"I've Done Donald's Track"

« on: March 21, 2010, 07,00:57 AM »

Started off at Eildon near the Golden Trout Pub at 8.30am, nice cool misty morning with 15 starters for the day.
At a brisk, steady pace, we headed into the mountains on our journey to Woods Point, which I have never ridden to before.
Pete lead us on some great flowing tracks, in the morning, nothing to hard except for a bit of one technical downhill with no carnage...yet.. I had a couple of minor mechanical problems that Mark & Matt sorted out for me in no time (thanks chaps) & we rocked up at Woody at around 1 o'clock.
Plenty of chicken parma's running around the front of the pub, so Pete decided it was chicken parma's all round  Grin We all knew they wouldn't run out of those! Top meal Wink
We refuelled & headed back to Eildon around 2 o'clock via German Spur Track & one big mother downhill which put everyone to the test & which worked off everyone's parma's. I got passed by John T on this monster downhill, tank slapping to get passed Mark, I got showered in boulders & I don't know how he saved himself & bike from a brutal off  Shocked I thought oh my God, the best save of the day, looked awesome from behind.
Towards the end of the ride, I came down on a jump a bit hard & jarred my knee & have had to cut my holidays short  Cry Off to the quacks tomorrow...ps Eric, I hope your ok mate ...see you out on the next ride (Marls is not happy with me either Lips sealed )
Here's some pics of the day.

Loaded my Bike n stuff around 2.00pm on Friday into the Vito and headed off to the Caravan park around 3.30, John T and i met at Yea and cruised into Eildon Around 5 ish. We settled in then headed for the Pub, as we walked in there was Marl's N Fred, so we ordered a meal and sat out on the deck looking over the Pondage and proceeded to have a few Ales. Around 7.30 Mat R turned up for Dinner and after another Beer or two we headed for Pete & Jo's Joint for some more Adult Fizzy drinks. Serge and Onion rolled up around 9 and we continued with the Fizzy drinks and went to bed around who Knows O'clock.

I woke up to hear the Shower running it was 7.00am, i cooked Bacon & Egg Rolls " Eggs supplied by Serge's Chooks" and we Drove to the Meeting Point.

By 8.15am we had a total of 16 coming, but one decided 200 klm's was a bit much for him so he whimped out. We took off around 8.35, it was quite foggy and very humid, the track were just about perfect for my riding style, but a few of the back markers said it was very dusty " WHAT DUST".
I decided to have a go on Robs FE390, good bike turns well, "but for me" , not enough grunt.

It was going to be a great day for a ride as we entered  the 15 Mile area. We headed south towards Stockman Rewards through some amazing track that i had never been on before, after crossing the Bridge near Stockman's we regrouped and took Page's track to Corn Hill Track. I was supposed to go down Frechmans Gap Track but everything looked so different after the Fires, i haven't done a Woods Point ride in many years, so i sort of got lost. We came out at Warburton - Woodspoint road an the south side of Woody, we had a regroup and with some help from Onion & Eric we were soon Decending towards the Pub. As we rolled in the pub all 15 of us, i sad to the Owner, what's for lunch, and with that a customer says CHICKEN PARMA'S are the Go, so i say give us  15 Parma, chips n salad and a Pot "easier that way.

As lunch was cooking we all headed over the road to Refuel for the trip back. Fuel at Woods Point is not available at the General store anymore so if going to Woody you should ring the Pub first and organise Fuel as i did, so you know you can get back. ($2.20 Ltr.)

Once they Caught the Chooks and turned them into Parma's we started back to Eildon sometime around 2.30 ish, the first track home is Old Coach RD and this Ends at German Spur Trk.
Now G/spur seems to go forever and i did seem like that at times until the 3 klm 40deg downhill. This downhill would have to be one of my favorite sections of Downhill that i have ridden over the years, once at the bottom we had another regroup and a good laugh about the Downhill.

Once again we all took off and Headed for Moon Light Spur Trk where Eric decided to dismount his bike and stuff up his Shoulder, i said to John T, "sh!t, we might get home around 2.00am like that ride 5 years ago. After a bit of stuffing around we all cruized up to Mt Terrible where Eric decided to go the direct way home and Mark C and Ben would assist him back to the car.

Now down to 11 riders we all rode down Newmans Trk to the Tar of Eildon - jamo Rd, i thought i would do some Legs up Mono's while riding the Tar section , but the leg was suffering from Pain so only managed a couple. Up Newmans Trk to 15 mile and onto Gap Trk where i thought i would give the boys a Narrow Trk workout, this would make them loose a few Kilo's and sweat like pigs they did.

Three more tracks and we were on the home stretch to Eildon and arrived at the cars around 6.00 "I Think",with 202klms on the clock. Everyone was totally Knackered and most headed home quickly.

Serge, Onion, Mat R, John T, Fred, marl's and i drove back to the Caravan for some Fizzy drinks and a good old yarn about the ride, John T left after a shower then Serge n Onion then Mat r headed for home, so back to the Eildon Pub fof the Three of us. This would be the Third Pub meal in Two days, we ate chatted till 11.30pm and went to bed. I set the alarm for 7.30am but woke up at 11.30am " i was stuffed", packed up and got home at 1.30pm.
Thanks to everyone for a great ride, it's good to be in a Club that has some Good Members that help each other, not like the Tyre looser who tried to Put me in the sh!t a Few Months Back." We know now who it is" your turn will come soon.  mmmmm
This ride is one i will remember, good weather, good Riding, good riders, good people.

I rekon it's pretty clever the way my chooks date stamp their eggs as they pass out their butts!

fred hows the knee??

Gidday Eric,
Glad to hear you're ok & nothing major wrong. You'll be back on the bike before you know it.
Me, well I'm a walking disaster  Embarrassed. Went to docs then hospital to get X-Ray & Ultrasound done on knee. They can't see any muscle or tendon damage, just bruised, but so much fluid inside the knee, have to have an MRI scan tomorrow, cause they think somethings stuffed under the knee cap. Really sore. Can hardly walk on it...but....it was worth the ride  Grin
Anyone want to take a p... off wife on a level one ride??? Will, looks like I have to pull out of your Neerim ride on Sunday  Cry
Until the next ride..(who knows when).....Fred.....

Hi Will,
Thanks for the offer, but I would hold you's up too much; don't want to ruin your day.  I can only do level 1 rides at this point of the learning  Huh... Cheers, Marls

Will; if by some miracle, all is ok by Sunday, i'll rock up, but doubt it very much... Instead, we'll both come to the pub for lunch if that's ok?..Fred

I would not worry about holding us up at this stage Marls as I may have to ride my old 600 at this stage, but if you both want 2 come for lunch that will be fine as well. Will
