What an awesome weekend, it started for me when I left home at 7pm Friday night and arriving at about 8.50pm at Cheynes Bridge to Find Frank, Ted, Wiggy and Anthony already settled in with the camp fire burning and tents and shelter's up. Serge and onion were next to arrive followed close behind was James and Matts family and Matt arriving around 12.30. We were up nice and early with everyone chomping at the bit, but we had to wait for the others to arrive. 9.30am came along and Rossi and Colin had not arrived. Pommy Mat and I decided that we would share the lead duty's in case I was not going quick enough for some they could pass me and follow Mat in some of the faster areas. We could not wait any longer so off we went up Cheynes Bridge Tk and onto Black Range Tk, down Bark Hut Tk and onto Porters Creek Tk to McEvoys. As we were having a regroup I noticed Teds LH engine cover and LH boot were soaked with oil. A quick investigation indicated it was coming from the spark plug valley drain hole. It was decided that we would fix it there and then, so Anthony and Onion and couple of us others got stuck in and got the seat and tank off and Anthony and Onion unbolted the rocker cover of to find the Tube seal for the Valley was not fitted correctly after Ted had just had the valves adjusted. Anyway back together and cover all the oil in dust so when we check again we could see if there was anymore fresh oil which of coarse as the guys had fixed it there was no more problems. We were of once more down McEvoys to Binns Rd and into the steep stuff of Deep Creek No 5 Tk and into Deep Creek No 2 Tk then down No1 Tk which part of the track is actually a creek bed for a few hundred mtrs, felt like a trials rider, what an experience, we finally made it to Maiden Town Tk were we had a little wait on the corner of Britannia Tk as Pommy Mat had to fix a flat front and Ted was trotting along at his own pace trying to recover from Tk No 1. We soon regrouped and headed down Britannia and across and into Mormon Town Tk to the end at the Thomson River Bridge were we crossed the bridge and went up the Old Depot Rd and into Rawson for lunch at the Stockyard Bar and Bistro. What a great place for a feed, we were made very welcome and the food and cold drinks were awesome. Once we had refueled our body's it was time to refuel the bikes so it was into the main street for a quick top up of the tanks for the return trip. We then headed back down the same tracks to Maiden Town Tk were we then went up Gladstone Tk and up Deep Creek No2 Tk. This is were the fun of the day really started. First Ted and I got stuck on a steep bit so back down we went, after a quick rest Ted set of again to get to about 12inchs of the next landing spot on the steep hill due to being in 2 ruts at once. I rode up to the landing spot and as he was needing help I continued to the next as it looked flatter. As I arrived Anthony came back to check on us and he went down to help Ted followed by Pommy Mat. We were all going once more and Mat and I and few others arrived at the intersection of Binns Rd and Deep Creek No 5 for a regroup. As more riders arrived it was evident that there was a few stuck behind so Pommy Mat and Wiggy went back to help out. Frankie and Gary had burst there boilers trying to get there 2 smokers up them darn steep hills, Mat got them and there bikes up and soon we were all regrouped. It was at this point that I realized that I had broken Frankie, he did not like my hills to much, even though he had been up them with Mat and myself before. As there was some very tired looking body's just holding together I decided to cut a 20klm section out and head back the quickest way, so we headed to McEvoys then Bark Hut Tk and onto Black Range Tk and down Cheynes Bridge Tk and back to our camping spot. As I was getting undressed it was reported to me that David Petroff had missed Wiggy on the last corner and had gone the wrong way. It was at this point that I realised that although a person can be a member of AMTRA for a long time and they can still get the corner man system wrong, Wiggy had left his corner thinking that David may have got onto the Cheynes Bridge Tk at another entrance, Pommy Mat and his Son Jake took off up Cheynes Bridge Tk to find David which they did with out too much trouble thankfully, and before long most of us were in the Macalister River having a well earnt Beer and cool down and wash. Guys no matter what, we need to remember that when you are on corner duty you keep yourself in site of the oncoming riders, and you direct them in the correct direction, and you do not leave that corner until the lead rider or the tail man directs you too. it is not the cornerman's decision to leave the corner. We where lucky this time, but next time we may not be so lucky. Anyway apart from that little miss hap it was dusty and about 28degrees but I loved it, as did the rest of the group, and the dip in the river afterwards really topped of a great day on the bikes. There was a few off's through out the day, but no injuries. Most ventured home Saturday night but myself, Ted, Anthony, Gary and James and Mat and his family stayed over for some serious Poo Stirring, by the time Frank had dragged his sorry backside from the river, he had his famous smile back on his face. I would like to thank all the guys who attended, cause without you blokes, the weekend would not have been as good as it was, too Wiggy, for all his local knowledge, and too pommy Mat for joint leading, and too Anthony and Menace for sharing Tail duties, and to the great effort everyone made getting up them commitment hills. Till next time Will

Will's Cheyne's Bridge ride as a hoot!
Onion and I left Burwood at 6:00 PM, and at 3 hours door to door, this ride destination is right on the cusp of being a day or over-night trip. We arrived at 9:00, and got set-up and fed, before settling into to a night of libations and banter.
The morning started off quite cool, but warmed up by the time we were geared-up and ready to go. This area reminded me what dust was all about. At times it certainly seemes that you couldn't see the erosion hump you were un-expectedly launching off! Anyway, all was good, especially once we hit the Stockyard for lunch.
The afternoon tracks were getting a little tougher and the hills were certainly steeper. If you don't like rocky hill climbs and long, rocky descents then avoid this place. Personally, I love it, especially when I'm at the top of those hills!
Despite doing around 140 ks (sorry, I didn't check my speedo), of great tracks with only one puncture and one minor mechanical issue, the highlight of my day was diving into the Macalister River for a cool off at the end. Sitting there with a beer in my hand was heaven on a plate!
Thanx to Will for another great ride (weekend?), and to all those who did tailman/sweep/ride-leader duties.

