Title: Yarra Glen Glenburn.
Post by: Peter Monty on May 22, 2011, 05,18:00 AM
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
6 of us headed off to check some areas I had found locally. I was looking to set up a good level 2 ride & thought by asking some other riders of different standards what they thought about each section we covered would help me plan a correctly graded ride.

Perfect weather meant the pace was solid for the whole day. With a lunch break to rest a few riders in between. I think that without a couple of the breaks taken it was definitely a 2+ day at minimum. Other riders will tell us what they thought I guess.

I now have a solid list of stuff to ride from level 2 upward. 4 of the riders had had enough by mid afternoon as we had spent some time playing on some great hills so everyone had a chance to practice in their own time. I think this worked out well as Zeb tried one hill using 3 different lines & only one was not suitable. So it proves there is more ways up a hill than following what someone else is doing. Nice job mate,
this particular climb Luke rubbed salt into the wound for some by going up & down several times. Smart bastard

The tight stuff just rolled on & on, infact Luke & I spent the remained of the arvo riding some fantastic tracks with a couple of big laughs at some other riders stuck in the scrub as they had tried to go around some larger trees we had ridden over! Hope there still not there. LOL

We found a great area for whole bike drifting as this particular area was super hard red clay & slick! If you didnt keep moving you were heading back a long way down the hill! But we all made it with plenty of stories to tell.

I covered around 100km for the day nearly every bit on the tight stuff so it was a good work out. I had a blast on Lukes new KTM 300, hmmm me thinks a new bike is on the horizon! It is a weapon, with a shagged rear stock standard tyre it was not stopped on anything for the day.

The biggest laugh for the day was very late in the arvo when Luke & I dropped down a seemingly vertical track to catch up to a main road, not content to come down it we decided to head up it as well. ( purely to grade it for another ride of course!) Luke ripped it up, I managed close to the top on a second run before looping it out big time. Leaving Luke in hysterics at the bottom as I sorted a way back down!

Anyway, thanks to all the riders who came along, they were all great guys. I hope everyone enjoyed their day as much as me.

Keep your eye out for a solid level 2 ride in the area soon.

Cheers Pete

Yep Zeb sounds like a plan, actually we found another area after you guys left that was every bit as good as the first, so we really do need another pre ride.

Cheers
