Passed by the Pyrenees ranges just out of Avoca yesterday, the state forest looked extremely inviting in the mist and low cloud cover, pitty i didnt have the bike on the back! Has anyone riden in the Pyrenees and can give some feed back on the trails?.....I'm heading back with the bike to check it out soon.(no date set as yet) No idea what to expect, apart from the "odd" hill climb and decent!  Are there any amtra members interested in coming along for an exploration ride of the Pyrenees ranges?......

I used to run rides there 37 years ago. There is (was) some good riding on little used tracks. I used to start my rides from a place called Glen Patrick.
More recently another member ran rides in the Pyrenees until maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Definitely worth exploring the area.

I did an exploration ride there with Onion, Peter R and Chuck-wagon some years ago.  We started off with a basic plan, but then just followed any track we could find.  There were some great trails, and the area certainly warrants further investigation!

We should organise a boys weekend away, and stay at the pub   "One day" !!

I know this month is pretty full with amtra rides, hence i may be the lone ranger on this one! but due to other committments, i dont have a lot of options available , and at this stage it looks like the 15th. once i confirm the date (in the next couple of days) i'll post it on the calendar for anyone that might be interested in an exploration ride in the Pyrenees. I know the DSE have a signed trail loop approx. 45k's and i believe it to be a fairly casual ride, but it may be a good starting point? I'm hoping to map out a much longer loop taking in trails around Sugarloaf reservior, Glenpatrick, MT Avoca, and Blue Mountain, If there is any information/suggestions and advice that riders may have regarding the Pyrenees ranges, please feel free to make a comment.

Leo & I rode there approx 6 weeks ago, stayed at the Victoria Hotel for only $35. It rained heavily all night , but the tracks were awesome . We followed the weekend warrior loop, did about a 100ks . Heaps & heaps of tracks everywhere, not much red clay & a few challenging sections thrown in. We didn't see much traffic & saw no 4wd's either, so no 4wd bog holes.... Keep an eye out for the wallabies ' coz they're everywhere . I hit one kamikaze wallaby! Leo & I are hopefully going out there again soon for a bit more of a look around & will stay up there both Friday & Saturday nights....

Marc, did you guys start your ride from, or pass by 'Frasers TBVA'? I'm looking to camp over the weekend when i go, but the camping grounds are on the other side of the range to Frasers. Just wondering whether the information available regarding trails at the TBVA is worth the trek around? If it doesnt have much to offer, I'll just 'wing' it from camp.

Ok , what the ... Is TBVA?
we started at the DSE car park off " old number two road" it's only about 15 minutes from town & guys were camping there . There is also waterfall 5 minutes further down the road where you can camp. don't follow the DSE loop, you'll get board. Take a map & a sense of adventure and get lost out there , you'll have a ball !!

sorry Marc, The DSE use the term "TBVA" :Trail Bike Visitor Area. Sounds like this is where you may have started, the 'TBVA' is not far from Waterfalls picnic area. I've got some pretty detailed prospecting maps to take with me, so I'll wing it from the west side of the range. Thanks for the heads up.
