Peter great ride thanks for somehow managing the fantastic weather. Good tracks and terrain forgot how it is more like the HCR tracks with the hills and rocks.
Big turnout for the ride think it was 29 which came with more variables, puncture, beast lifting, bearing disintegration and electrical failure.
Ride started 9am to around 5pm with my ODO showing 148.5K's.
And how good was the Steak sandwich at the Jame pub mmm!

A big thanks to Peter R for taking the time to show us one of his riding areas, when I first joined the club & read some of Peters ride reports,it didn't inspire me to go on any of his rides, now that I've got to know him & been out on one of his rides, I know that his bark is worse then his bite Grin

As brad said, left the car park at 9am the trails was a bit dusty & Quite rocky in places, one of the rocky hills we went up had a lot of loose rocks on it, I hit the hill a bit to hard & got a bit out of shape, while I was trying to keep the bike under control I some how put my foot on the brake a came to an abrupt Holt, a few riders came past me while I'm trying to restart my bike with the kicker, yeah the button didn't work that time, anyway King Budda came past me full of concentration & didn't notice that it was me stuck on that hill, he told me later that he knew that I was ahead of him & was trying to catch me he didn't see me anywhere & thought to himself, gee Frankie must have pulled his finger out Grin
I had 3 offs for the day, the last one was a bit of a gumby one, as I was coming to a Holt in front off everyone, almost came to a stop & still had a bit to much front brake on while turning, the front locked up & went down, lucky for me I was able to throw my leg over the bars & landing on my feet Grin Grin that's not really a crash is it!! need less to say, I got a very loud cheer Grin

At morning briefing Peter said if you see some tracks of to the right or left & it's not maned just stay on the track that you are on, go straight on,after lunch it took me a little time to get back into the swing, I was getting back into it when I could see 3 rider up a head, but after going around a few bends I came to a small fork it wasn't maned so I took the track that I thought was straight on, but as I got further along that track I couldn't see any dust so I thought that maybe I took the wrong track & stopped, 4 or 5 riders went past so I thought that maybe the 2 tracks join up at the top of the hill, this were the fun starts for the ones that went past me, the hill got steeper & rocker, each one of them came to a stop, the first one couldn't go any further & dropped his bike, the other 3 also came to a stop & sat there for a moment & one by one rolled back about a bike length & fell off, one of to the right& the other to the left Grin yeah it looked funny not sure who the riders were, Matt R was doing the sweep, when he got there the hill was covered with bikes & bodies Grin
Who ever you were you did a great job to get up as far as you did, I reckon it was a level 4 hill.

Once again thanks Peter R for a great ride, Mark Vandenburg for doing the sweep to lunch time & Mat R doing the sweep after lunch, with out you blokes we wouldn't have a ride to go on.

Thanks to everyone that came along to make it a great day out on the bikes.

PS just a thought, maybe for you that are not mechanical minded ask the ride leader to give your bike a once over & see if your bike is in order to do the ride, don't get me wrong I'm not having a go at anybody, I know that some things can be over looked.

Hi all,
Well Pete, once again you have put on a fantastic ride from Eildon. Weather perfect, company perfect & grits at the pub in Jamieson real nice  Grin . Such a great area to ride in & worth every bit of the 3.00am early wake up call.
This was my first challenge ride on Fred's Gassa 450 & happy to say, I made it through those hills without too much carnage, but some entertainment for the tail's people. Thanks Mark for giving me a hand those few times. It was great to meet Fiona & her friend Peter; it's good to have some female company Cool. Fred helped out on the day by rescuing Bob on his bike & then had to be rescued himself when his car motor blew up on the way home...we just made it through the gate...so very much feel for you Seano  Cry
Here are some pics from the day & look forward to the next ride....
Cheers, Marls
P.s. Thanks to Steve & Bob for following us as we limped home, much appreciated.

Thanks for a great ride Pete! Started out at 9am and with 29 people in tow and Pete lead us out into the hills. For those that haven't been on one of Pete's ride for fear of being killed fear not!! if he has a level 1/2 ride on then anyone will be able to tackle, enjoy and come out alive at the other end with a big smile on their face. Smiley I look forward to heading up to that beautiful part of the country on a slightly more challenging ride as it offers a hell of a lot. Sunny day with a light breeze, a bit of fog and rain rolled in on top of Mt Terrible but ride down the bottom and sun shining again! Nice lunch at Jamo pub and a cruisy ride back to Eildon. RMX ran well and with about 5k's to go I thought I'd flick the high beam switch on(as you do...) Roll Eyes and the RMX just dies and wont restart?Huh A couple of the guys tow the beast back(thanks guys) and make it safe and sound. I washed the bike today and thought I'd give it a kick in the guts and low and behold away she goes!!  Shocked WTF?HuhHuhHuh anyway she's going now and the high beam switch has been disconnected!! No injuries and a couple of bike issues but all in all a magic day in the bush with some wonderful people.  Smiley

A happy crew.

View before the cloud rolled across.

Doesn't just lead the ride!

Pete letting us know that the ride leader gets to order first at the pub  Grin

I have to agree, a great day had by all !!
Pete puts on a great ride with flowing tracks & looks after his riders. He is a larikan who has a serious side when it comes to making sure that everyone makes it back to the cars in 1 piece. On a personal note, I would like to thank Brad & Matt (& 2 other guys) for helping me out when the rear wheel bearing poo itself (not happy Jan considering that it was the 1st ride since a $600 service !! ). Mat dunk me 8k's or so back to the main road, where Russell lent his 990 to Pete (silly boy, what was he thinking)& with me on the back to get back to the cars. We all loved the V8 sound of the 990, but Pete had to put it to the test. He loved it, he had a smile on his face, as he kept pushing back on me his smile got bigger?Huh?  anyway thanks for a great day guys !

Thanks again Pete for another top Eildon ride, was my mate's first AMTRA ride which he thoroughly enjoyed and a large turn out again shows the strength of the club.

Such a real mix of conditions, light rain then sunny and dusty then freezing up top of Mt Terrible then warm and sunny again in Jamieson, but all adds to the adventure.  Only 3 break downs was good of which only 2 caused a slight delay,  I hope you eventually salvaged ya bike Marc?

Now I'm glad we were able to put on a good show for you Frankie, that hill was a real mongrel with boulders littering the trail, making it worse was finding out that we'd taken the wrong fork in the road and had to turn around anyway.  So I was the rider on the left of the hill that stalled behind someone else, accidently put the bike in neutral, started to roll backwards, lost my footing, came off the bike and rolled head first backwards down the hill..  Was funny that's for sure..  I could only imagine what was going through Mat's mind as he saw us all up there.  Not 10 minutes later, I had a good stack over the front of the bars on a steep and rocky part of the Newmans track (again right in front of Mat) that left me rather sore for the rest of the night.

And to tell it was such a good ride, I've never come home with so many repairs to make on the bike, leaky fork seals, broken mirror during the fall and cut speedo cable to name a few, but all for a good cause..

But that's ok, I witnessed Frankie's first drop of the new KTM as he came through a mud patch which gave me a good chuckle :-)

So thanks again Pete and crew for making it a memorable day.  DanJ

Thanks everyone for turning up, and for helping the needy.

Loved that 990 V8 especially when you crank it on, 80,90,100,110 ....... unbelievable.
