Title: Marysville Ride 11 July 2010
Post by: Wade E on July 12, 2010, 04,15:36 PM
With Phil off riding in Europe he asked me to run his Marysville for him, which I am always happy to do if I can.
On the day we had 23 starters departing Dom Dom saddle car park heading towards the Maryville area for a 50km loop as promised attemping to keep to a level 1 standard.
Unfortunately that got blown out the water (mud) when the first trail had my bike doing 2 wheel slides into the corners, that red teflon mud never lets you take it easy!
We did a sort of half loop around the triangle avoiding anything too adventurous until I picked a short, slipery and rutted climb on the way back. This proved to be a bit tricky for some but eveyone made it up with a helping hand for those who needed it.
On the way back to the carpark I took a dive into a bog hole in one of which "which side of the bog hole will I take moments" much to Simon's delight. I'm sure was not the only one, thats the problem when you leading a ride everyone gets to see your dismounts.

After lunch and refuel Rob joined us on the afternoon loop making just 9 riders heading to the other side of Maroondah hwy Narbethong. Super slick conditions prevailed here to though, as Matt put it "you kinda get used to the bike sliding all over place after a while". First hill climb of the afternoon saw 5 riders up the top and 4 having problems. After waiting a while I decided to take us 5 back down the hill and find an alternative track, expecting to find our group there. They weren't.......sh!t.

45mins rolled by while Chris, Brad, Matt, Owen and Myself did the grand tour of the area, most enjoyable time we had too.
My mobile phone rang with Mark on the other end and we once again become a united force climbing greasy hills and plowing through bog holes all the way back to the car park.

Thank you Mark for your all day tailman effort and thank to all the members and guests on the ride hope you enjoyed the mud bath. Come and have another go at this or one many other rides amtra offers would be great see you all again.
Wade

I always find it interesting Wade how when you are a ride leader and you come off or you get stuck how they all ride past you sniggering like mutley and how they all seem to stop a bit away from you so you have to get yourself out of the poo. Thats normally about the point were I take it from a level 1 or level 2 ride to a  Clubman track or hill just so you are not the only one covered in crap. Will
