Title: Tickets ran out of Tickets - Vesper Road Noojee 24/9/11
Post by: Clarky on September 24, 2011, 09,25:58 AM
Three of us were on the web to go for a squirt to welcome Seano's new bike to the clan. Well the word must got out and there were 14 in the care park - or - you could say we ran into Yarra Valley and her mates. Seano very proudly (and justifyably) showing off his gl;eaming new weapon which also includes a senational exhaust protector with a laser cut "Tickets". Nice work Seano. So we teamed up and off we went with the red and white stallion leading the way. Up down round and round we went. Senational trails and the group was flowing very nicely. Yarra Valley (Emma) at a regroup mentioned that her bike was making some funny noises when she braked. Inspections showed nothing obviouse and with a "she'll be right" off we went. Next regroup no Yarra Valley. She only went about another 100 meters and found that the chain guide rubbers weren't there anymore and her chain life was not that much longer. Back to the cars she limped. Up and down round and round we went then all hell broke loose. I cam to a bend on a track and there were bikes down everywher - must have been 4/5 bikes sprawled across the track. One bloke was laid out on his back and going nowhere. As we all stopped some went to the bloke on the ground others saw to to clearing the bikes. What a mess. What happened was a couple of fellas were out enjoying the trails. Their lead bloke came around a sweeping right hander (for him) and he was hugging the inside line. Tickets was leading us and doing the right thing and hugging the inside line. Two bikes on the same line both doing probably 50 kms per hour. Tickets made a quick jerk to the right. Realised the inevitable, shed a tear for the new bike having only done about 10 k's on it and grew wings and jumped and flew clear of the oncoming bike. The other fella not so furtunate. It looks like Seano's left fork collected the other fellas left fork. SMASH. Seano impersonated Superman and after doing comando rolls into the scrub on the right and the other fella cleaning up Seano's bike ended up across the trail. Then a few other bikes cleaned up the bikes sprawed across the track. The fella on the track got it all togther after a little while. Seano landed a bit hard and sooked about sore hands. Both of these blokes were extremely lucky not to be on the ward with Frankie. Seano controlled himself very well as he was justifyably really pissed off. The other fella said he was sorry 100 times and he meant it. poo happens out there sometimes. The other fellas bike was certainly worse for wear with light speedo etc. all gone, most bits bent or broken. We go it toghere with ever reliable cable ties and got it going. He gingerly got up and about and rode the bike home very very slowly. Seano's brand new steed now has a broken left hand side plastics - 1 big long piece, bent radiator, bars that dont face the right way, a large chunk out of the bottom the the forks, the force radiator gurad certainly saved massive damage, it was all bent etc. however without it there would have been a lot more broken bits. As for safety gear Seano had it all and used it all. The result a bike that continued for the rest of the day and body that could also. Seano then whinged and whinged about handlebars facing the wrong way. Luckily he carries spare bolts that hold the bars on which were replaced weith some effect and enough to continue on and enough for him to keep on whinging (and fair enough too Seano - plus I am making it sound a little worse than it was - writers priveledge). Off we went more ups and downs rounds and rounds - what a hoot. Break for lunch and a chance for Seano to play with the spanners some more. Back going again after a short break. Round and round we went then Seano had a rear tyre going flat. Propped her up and started to change and then thought lets just add some air and see what happens. That we did and the air stayed in the tube.  Yipee - off we wenet fingers crossed. Up and down round and round some more and then we were back at the cars. Thanks to Seano for leading, Wiggy for AM tailman duty and another fella for PM tailman duty. Great trails with a top bunch and riders.

So you stacked ya bike "You Idiot".
Don't worry about the plastics you Spastic, just keep riding it, you'll only stack it again , worry about the plastics before you sell it.
How Bads the radiator? There is a place somewhere down your neck of the woods that fixes them, someone will know "Like Ken".
"Oh yeh" maybe you need look where your going next time.

Hey Seano,

Sorry to hear about your mishap.
Regarding your radiator- I may be able to help.
When I damaged mine, I took it to a bloke in Dandenong at RACE RADIATORS. Tony is the guy's name and he is located at 59 Bennet Street Dandenong.
He does a good job and I recommend him.
Hope it helps.

Adam :)

Speweing what happened to you but at least you came away ok yourself it could have been much worse.. just thankfull you are ok.

Feel for the guy reporting suspected Skull Frature and knee in a brace.. He did wack his head quite hard , it was bleeding...

Dispite the dramas i would just like to say thanks again, my first time out there at Fumina and it was a good loop. 86Ks covered for the day, and i was on the verge of hitting the reserve switch when i got back to the car.

Thankd to Wiggy for the sweeping duities and that goat trail was heaven sent.. loved it !!!

