We must still be worn out from riding!

This came in from Phil Randall on the ride.

" Abbeyard in all its glory, we havn’t seen it that way for some time. The greens of the trees and grass are just superb.  The unofficial mowing brigade has been working overtime, even if they have left behind a few smelly mounds to squelch underfoot if you are not observant!!.

The hayshed is shaping up nicely with the advent of a partial kitchen and a few chairs.  The long table donated by Brad and painted up by Paul has taken pride of place in the centre of the shed. The hot showers with plenty of water were a welcome delight to the cold, wet and weary riders when they returned on Saturday night.

Unfortunately I could not ride, my broken leg of a year ago is still not playing ball and the term legless has taken on a more appropriate meaning than its usual use.

After what appeared to be an eventful and challenging day of river crossings and freezing water the conversation was all positive as we tucked into Tim’s culinary delights, followed by more laughs and friendly banter.

Thank you Tim for a wonderful meal and entertaining evening  with good  friends and good fellowship.

Abbeyard is back to what it used to be, a place of relaxation and intimate friendliness, the place we all knew so well in years gone by.

Thank you one and all,
Phil R."

I had a great weekend with some fantastic riding conditions. The view across to Hotham from the Helipad was nothing short of spectacular.

Returning from Harrietville we reached Clear Ck and it was neither clear nor creek, managing to sweep Tim off his feet as he walked back from checking conditions. We were going to throw Doug in, just for fun. With time no longer on our side it was back up Paddy's Hill (yee hah) and return to the crossing at Beveridge Station. A quick dash across the range and down Schultz for the final crossing (except for some softies who took the gentler route home, something about no front brakes). A few were running low on fuel and at the bottom of Schultz we had a dry Huski. A quick whip around of the bikes found a litre which was enough to get back to Abbeyard.

We rolled in around 5:30 with the sun setting and the roast on the go. Showers and drinks then a few appetisers before the main meal was sereved up.

Dinner on Saturday night was really great, fantastic effort Tim. Although it was disappointing that Denis had not collected any blackberries during his off track excursion to garnish the apple pies.

Sunday saw a smaller group do a quiet ride out to Cobbler, where they went and looked at the waterfalls while I fixed a flat front tyre. Rudy stayed behind to keep me company which was welcome.

Top weekend - two thumbs up.

Ken, those photos Julie took during the ride on Saturday are on a DVD in a slide show, we'll put them up on the big screen at the club meeting  ;) She took some great shots.
