Ill start and perhaps a few of the others can add there bits.
We started with 24 riders in the morning for a level 1 2 ride. As the weather was so warm the emphasis for the morning was to mainly stick to the open free flowing trails to keep the wind going over our bodys to try to keep us cool.
As usual Brad put on some great trails with some tricky up and down hills, we had one retirement early on from a new come who  was having battery problems with his Suzuki and without a kick starter was going to make it hard for the rest of the morning.
A big thumbs up must go to another new comer to our sport, i think his name was David who had his first outing at Cobaw last time and his second yesterday in the morning on his road going DRZ with his road gearing etc once again got through another level 1 2 session relatively unscathed and all things considered seamed much quicker towards the end of the morning ride than at the start of it.
We did around 50 ks in the morning session and returned to the cars for refuel and lunch.
For the after noon Level two session we had some retirements from the morning and couple of more riders joined us for teh after noon ride starting with 21.
Even though it was now 31 c degrees in the shade the emphasis which was placed on the morning ride was all gone and pretty much Brad had us in  some very tight small 4wd tracks which were enclosed by trees and bushes and with no wind present and which they just seemed to go on and on for ever all of a sudden I was over heating, luckily we only did 2 of these then headed to the river for the big crossing.
On he way we lost one more rider who had a big off on a fast up hill section and with a thumb resembling Phill's he headed for home and Luke chickened out and also went back with some weak excuse about having to get home to wash his boat so he could go out in it on Sunday.
Not only was it my first river crossing I reckon it was about 17 others first crossing as well.
We all managed to get through first time with the help of Tim and Simon and a couple of others taking time to cool down in the river and guiding us through.
At this point I was just about out of it but thanks to Dr Brad and his GU Gel Triple Berry with in a few minutes I was feeling like new.
We set off and did some big loops with some big nasty ups and downs which I think we all managed with out to much trouble.
We then got back to the river crossing were 18 of us got through once again but 1 poor bugger decided that the water just looked to good so he decided to not only cool himself down but also his bike.
With a few of the guys getting stuck into drying out the CRF it was decided as it was now 5pm we should head down the road back to the cars. With around a further 70 ks under our wheels it was another great ride, thanks once again Dr Brad and what treatment would you prescribe for a swollen want gland for Pete"s spring rolls ? Will

Will, Good report.
On the gland question, which one are we talking about any prognosis Will (my pun of the day) require more information. Can you identify the issue from the list below, although I am almost to scared to ask?

      Pituitary Gland
   1. The pituitary gland is the size of a pea and is composed of an anterior gland and a posterior gland. Located in the brain, these glands release hormones for various functions. The anterior pituitary gland releases hormones used to regulate growth, ovary development and blood sugar levels. The posterior pituitary glands releases hormones used in the production of antidiuretics and oxytocin.
      Hypothalamus
   2. The hypothalamus is located in the brain and acts as a regulator for the entire body. The hypothalamus serves to keep the body at an even level, in terms to temperature, oxygen levels and blood sugar levels. This function is referred to as homeostasis.
      Thyroid Gland
   3. The thyroid is located in the throat, just above the voice box. This gland regulates weight and produces calcitonin, which controls the levels of calcium in the body. Four smaller glands are located behind the thyroid, called the parathyriod glands. These glands work in conjunction with the thyroid to control hormone levels and calcium.
      Adrenal Glands
   4. The adrenal glands are located above the kidneys. These glands regulate minerals, including salt and potassium. Additionally, this gland releases reproductive hormones and anti-inflammatory hormones.
      Sex Glands
   5. Males and females have different reproductive glands. For the male, these glands release testosterone and assist in the production of sperm. For the female, these glands release estrogen and progesterone and assists in the production of ova.
      Thymus
   6. The thymus is located in the neck and is responsible for assisting the immune system.
      Pineal Gland
   7. The pineal gland is located in the brain. This gland receives information from the nervous system and releases the hormone melatonin. This hormone helps with sleep; therefore, the pineal gland is typically at work at night.

Hi Dr Brad, it is better known as the Want Gland and normally swells around tool shops, Motor cycle shops or vehicle speed shops or car and bike displays, and has been known to swell around some of the female race and the odd bit of food including some spring rolls from our own Peter R.

MMM, the prognosis is not good, this is incurable in all men. One temporary cure is to eat more of Peters spring rolls and chat over a beer at the November end of year club meeting.

Well.... what a FANTASTIC (allthough slightly warm) day!!
Once again I had a fantastic day out and am thinking that joining AMTRA was the best thing i've done in a long while..

I enjoyed the morning except for a slight mishap over a "jump" on my 2nd lap of the loop - got more air than i was expecting and forgot that its best to keep your feet on the pegs.... result was a lovely headbut of my handlebars and a few seconds where i had absolutly no control of the bike - i somehow stayed up but!!

Then whilst waiting to go up what i'll call "the Hill" i learnt that there's bleeder valves on the front forks (thanks Brad and one other person - not sure of your name sorry) - what a difference that made to the feel of the front end!!!! think i'll need to pay Chad a visit now and see what a full suspension service will do!!!

I thought the afternoon was fantastic and was absolutely STOKED at my first (and second!) river crossing - and after watching all the effort involved in removing a plug from the CRF i think i'll stick with the old 2 stroke!!

All in all i had a brilliant day and am really appreciating the tips from all on the ride(s) and also for being able to "watch and learn" from so many other riders. Am trying to work on going downhills a little better and whilst i feel i'm making progress i did get a little over confident during the afternoon and decided to pass Will going down one lovely rutted section... i stuck right to the side of the track, high up on the bank and unfortunately didnt allow for the camber..... i'm sure Will got a great show as i went flying and slid helmet/shoulder first for a bit!! you gotta love protective gear dont you?!?!?!? i guess that will teach me for thinking a few minutes earlier that i was going to be able to tell the mrs that i didnt fall off at all on this ride!!! Bloody karma!!

Anyway thanks again to Brad for all the organising and leading, Dennis and Carl for sweeping and also Scott (i hope thats right?!) for his leading as well..
