Well, another fantastic event. Made even more special for me 'cos my daughter came along for the day. She was keen to have a crack at riding, and Pat volunteered his postie bike, so we were set.
It was a very sh!tty looking morning as we left home, but as soon as we turned into Saw Pit Gully Road, the sun came out and stayed all day! It was a bit chilly, but nothing that a bit of riding and the fire couldn't sort out.
Another huge turnout for the day, the first of which was run under the new MA system. Lots of riders and non-riders, adults and kids (and those in-between). The highlight of the day (other than my Ali piloting the postie all day) was when Al took all the ankle-biters around the big track. He looked like a mother duck with all the duckling following. I hope someone got a pic of that!
Otherwise, the day went according to plan, with some people sticking to the circuit while others went out into the forest for some real trail time. Nathan screamed around on his newest 'old' Husky (as well as a number of other bikes!). I gave the PE a pre-Harrow squirt, and she seems to be going fine. Sam brought along a bucket of M&M's in the hope that Pete and I could re-visit the Holbrook M&M Massacre of 2011, but some things you just cant reproduce!
Lunch was served, drinks were had and smiles were a plenty. Unfortunately, I had to get Ali back by 4:30, so we had to leave early. Sorry I wasn't around to help clean up.
Once again, thanx to John for organizing the event. But a big thank you also goes to all those who who put their hand up when John called for help. To those who volunteered to purchase the meat, drinks and snacks...thank you, as well as cook and clean up. This kind of spirit epitomizes what I believe AMTRA is all about. Everyone chipping in and helping out to make a great day.
Cheers and thanks.

It was a great day had by Shaz, Coop and I. From Coop not wanting to ride last time, to this time taking some time out with dad. To just practice riding around cones in a quite paddock in the corner. To Coop asking if he could ride the track with other kids to the point were i had to brib him with chocolate and biscuits to get him off long enough to have a drink for the day. Not bad for a kid who was still unsure if he wanted to ride at John's. Big thanks to those who helpped him out through the day, big and small. And to those who praised him through the day, his talking about the next one still. Leading the kids around was fun, and the look in their eyes when i asked if they wanted to was something to remember. Watching young Cody tackle the large down hill twice unassisted was great too! But Seano and Darren were great to helpping the fallen kids around the big loop. When you see begginer adults scared of the big jumps and hills, what must they look like to a bunch of kids on 50's? Table top jump and all. Good effort kids. I didn't ride to much for a change yesterday with my focus been on my son for a change, so sorry to anyone who was want me leading more on the day. I did get out in the arvo and took David around the new and testing section of trail, was very impressed with how far his come along since getting his new bike. I also got to run through the same loop with Hamo and , and with some tips had them both taking home some new skills. Shaz had a good day, but is walking wounded today after throwing my bike at the ground. Thanks to all that gave her a hand and back on the bike through the day. John, family and helpers have done a unreal job with the block, and some of the new obsticles around will be great for the training days to come for people to make the next step. I didnt get more than 5mins riding in with Nath, nor get to take the Husky for a run. Thanks to all that helpped and attended the day and made it great! Al, Shaz and Coop's

There must be more photos around, judging by the amount of cameras that were there! Here's one of me and my girl!

Thanks, John & family and every one else that helped out, Hunter and Jordan had a ball, I never left the property and still managed to hit reserve must have chalked up 60km just cutting laps on the MX track. These days are excellent for both new and experienced riders, riding the same loop is a great way to improve your riding, the best part of the day was lunchtime, could smell the barby cooking, with every one else having a feed I had the track all to myself See you at the next one, Thanks again, Jordan , Hunter & Gary .

Waking up at 5:30am and checking the weather forecast (2-14 deg, morning fog then cloudy day) and BOM radar (clear) had me out of bed and on my way. I've found that owning a dirt-bike and being an optimist with regards to the weather is a good thing. There was rain all the way there until just outside Daylesford where I was greeted with blue skies!
For once the GPS in the car got me to a country location without telling me to "turn left" across a farm, lake, train line or non existent road.
It was a good turn out and I had a blast doing loops, hills, trails and practicing some techniques I've been working on (stoppies, lofting the front wheel, jumping and cornering skills).
Thanks to everyone involved in organising the day, John T for the use of his property and Seano for his duties as head chef.
I look forward to seeing Aaron's photos.
Cheers, Phil
