With Christmas Day done and dusted it was out for my Annual Post Christmas Ride, with the Weather predicted to be around 31 Deg and no rain, it was looking to be a dry Dusty ride.

22 Rides turned up with a few new faces in the crowd, with most from last years Christmas ride.

It all started at 9.00 am and the Temperature was a mild 22 Deg, we headed off into the Wild Blue Yonda and up into the higher areas where it was nice n cool and with some good flowing tracks we seemed to be making good progress.

I decided to throw in some Narrow trail which goes over Bens 2 ft wide Bridge and into a nice little creek crossing, not long after that Fred called me on the radio to inform me that Marls had decided to take a quick uncontrolled turn into the Bush, and came a cropper. She was a bit shaken but in good spirits, so we all regrouped and checked out Marls's bike which had sort of ripped the Bar clamp from the top Triple clamps. Lucky KTM,s have 2 Bar mount positions, so we relocated the Bars to the other holes and made our way to Kevington Pub.

I had spoken to the Publican a week ago to informs him that we would be coming around 12.30 and all the Meals seem to come out quickly, It's not a bad place for a break sitting under the Trees with a Beer and a Feed.

Once we all had filled our Bellies it was back off into the Bush and up to the Lookout at Mt Terrible where some lovely person had to decided to set the Hut on Fire, now all that  is standing is the Chimney mmmmmm There is always some dickkheads who go around destroying everything.

The ride was going good, so i thought i would lengthen the ride a bit and headed south down Dray Track and into the 15 Mile area. It can get a bit rocky in areas and i was having a ball till i back wheeled it up a sharp rocky up hill and pinched the tube, so i rode with a flat of a bit till it warmed up and then found a chain sawed log to prop the bike on , so i could fix it. Damian had a spare tube , so i stuffed that in and off we went.

The temp was warm but it wasn't 30 deg and with some flowing track, you kept cool.
One of the Last Tracks before the Cars can be a bit tricky and most of the riders made it out "GOOD EFFORT" and a few had trouble so i rounded them up and took them around the main road and back to the Cars.

We rolled up at the Cars around 7.00pm and enjoyed a nice cold beer MMMMMM .

Thanks to Fred n Marls for doing Dusty Tail Persons Duty.

Thanks to everyone one for attending, and please feel free to post your memories.

Another great ride Peter, well organised and excellent terrain -love those hills. Enjoyed meeting some new faces and having a good feed at the Kevington pub.

Thanks for a top day Pete, i had a ball riding the dusty trails! It was a good mix of tracks with hills, rocks, ruts, open flowing trails and some tight stuff as well.
The last tight track of the day was an absolute ripper, although i think Marls might disagree with me on that one, but she did really well to get as far as she did after her off and a few pain killers!
Back at the cars at 7pm, home by 9.20pm after stopping off for a burger in Thonton, thanks again for a great day!

Yeah, what a blast of a day. Everything included in a days riding. Just as you thought it would be a cruisie last half hour back to the cars, boom, that 15 mile track (what ever it was called) finished off a great ride. Well done Pete, and keep up the good work. 177 ks on my clock...
Cheers.

"Survivor"...  Tongue
Huge thanks Pete for putting on once again, your 'Excellent' BIG Day Out post Xmas ride.
We had an absolute blast & with only one major off for the day (a lean over doesn't count), we finally managed to complete your WHOLE day's ride, with 179.9 kays on the dial...A first for this little black duck or should I say bike.. Wink
Accommodation, Location, Atmosphere, Them Hills, Tracks & Views, The Weather Gods, The Kevington Pub & Lunch, Tail man 2 & most importantly all the great guys & gal that took part in this epic ride..what a blast! I must also especially thank Pete, Nathan & Tail 2, for splitting towards the end of the ride from the group, for taking me home via more magic hills & rescuing me from the Erzberg Special Section that all others conquered...I was pretty much flogged by then having done my longest ride ever & Nathan, whatever is in that energy goo, it worked a treat, as once on the home straight, it was like someone had left the gate open  Cool Huge Thanks Once Again...
Here are some shots of the day.
Cheers,
Marls
PS  also a shot of why you should replace your helmet after a big stack  Cry...all ok though & survived...
