Ride Report Black Range North 17th of September Author Brad McDiarmid

Great turnout to my first run ride after the bummer Ski season. Excellent turn out of thirty one people and the weather gods had blessed us with 25 degrees. This was my first run ride in this part of the forest and went pretty smooth for a number of reasons. The morning loop was around 57KM and took 3hours returning to the cars for fuel and food. The afternoon loop with a couple of extra narrow’s thrown in was just over 36KM and took a bit over 2hrs with all of us returning to the cars just after 3pm as there were no major issues on the day.

Some of the trails were a bit slippery in places but overall the grip was there. In the afternoon we did some challenging hills and everyone got through as we worked as a team.

Thank you to ALL of the riders you all rode well and were receptive to the terrain with only minor bike issues. Maintenance is such an important thing as is bike selection for fun riding.

Special thanks to Rossi and Zeb for their AM and PM tail man duties respectively and Peter Ross for bringing the UHF radios which worked as treat on more than one occasion in keeping the group together and flowing.

Thanks Brad for putting on a great ride  Grin
The weather was perfect & apart from the tracks being a little bit slippery in some sections, I managed to get through with only one tip over (not classed as an off  Lips sealed). A great bunch of guys & gal to ride with as always & was great chatting to the new members.
I did the morning loop & was great to ride with tailman Rossi Boots again, who thankfully, didn't see me for most of the morning & when he did on that rocky uphill, I was able to save my self  Huh Thanks Rossi for morning duties.  Freddo continued with the boys on the arvo loop, with tailman Zeb keeping on eye on them all...thank's Zeb for that....
Looking forward to your next one Brad...
Cheers,
Marls & Freddo

Goes well Ken more like a 450 than 250 in some respects like treating the power gentle when its slick or wet and now I enjoy the more powerful cruise up and down hills vs the gear changes on the 250.
Front sprocket must be made of butter 500K's and its curling over. Easy to maintain.

Love it.

Thanks for putting on another well organised ride Brad, and to Rossi and Zeb for keeping us in line. And the weather gods were definitely smiling down on us!

Having 3 on a corner worked out nicely and kept the ride flowing for the whole day - it also gave people a chance to chat whilst waiting for the tailman to arrive.

There's a good mix of tracks up there, and the only thing that seemed to be missing was a river crossing or two...

Good job Brad, thanks Zeb for sharing the tail duties. Goes to show that large rides that are well organized and punters that turn up with well maintained bikes, can be successfully run, oh and the weather does help... Grin
PS. Found a quality multi tool on the morning loop, please post me if you have lost it.

Top ride Brad, thanks again for running such a well organised day.

Look forward to the next one you put on.

Anyone know who the rider was shooting footage with the cam?? Is it uploaded/posted anywhere?

Cheers,

George

Thanks Brad.  Really enjoyed the ride. Giving all the riders an idea of what was coming up was fantastic.  Glad I have put my name up for a few more of your rides. Thanks Rossi and Zeb for tailman duties.
