Hi guys,
What a great day out in the dirt. Thanks so much to all the instructors on the day and Will for organising it. This was only my second AMTRA ride and it was great to meet a heap of new people.

Per your July training day, I would like to get some more training. Could you please put me on the list Will?

Thanks again everyone and I look forward to seeing some more pictures of the day. Smiley
Cheers,
Mark

Hi all,
Firstly, a "BIG THANKYOU" Will for putting on an excellent training day at Neerim South. Never a dull moment at this place (& never a dull moment of Will's rides), with it's changing terrain depending if it's wet or dry..and oh  Shocked those slippery slide hills...what cracker!  Lips sealed. Also huge thanks to Mat, Franky, Pat & Garry for all giving us all heaps of advice on the craft. Believe me, I really do try & take on board any advice given to me (just sometimes need a reminder occasionly).
Key points learnt on the day for me were:
1) Look ahead like your driving a car, don't look down. (What you can't see can't hurt you Wink)
2) Keep elbows up at all times, whether sitting, standing or stacking  Grin  Gives you heaps better control when your out of control.
3) Full throttle going up a greasy hill in 1st or 2nd & control speed & stalling with clutch. If all else fails, stick out a damsel in distress call & you WILL get help.
4) Possibly need to own a variety of bikes, at least 2. One fast, furious & grunty for the mountains (like for Pete's Eildon rides) & one lighter & lower for greasy, hilly, techno stuff like Neerim ie CRF230...You could always have a third for the Vinduro old fart rides too Cheesy
5) Give the bike some spurts of "Need For Speed" in the "You Know you want to" places "And the know you can do without stacking" places... Exhilerating. (I tried to drag tailman Mat & Frogman off on the home straight...(fat chance of that ever happening)  Lips sealed
6)Don't be afraid of coming off. Turns you into a comedian & keeps everyone else entertained. I guess that means don't be afraid of being laughed at either Roll Eyes
7)If riding through a clay slippery bit, as long as you don't touch the brakes you won't come off (yeh right  Cool)
Cool And most importantly, never give up...it get's easier.....eventually.... Huh
Also, a very big thankyou to our Paparatzi duo, Dan the Man, Darren & Freddo Frogman for their films & photo's. Helps us all re-live the experience. Top Jobby!
What a great day to challenge yourself & get that adrenillin pumping & can't help but go on the next one in a few weeks...I'm going to make it up those hills this time  (anyone got a spare WRF?Huh). Good to hear Peter R & Serge are coming as trainers as well!! Pics from the day will follow shortly.
Cheers...Marls  Smiley

Yeh, I agree Will...Hey Pete; how come you don't go on any of the Neerim rides? Huh    Even Serge girlyman goes sometimes, even though he does always chicken out at lunchtime... Bring your RMX...then you can let me have a ride of it???..

Control is Correct. For those who are new to the Club "2 years or less" have know idea about how many rides i have attended and how many rides i have put on over the last 10 or so Years,i think in  2005i put on and attended & Tailed about 24 rides , yes i have been to Neerim, Fumina, Labatouche, corner Inlet, Erica/Rawson, loch valley, Dargo and about another 40 odd different riding areas from 1989-2002.
As the Calendar stands there is 4 weekends in every month, and it goes like this: 1st weekend Family Stuff, 2 weekend Work, 3rd Weekend Riding, 4th Weekend wife's Choice.

I enjoy putting on rides, and this is MY contribution to the club, i like doing things for people like the BBQ or making Spring Rolls for the members, so once i get a bit tired of putting on rides(this has happened in the past) i will start doing other rides. It's one or the other for me and at the moment i'm happy to be a ride Leader.
I'm in Control, call me the FAT CONTROLLER.
