I arrived at Al's place at 6.45am and we loaded his bike onto my trailer and threw his gear in the back of the Hilux, We said goodbye to his better half and son, and then we were off to the glenburn roadhouse to meet the others. We got to the roadhouse at 7.45am we were first there so we got a egg bacon and cheese roll to eat while we waited for the others. It wasn't long before the rest of the crew arrived, with the obligatory small talk out of the way, we jumped into the cars and drove to the start point. With everybody geared up and ready to go the ride started dead on 9am and we took of to tackle the 100k's that lay ahead. There is no time to warm up on this ride a quick blast up the road, then you are faced with a steep technical hill climb that really gets the blood pumping, everyone made it up without to much drama and with a quick regroup we carried on. We tackled some really overgrown tracks that are quiet tricky in places and then we had another re group, Al said he wasn't feeling to well so he retired to the cars, seeing as i drove, he had a bit of a wait for us to finish the loop and get back to the cars. We carried on and headed off down some more overgrown tracks with steep hills and plenty of logs down, if you need practice at hopping over logs then this is the place to be. Everyone was coping with the terrain really well and seemed to be enjoying themselves. We stopped for lunch at about 12 and had a rest and a chat for about 20 minutes then we got back into it. The second half of this ride opens up a bit into some seriously fast tracks and very steep hill climbs and descents. We were moving along very nicely and no one was having trouble with anything, We had about 20k's to go and Karl pulled the pin as he had to be home by a certain time so he took the SEC road back to the cars while the rest of us carried on, it wasn't long before Michael and his KTM 525 was on reserve so we cut the ride a little bit short and headed to the cars. We rolled into the car park with Michael's 525 running on fumes, with just on 100k's for the day we finished just after 2pm. With no incidents, accidents or mechanical failures for the day everyone had a great ride, i think only 2 sets of handle bars touched the ground all day. Murrindindi has got it all, Hills, rocks, ruts, fast flowing tracks where you can really get on the gas, very technical 1st gear tracks, and logs logs and more logs!! If you want to challenge yourself and improve your riding then come out to Murrindindi. Thanks to Andrew for being tailman all day.
