Do not be deceived...it looks just like the latest Yamaha WR450 speedo set-up, which is actually electronic...the cable going down to the wheel is only electrical wires, not a spinning cable. So more than likely this new Zuk is the same.  I hope so anyway. Anyway it will be great to have a close look at the bike.

Before you all get too excited, these do not meet ADR as yet so just like the first lot of DRZ's, the kick start ones, they can only get Rec Reg on them.  Sad

I'm sure an ADR one is on the way though Wink

Maybe Dennis, but the cable goes to the hub on the right hand side. This is a normal method for a cable based jobbie. Electrically operated jobbies usually run a cable to as sensor and reed switch activated by a magnet on the the disk...

It will be good to see in the flesh. The thing is rec reg ready and at around 11K should get a lot of new owners.

Well done Suzuki !!!

Second last time I was in Thailand, Phuket actually, I was sitting on the side of a road and saw an horrendous accident caused by a failure of the bike. The speedo cable either broke or undid and entered the front wheel at about 60kph. The bike flipped and the rider was not in a good way. The rider was then dragged to the side of the road by the other road users and left there to recover, still unconscious.

I don't like speedo cables anymore.

My guess is that would qualify as first aid in Thailand.  Undecided

All,   The carnage on Thailands roads can only be described  as sad and unnecessary.  Young ladies losing half their skin in minor fall offs due to an almost total lack of any body protection.  Speedo cables must be the least of their concerns.
