Two Hills Road Ride Report 12/11/11 by Brad McDiarmid
Thank you to everyone who attended the ride the weather was excellent with some greasy red with green moss tracks in the morning and dust in the afternoon which is about as good as it gets for ride conditions. Having not been in the area for some time needed to refer to the map to keep us on track, also had not had the time to recce the last section into Narbie where Phil and Mark provided guidance, thanks. Pleased to say that we did not make any wrong turns during the day.
Ride went pretty good started 9am and finished about 5pm for around 100Km's traveled. One minor cut injury (hope you are OK today and get a present!), flat tyre (tools and spares), drowned bike(unlucky) and one that needed some carbie adjustments (investigate a tuneup). Once again the radios were helpful on all occasions during the ride although my microphone/speaker fell into the rear wheel and got chewed up.
Small issue when there was NO fuel at the Narbie Roadhouse and after a tally of who was short they helped us out from their own bike jerry cans. The food looked Ok and was eagerly consumed then we returned having traversed the forest from west to east now that the tracks were reopened.
Special thanks to the Zeb, Mark and Sean for their ride duties and assistance provided on the day; you guys are a credit to the club and make my job easier as ride leader.

Thanks Brad for the day, Thanks also to Mark, Seano and Zeb for their roles. The weather couldnt have been much better and the tracks were great, although, the jury is still out on that slippery "little", clay based, moss covered, rutt ridden down hill section before the Narbie lunch break! Glad the general concensus was to give it a miss on the way back! Thanks to everyone on the ride, it was a very enjoyable day. Cheers, Neal.

Great ride report so far fellas, I wish I was there riding with you blokes, the way I feel now it wont be far off. I think I know that track with the moss on it, slippery isn't the word for it, I reckon it would sort out the best riders in the club

Thanks again for organising the ride Brad, and to Zeb, Mark and Seano for keeping us all in line.
A good ride, with some great 'testing' tracks, perfect weather, and the pace picked up nicely at the end of the day. I'm getting the hang of my YZ now and was enjoying every moment on it yesterday - drove home smiling all the way.
I'm still trying to get the black mud out of my clothes from the 'super-roost' that Zeb clobbered me with, but the bike is now clean at least.
See you all at Marysville!

Pete i felt really bad for a little while - I only focus on whats ahead of me and live by the rule " when in doubt use RPM and clutch to get out " didnt know you were behind me , if i had of known that i would not have used my legs to push forward i would have just sat and spun the rear for a little longer ....

Yes indeedee a pretty good day out of the office.
That slipppppy down hill was'nt too bad, just had to be patient in the traffic. Helped a couple of guys out by introducing them to the dead engine roll. Leave it in first or second and use the clutch as a back break. Leaves both legs free for trainer wheel duties, just make sure the ignition is off to avoid an embarrassing hook up and drive.
We surprised them at the road house, only one sausage roll and one pie in the heater - gee I really enjoyed that sausage roll. Maybe a ring thru before we arrive next time?
Fancy people still going for a ride without a wheel nut spanner or tubes - Tut Tut. My magic tool came to the rescue, no he didn't get a good rodgering, it was my multii grips that just managed to loosen that nut with box spanner extension and three hands, and don't forget a bit of grease on the axle Mr Honda rider. It was all back together after the second tube went in, another Tut Tut, and the wheel was still rocking from side to side - What The!! I spent the next 10 mins re-tensioning the spokes that were at best nearly finger tight. Lucky we had the puncture - easier to fix than a collapsed wheel.
Good to see Phil out for a ride and I havn't had a ride with Ted for Years, he celebrated by filling me in from a puddle as I was about to pass him, some things never change, Ha Ha.
I think we got the old YZ starting sorted after a carbie air jet fiddle and a little throttle for starting he was a lot happier, after that it's throttle control, just ease it open and use the mid range drive, if you just snap it open all you get is wheel spin - ain't that right Zeb!!
Thanks to Everybody, but especially Mark & Seanno who got their boots all muddy getting me out of the smelly bog hole -Oops!!
