Ride Report - Abbeyard – Bright9th March
We headed off about 9:30 10ish, the sun was popping over the hills and we could feel the temp rising with us geared up and on the way we took to the tracks.
Down the road to shilts track its always a good warm up for the day with the group flowing good except a stack from Shawn on the wr450 early in the ride we got to the 50km mark were I had some brain fade and confused the same name track as a creek and we did a bit of back tracking, but with us back on course and me enjoying my new wr450 in the high country we picked up the pace till the next wrong turn Lol I was just keeping it interesting, I only worry when I get out the compass.J
Wit a slight reselection of tracks we continued along our way, I started to get a bit to confident over the jumps when about the fifth jump in a row court me by surprise and I found the bike flying sideways in the air, with a bit of luck I got it to land straight?? Does 45deg count as straight?? Didn’t realize at the time my maps got pushed out from behind the headlight a few corners later I noticed they were gorn so we had a regroup and I went back to get them. Wasn’t to bad I think a few of the boys were wonting a rest…
We continued to bright about 95 km all up to bright went to the bakery for lunch
Got fuel and went down by the river for a rest.
Once we all were felling up to the ride home we geared up again and headed for clear spot a well known hill in the area where Tim and i got up and we took the others around
In 35deg heat its not the best hill to play on…
They way home went a lot smoother didn’t need the map I knew the area for the return trip. We even found a trout in the river crossings had a bit of a look at the challenge hill where the new 450 shined in its glory, tims 250 just run out of steam at the top
Where brad on the xr250 was thinking 100m isn’t enough of a run up J
Down threw camp creek where we didn’t mind getting our feet wet for a cool off down the road and back to abbeyard were we got out of our gear grabbed the eskys and headed for the river for a cool off
Thanks all for coming…