Bit of bad luck there Seanno. When I got cleaned up by a dick on the wrong side of the road even tho he had a broken shoulder I still made the dick head pay for my repairs. And he was lucky he had a broken shoulder cus if he hadn't screamed when I grabbed him I was going to punch his lights out. I say maximise their pain!!

Any way, enough anger, yes the guy in Dandenong is in Bennet St I think it's  Rad Radiators anyway he is a top operator.

Hey Seano, hard luck there mate. Still not enough to win crash and burn award though. You were just going for the trophy weren't you!

Another vote for Race Radiators in Dandy, if you get it there Monday they can have done by Friday, if you ask nice.

Also, Force will sell you just the bits you need for the rad guards, unless the whole thing is trashed. In which case tell em you are from AMTRA and they should look after you a bit.

Hope the body recovers soon.

Seeya Wed.

Mat.

Mate sorry to hear about your coming together of bikes
not a nice way to make new friends.
But any one you walk away from is a good one, better to be at the bike shop buying parts then being drawn on by a surgeon

This is becoming far to frequent we should give this some thought as to why all of a sudden we are having this type a accidents

Because I'm not allowed to wash my left leg yet I still have the reminder of the surgeons textar let alone the pain that goes with surgery even though u r in lots of pain Meat Head is right better a bit of financial pain than the pain of injury, you'll b right mate and HTFU by the way, we can throw the hat around on wedensday night to cover your plastics or I can bring u a roll of express post race tape to tape then up if u wish. Count your blessings mate your glass is still half full, c ya wedensday . Will

[/quote]thankyou for the offer it is much appreciated but please no hat passing thankyou .Our sport is expensive enough to run your own bike let alone chippn in for someone elses who,s just havin a big sook about whats happened to him.We all damage our bikes or need tyres or chain and sprockets or etc ,ect we,d only be passin the hat for each other round and round and round. So once again thankyou for the offer but no thankyou I,ll get over it in time   TA-Seano

Hey Seano.

Thamx for leading my 'crew' around Fumina.  Hubby was pleased as we where only working of our GPS.  Although it's a great ride leader on many occasions :)

I am bummed about you're stack - and my mate Jonny was spewing about his bike to, He bent his Muffler and broke a few other things on his Lemon DRZ.  So 3 bikes bit the dust - luckey you all rode out.

I was upset that I could only do 4km of the ride - not my bikes fault in any way - the chain slider was the least of my worries and was a red light that went off before the serious issue that my rear bearing was on the verge of collapse ( bearings less than 1000km old people - Hubby fitted cheap poo, not happy ), so it ws a blessing, my rear hub WAS OFF ITS FACE when I got the bike home and looked at it .....

So to save $30 and buy decent Gen Kasasaki that do at least 4000km standing on their head, hubby brought All Balls and they are POO !!  The rear hub is going to cost about $500-$800 to replace.  :(

 Love you guys xoxox

 Yazza

You might get 4000ks out of wheel bearings if you service them regularly.

Buy good quality at any bearing outlet and keep an eye on them by flicking the seals out and putting a bit of clean grease in as required.

If they are really wet/rusty inside replace before you can feel any movement. When you can feel movement you may be half a ride away from failure and expensive hub damage.

I reckon that's pretty good, I priced up the parts for Frankies bike from Aus and the parts only come in at $1900 plus fork reseal. Just waiting 2 hear back from my overseas supplier now. No labour charge or mark up on Frankies parts so I think considering how hard parts can be to find for your bikes that's not bad.

Just got the quote from my contact overseas around $1250 with shipping to aus. Now thats why I buy so much from overseas $750 less than buying from Aus, thats a weeks wage for a lot of people and thats all genuine KTM parts.

OMG - Really Ken !!  I did not know that .....

As you can probably tell I'm being sarcastic  :P  I have only just read what you have posted.

I look after my bike.  It's my baby. Anyone who knows me knows how much I look after my bike.

The bearing was removed by a top engineer and the hub repaired ( cost me heaps ).

He said " I have never seen anything like it before".  Ken.  The bearing was in top condition, no rust, fresh grease. no heat damage apart from what happend on it's epic failure.

It could have happend to anyone and any bike, and as bad luck can happen it did it to me.

It was put down to a manufactoring error - crack in the side of the bearing .....

Many people where very perplexed about what happend ... it's not a common thing.

Thank goodness for that !!!  ( apart from me being the one it happend to ) !

 Yazza

 Wheel fixed .....  $ 390

Sorry to be telling you how to suck eggs - that can happen with "posts for all"

A broken bearing - that's the first one I've heard about in 42 years trail riding - you certainly were unlucky.

What brand of bearing was it?

Glad you got it all fixed for a good price too!! You found an engineer that doesn't charge like a wounded bull.
