for a weekend ride but my work commitments this weekend had to be addressed. Some have to work on public holiday long weekends !!! As Pete with the bling Kwaka would say LOL, OMG, WTF !!!
Keep up the great work !!!
PS. I viewed the photo of the back of your leg you posted after your slow-mo off!! I think you need to make a Police report, someone has stolen your calf muscle !!!

Regards,
Stuart. Grin

Diddo Pete. I can't wait to do one of your rides but while I consider myself a level 2 my fitness disagrees and your reports make your rides sound pretty full on.  Shocked
p.s I WILL be at your December 27th ride.  Smiley

Hey Pete, your rides are not a bit different! YOU ARE!! People should attend your rides as i would say there is quite a few of us who ride Level 2 and Real Clubman levels now got our skills and encourgements from doing your rides. The one very common trate from level 1,2 and Clubman is the sledging and humor is always backed up with assistance and encourgement. So for any newby's should not be scared off a ride, instead talk to the ride leader and see what it is truly about? And listen to the answers either way "yes" or "no" that way you pick up skills and still have a good day on the bike. Only my thoughts Al

I hope you are around next year Pete cus I love your rides. If an old fart like me can do em there must be heaps of young uns in the club who could cope as well. Main thing for newbies is to remember to pace your self so you last the day. The corner man system ensures you will be able to ride at your own pace and not get left out in the bush to die. You don't 'have' to try and keep up with any body, just go your own pace, unless of course it's bitumen, but thats another story.

Speaking for myslef only I suppose if i really boil it down its my perception of myself thats the barrier and its driven by the fact that we all know how preciouse ride time is to all of us including clubman and level 2+ riders , some only get out once a month so when they do get out in the bush on their beloved dirt bikes i PRESUME they get pissed off waiting around for 20 min while I try and climb a hill 4 times. At the end of the day I dont wanna spoil their recreational down time either they have just as much right to it as I do.

Its and interesting topic and I am sure my setimnent is shared by most new commers maybe the answer is as simple as calling the ride leader as suggested and talking instead of making my own mind up based on myth banter and legend, Pete youll be hearing from me soon so get the first aid kit ready OK  Grin

May be able to push some of my other newby mates to break out of their shell as well casue it sounds like we are missing on some great times and terrain ?

Hey Begrgaboy please don't cross to the dark side, we will miss your bulldust 2 much, hang in there, find out what sort of rides they want to do and put them on. When you put on what you want 2 ride you have to be prepaired for people not to want to come along, but if you put on what they want then they will come. just my thoughts Will

Something i left out. I put on a fairly hard clubman ride (i think?) yet my pace is nowhere near that of the ride group! Your pace is not what makes you a Clubman rider, but what you can and cant ride up, down or over. These skills are were you improve, the speed comes as a by product of it. And i rather see someone give a hill 4 shots and fail, than look at it and say NO straight off. AL
