Where I want to be...

« on: January 19, 2013, 10,38:08 PM »

Looks okay down there, hope it gets better.
Although there is a bit of smoke around home today.

Link to a DSE map of burnt area, you can zoom in also.
This map is two days old but yesterday there was not much movement of the fire as per the Sentinel map.

It looks like it is nowhere near the Chaynes Bridge area.

DSE Map

Looking at the current Sentinel Hotspot map it looks to be a lot better than two days ago.

Sentinel Map

You have click what type of internet connection, most would be broadband then to "agree" bottom first page and then zoom in on the area, it is a government website so it can be a bit slow updating but it will get there.

I may be wrong Tim as I often am but I think it got a lot closer than we think, I have been following the situation very closely  and apparently Montana caravan park which is just a few klms down the road towards Glenmaggie lost a shed then they were talking about the Licola Rd about 6 klm out of Licola was damaged from the fire so then the bridge is probably only a few klms in between the 2 points, but lets hope your right and the camping areas are not affected and we can get back in there sooner than later, and of coarse all concerned are safe and well.

Todays fire map from 7:40 this morning.

Going by this map I'd say the fire is about 3k south of Chaynes Bridge.

I have noticed in the emergeny alerts there is a fire at Buckland Junction.  That is just over the hill from Abbeyard.  Lets hope  the wind blows from the south and away from the club property.  I dont think I could take another episode of rebuilding  at the property!
