Picked up my new ride on wednesday and could not wait until today to go for a ride. Took a few mates for an easy ride to run in the KTM250 and it is great being back on the 2 stroke. However I ran into a bit of trouble crossing the river where hawthorn bridge used to be, the river was up and flowing strong. No big deal I thought, just take it easy. Well the current was strong and picked up the bike a bit and pushed me into a hole I could not see. Took in a bit of water and she shut down. Pushed it out and did all the usual stuff, plug out tip it up...... Started to kick it and lost compression and then a metallic scratching noise was coming from the engine. Went and got the car and towed it home. 2 hours later the engine is on the bench in a heap of pieces, turns out the water in the river was so dirty from the strong flow that all the dirt and sand washed into the engine and jammed the rings and destroyed all the bearings, mains conrod the lot. So If anyone wants to buy a genuine one owner one week old bike with 30 klm's on it give me a call. p.s. for the 30k It felt really good to ride, snappy off the bottom end just not the top end of the 300cc. Title: Re: Ever had a bad day? Post by: Ken R on December 22, 2008, 09,33:44 PM OUCH!!! And it all looks so shiney and new outside and inside! Bit of bad luck there Row, obviously the air cleaner is not a good water cleaner. Well I can't beat that effort with one bike but I did kill 2 in one week. My shiney new DT1 needed a rebore after 3 months due to the high teck 3 piece pressed steel air box not being sealed correctly. I looked so sad when leaving it at Milledge Brothers that they lent me a Hodaka 100 for a week. It was gutless unless you reved it a lot. I was able to fullfill that requirement thru the Black Spur to an early AMTRA trail ride. As the day wore on there was a need for even more revs. Coming back thru the Spur required the help of pushers up the hills and it arrived back at Milledges dead.
