I cant report on the ride as my arm and shoulder are still not right so I decided of not to ride but met everyone there for 8am and help Pommy Mat get organized for his first AMTRA ride as a ride leader. Supplied him with a route sheet and map did the attendance sheet and 1 indemnity form for him and Marls and I waved by by to 12 riders. We then waited for Phill Randall to turn up but after 10 minutes we headed of in the 4wd to do some exploring around Noojee and surrounding areas.
We got back to Neerim around 11.15am quick morning tea then a trip up Beards track in the car and back to the carpark to find the riders returning as we arrived.
They quickly got changed and packed up and it was of to the pub for lunch. We finally caught up with Phill so it made it 15 for lunch which was great. Everyone had a smile on there dial and were all having a great day which is always a blast when you organized such an outing. As far as the ride everyone else can report on that but by what I can tell everyone enjoyed the ride. Thanks to Pommy Mat for stepping in for me at the last minute and to Bill for doing Tailman duty and to everyone else who came along and made it a great day out. And to all who said were coming and didn't come, a big raspberry  to ya's cause ya misted out. Will

Had a great day, A bit cold to start with everyone had their jackets on except me, the only time I felt the cold was when we rode the open road stuff, when we hit the trails I soon warmed up Grin did I tell ya how good the Kato 300 is, awesome bike Grin
Mat did a great job leading us around Neerim, I heard he only had one off for the day Grin Grin I had to put that in mate Grin
it was quite busy on the trails with bikes & 4x4's I've never seen the unloading area so full, some had to park on the road side.

Mat was supposed to take us on some easy tracks for us old farts Cheesy which he did, just for interest he also threw in some tracks with the famous Neerim bog holes, Fred had a swim in one of them Grin further along there was a bit of a hold up, all I could see looking past 3 or 4 riders in front of me & the bushes & trees was my son lifting a bike up, I thought that he had come off & I was also worried that he might do his back in lifting the bike up, as it turned out he was helping some one else I couldn't see who it was, he was on hand a couple of times that I saw, good on ya Son Grin
I swapped bikes with him for the last 15 minutes of the ride,me now on the Yamaha 250 nice bike to ride but no were near the power of the Kato 300, my Son said that he had forgotten how good the 2 strokes are, if he was to buy a  dirt bike again, he would buy a smoker for sure.

As I said before I had a great day with a great bunch of blokes & my Son being there was extra special.

Thanks Mat for leading & Bill for the sweep.

Falling off doesn't hurt, it's the sudden stop that does the damage.

I think the conditions were almost perfect for the ride today - dry enough for good traction, but with a bit of mud and puddles thrown in to keep us on our toes! The sunshine breaking through the trees was a novelty for this time of year.

Thanks to Mat and Bill for keeping us all in line - The ride flowed really well with the 12 of us and there were no unexpected dramas to slow things down (well, apart from one slightly damp Husky).

And thanks to Will for doing the organising, even if he did have to stay on the sidelines for this one.

I had a great ride today it flowed well for an old farts ride, with a few testing tracks thown in. A big thanks to Will & Matt for organising it all but I was a bit disapointed Will did not meet us out at the junction with Coffee & Scones for mornig tea since he was not riding Wink Wink

Also a big thanks to Fred for the great laugh watching him laying like a turtle stuck on his back in a very deep bog whole Grin but he rode very well today and conquered all that was thrown at him, I think Matt forgot it was an old farts ride Wink Wink

I also enjoyed the tail duties today at least I didn't hold anyone up Smiley Smiley Smiley

Well...... another great day out !!!
Good on ya' Matt for taking on ride leader duties.
We covered a lot of the usual tracks, which was ideal for me to get more of a feel for the Husky 150......
This little thing is one helluva fun bike !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Through the tight stuff it is an absolute delight..... no huffing, puffing, sweating or swearing, just point & go !!! & in the open, blast into the top end end & hang on !!... I kept talking to myself ...... is this really only 150cc ?.
You can certainly just doodle along on it at a cuisey pace, but if you want to go harder, it wont tolerate laziness....
It doesn't like water much either........ It was literally dancing around all the slop on the bog hole section untill the very last bog......I thought bugger it ! it cant be too deep ........... smack into a pool of wet cement !!!!!
It sucked a bit of moisture up a breather tube & didn't want to start !!!Drain carby & all is good !  took about 3 minutes.   ( re-route breather tubes required)
Who saw the big ugly rat at one of our rest stops ?  I think it jumped out of the airbox of Matt's cr when he was trying to start it !!!
Thanks for the day out & big thanks to Bill for sweeping.

Steve its a husky you should not be surprised ....  Wink

From my experience re route the crank case breather as well not just the carby ....  When you plung into a river with a hot engine it will suck water up into the crank case trust me ...  I got a metre of hose from Clarke rubber and rerouted it up over the frame then back down and out as per normal havent had a problem since .;  Cant wait to see it .
