First weekend in June is the annual 24hr Challenge at Perry Mountain..
This year I was entered in a 2 man team but we were just testing a brand new bike, that the Atlanta Race Shop had just taken delivery of. It was a Beta 400RR, No bark busters, just the plastic deflectors, on Friday arvo we pulled the Staor and had it modified to put out 100W for a HID light.( which we didnt use). We then put petrol in the tank for the first time and it started straight up.. Rode up and down the pits for ten minutes to run it in. Added some numbers and it was ready to race Grin

The race starts at 10.00am on Saturday and finishes at 10.00am on Sunday..I did one lap on the Beta about lunch time, it was about 95 deg and humid like Queensland. I had one crash, nothing serious, but did end up with the handle bars downhill on a damn steep hill in vines... The bike had lots of power. Heaps on the top end. After my lap I was super hot, So I bailed and told the others I was done until it cooled off some... In the group of fella's I went with we had 2 duo teams and six Iron Men.  Our other Duo team was running in 2nd, So I became Pit Bitch for them for the remainder of the race... At approx 6.00pm Sat night a big thunder storm rolled in. A couple of inches of heavy rain in about 45 minutes, high wind, lightning like it was hitting the ground nearby. Just nasty.  It was so bad they stopped the race to clear the course and reroute some sections that had become unridable., It was a 12 mile loop with over 200 riders out on it when the storm hit.  Perry Mountain club is known for some tough riding trails in good weather. The rerouted course went from 12 miles to 6 miles. The race was restarted at 11.30pm in the order you were in on the lap preceding the storm, the riders were sent off at 10 second intervals onto a wet muddy course they had not seen before in the dark Shocked

Ktm Southeast ended up winning overall, with Raceshop/Husaberg/USA team in 2nd.

The Raceshop Duo team of James Embro and Mark Hutchinson came 1st in class and 17th overall..