I think we were getting more buggered as the hills got steeper, a vicious circle. That decent down Cheynes bridge track when your arms and legs are screeming is just brilliant, especially when you see how close the river and beer are.
Thanks for a top weekend, had a ball as usual.

I left home at about 11am stopped of at the BP sands road on the way & met up with some blokes from DBW that were doing a ride from Licola to Dargo, after the usual chit chat I found out that Ted was in front of me by an hour or so.Leaving Cowwarr to Seaton, driving along thinking about how good life is & looking so forward to this weekend, then I noticed something up ahead, as I got closer I could see a Yellow bike on a trailer towed by a van, knowing it had to be Ted I pulled up, yep it was Ted alright busy cutting fire wood, he had his back to me & couldn't hear me calling out to him, after the calling out to him the 3rd time he saw me & just about had a heart attack When we arrived at Cheynes Bridge we picked out a good spot with plenty of room for everyone else that was coming. Then a little trouble started with a Women that was already there, telling us that we couldn't camp there, because that area was reserved for 17 others that was coming, anyway I told her that she couldn't do that because the camp site is a public place & first in best dressed, then Ted & I set up camp, by the way those 17 ppl didn't turn up I reckon it was because we had motorbikes. After a late night & a great sleep, got up around 7am ready for the ride ahead, the dust wasn't to bad, it always takes me a while to get into the grove everything was going well until one of the big loose rocky down hills I high sided my self & landing on my right shoulder doing a little bit of Ligament damage, after doing some HTFU rides I picket myself up & carried on, then the next down hill I did the same thing again, yeah that's what happens when you sit on the bike going down hills, not wanting to do that again it was standing up from then on Didn't have any trouble getting up hills except one hill, I had 3 goes at it, but with others also trying to get up made it hard to fined a good line, that hill you needed a good run up, but from where you started the run up you couldn't see if the hill was clear, after 3 goes at it I was stuffed,& by that time I was very pissed off, maybe not pissed off more like frustrated with my self that things is getting harder as I get older, I still think that I'm 20 or 30 Mat came to the rescue once again, reminding me how to ride a 2 stroke up a hill, hitting it in 4th gear & spent most of the time on the back wheel thanks Mate, I bet you had a big smile on your face Getting back to camp 1st up was a nice cold beer, & then lay in the river for 1/2 an hour Yeah we had a lot to talk about around the camp fire last night with plenty of laughs. To sum it up it was a great weekend. Thanks Will, for putting it on & doing the lead & of cause the tailman Anthony & Menace. As I've said before it's the company that makes these rides so good. Once again I had a ball. Thanks fellas. Frankie.

A truly great ride which really tested my stamina and perserverance to keep climbing those long hills and keep jumping those erosion mounds. Very satisfying to finally roll back into the campsite, even after losing my way on the last corner back to Cheynes Bridge Track. A very big thank you to Matt and James for coming back to look for me, it could have been worse... Don't worry Wiggy, we all still love you mate, but I honestly didn't see you on that corner and I kept following the main track and turned around after a couple of Km's when I realised my mistake. The steep hill on the way back in the afternoon took me three goes to get up, and I managed to twist my left knee in the process after coming to grief trying to go around other riders on the way up. The knee blew up like a rockmelon that night and I've been icing it to get the swelling down. It feels a lot better today. Thanks Gary for your help on my last attempt with bung knee. Thanks Will for putting on a great ride and I must definately camp there next time. Cheers to a great bunch of guys who helped make the day memorable. David P

i had a ball Bill, Matt and I arrived fashionably late, of course and raced to get ready.... it was bloody hot already we took on cheynes bridge track straight off, a personal favourite of mine, its a great warm up. believe it or not guys, i have been up that track a couple of years ago and it was snowing at the top ive got some pics to prove it.... somewhere the Deep creek tracks were awesome. i havent been there since i was a novice.... well more of a novice back then, and i remember wanting to cry saturday i nailed them but had many a moment doing so on the loose stuff and rock steps. i think a few of the crew might have been swimming in the deep end you might say but hey, its character building the pub is an awesome place. the swampy's were on flat out and the place was cool! good beer and tucker...and laughs im not real big on riding home with a gutfull in the heat so i slotted in as Tailman for the arvo. it really is a different perspective of riding from the back. while cruising along way back to avoid the dust i was having fun jumping off stuff or bouncing off berms. i was practicing my 'trials balance' while coaxing Ted down the hills (the poor bugger was in a leg cramping frenzy), it got pretty interesting after i cooked my rear brake though i even rode Teds bike up the end of a big hill on the way home. i havent ridden a 4T in years, let alone a DRZ and a mid hill take off i suprised myself and i was whooping it up when i made it. thank god Matt came back and blasted all the bikes up as i was spent by then. i dont think Bill has ever seen his bike go so fast. i thought the boys were gonna have a heart attack as they walked up to the top i feel partially responsible for the mix up with losing Dave as i was tailman. my apologies as i broke the rules too, although i didnt realise i did till after. sorry Dave anyway, the scotch and coke was like gold as it cleared the dust away and we all wanted to stay and drink some more. unfortunately Bills wife told him he was naughty and we all had to go home i slept from traralgon to pakenham... it was like a time warp was good to ride with you blokes again and to meet some more members. cheers dudes, Dennis the Menace. ps- Frankie, you are really an inspiration for a whinging, old, deaf, crazyman..... go the 2 bangers mate
