With Phil on the other side of the world some where I volunteered myself to lead this ride and with 25 people following my dust around it was going to be a busy morning.
Al Mason and I arrived early (thanks for the lift Al) with the intent of checking conditions out before the ride started which we did as the rest of the group readied themselves. The south facing slopes of the forest were still slick from the previous weekends rain and causing some riders to experince red clay close up Grin.

Leaving Dom Dom saddle after wound our through various tracks in the imediate area, lots of intersections here, and there for many people on corners. Our cornerman system worked well and no one got lost to my great relief.

Crossing Maroondah highway onto Rouchs road heading towards the pine forest we worked our way around a 45km loop before landing on the Narbethong road house for lunch and refueling. At this point some riders headed back to their  cars having had enough for the day, while Andrew joined the ride for the afternoon.

The afternoon ride was a faster and at times more technical affair with lots of log hoping, challenging diversions, hill climbs and the warm Autumn sun made for sweaty helmets at every stop. I promised Clarky we would back at the cars by 5pm and Mr Ross had a birthday present to recieve at home Huh Grin  With a 5.30 finish time and 150ish km on the the trip meter I had enough and was very happy with a cold can of drink and Al to drive me home thanks mate.

Thanks to all the people below for your attendance.
A big thank you to Rossi for all day tailman duty. Cheesy

Gidday Wade,
Me & Marls had a great day. You had a great mix of tracks & loved the slippery clay downhills Shocked
The morning Level One Loop was perfect for Marls who especially had a great time, even though a bit slower than the rest..getting better on every ride she does. I really enjoyed the arvo ride too, especially that great track with that caveman style bridge that somebody had made to get over all the logs. Rossi, yeh I know you think I was a dog marking my territory everywhere; must be these new vitimin tablets i'm on, but I was well hydrated & didn't drink out of any rivers...thankyou once again for tailman duties Grin
Wade, bring on your next ride.., we'll be there.. Wink
Cheers..Fred & Marls

The Day started for me on Sat night when I found out i had a punture , very evil !.I pulled the tyre off only to find no bubbles were comming out in the water .So i put the tyre back together again only now hearing a small high pitch noise comming from the tyre.
Pulled the tyre off again and repaired the leak then find that one of my tyre leavers were missing..... 'Darn tyre leaver fairys 'they had put the leaver inside of my tyre  Tongue
Hour later , bike all done and checked over and loaded into the back of the ute with the gear, then went to bed.
2.16 am ...woke up ,'was very excited', though it was time to go,...anther 4 hours yet before I had to get up. Roll Eyes
Thank you to Wade and Ross for running the show ,Ant Trent and myself all had a great day out.
See you all soon on anther hike
